Some years ago, I showed this stuff to two friends of mine. The first one trained capoeira. I asked him to put my shin guards on his shins and to try to attack me with his kicks. Each time he started doing his capoeira 'dance', which looked like a huge passive move to me, I simply side-kicked his front leg (before he even attacked!) and he was put off balance. Another friend of mine, a girl who trained Tae Kwon Do, was much more direct than him, but I could still intercept her rear leg kick with my side kick to her front/supporting leg. Both of them were quite shocked, as they never trained this way and didn't expect such a reaction from me. JKD is the real deal!!

If in the long distance,use finger jab to cover sidekick can or not ?

Sorry i asked a stupid question.

There is no stupid questions. And for your’s, it seems to be a good idea. A good strike is better when it comes from nowhere. When the opponent can’t see. It depends if you’re looking for the K.O. or not, but you have to survive. Hidding a strike with another is a base of JKD. And others... This is called the art of feint ! Just a question of balance and timing... Keep the eye ! We Are all students. No mystery ; there is no Mastery. 🥊🙏❤️

Thanks for sharing! What do you think about front kick against roundhouse?Isn't it faster and more direct?
@ThomasMarxJKD4 жыл бұрын
Same idea, only different target...
@faizalgabre97934 жыл бұрын
Front kick does not have the thrusting power and range of a side kick, but faster enough for you to make a followup hand strike.
@ThomasMarxJKD4 жыл бұрын
You would use it as groin kick, to maximise your chances of success, so you don't have to follow up...

@@ThomasMarxJKD I think in the same way.

I’ve noticed that you can sidekick from infront of the hip joint or from behind it. In front sidekicks I find useful for stop hits. Behind for power.

Side kicks need to be at a suitable distance, right?
@candyvegitto13102 жыл бұрын
I thought sidekicks are for maintaining distance themselves. Assuming that at a start of a fight, the opponent is at a long distance. But as I actually watched in this video, even at close range, the sidekick can still damage the knee.
@axelstone3131 Жыл бұрын
@@candyvegitto1310it’s meant to stop somone, hurt them. It’s not really a “distance” thing. That’s sport stuff.
