If you listen to '50s rockabilly and are familiar with those tunes, maybe even tried to play those licks yourself, you will notice that everything Jeff plays here doesn't just come close but is totally authentic, he really nails it to perfection. On that show he just got back to where it all started for him. One of the most amazing guitar players who ever lived.

Amazing how Jeff plays straight without any of his classic Beckisms, serious talent right there.

This is what a lot of people didn’t know about him. Always knew where the roots of the music were and connected with them cosmically and naturally.
@DrAgan_tortojed2 жыл бұрын
Here's a lesson to you: Beckisms are exactly what make Beck. Just like Hendrixisms make J. Hendix and McLaughlinisms make J. McLaughlin... These "isms" make them distinguishable. If wasn't for that, any real great all-rounder, fast, demonically accurate and punctual expert-guitarist like Danny Gatton or Scotty Anderson would do just as well (or even better).

Nothing like some great stand up bass to give rockabilly that extra boost.

@joebloggins357010 жыл бұрын
sunboy1000 He'd have sounded even better if he had been given the chance to play lead guitar, but just as in the tribute to Les Paul, Jeff Beck relegates him to rhythm guitar - though anyone who knows what a truly phenomenal lead guitarist Darrel Higham is will know why Beck has him playing the rhythm guitar! Beck might be considered a guitar legend, but that's because he made his reputation when the music he was playing was popular, whereas Darrel Higham plays a style of music that had its heyday in the '50s so therefore isn't given any consideration regarding the fact that he's truly great guitar player, or is even known outside the world of rockabilly or as being the husband of Imelda May. He's the equal of Beck and then some!
