Jeff Beck at the warehouse in New Orleans , with Jan Hammer , simply the best , he was the most eloquent player ever, no one , I repeat , no one sounded like Jeff Beck , I've played guitar for 40 years , and his death made me weep ! God Bless the humble Master!

"If I fail my band will cover for me". That's crazy humble. In reality his own band members were in awe of him. You could see it in their faces during shows. They were constantly watching him with these expressions of joy and wonderment at what they were hearing and seeing. He was so much fun to watch. Beck knew he was adored. But he was too smart and decent to let it go to his head. Instead he stayed down to earth where he could focus on creating heavenly music and remain a true friend to all those who loved him.

There *was* that one time when Tal "covered" for Jeff after one of his amps failed by having him share her fretboard while she took a solo (which Jeff apparently appreciated so much that they added that "version" to future performances)...

I was lucky to meet Jeff at a launch event for his book. I had heard he could be "prickly" and he was nothing like that. He let me pose him, he mugged for the camera, and even went out onto Sunset Blvd. to wave at one of those tourist buses. Everyone was freaking out. Then he invited me in to sit and have a beer with him. Nice guy, huge loss.

Even though his age of death is not shocking, the fact that he was still so active is what makes his passing very surprising. Tom petty, prince and Glenn Frey were extremely shocking, none of them were 70 yet. George Harrison had been so sick and not playing or making any albums (save for “Brainwashed”)

In my book, Jeff Beck is one of the five great guitar players ever, and yet, he is so humble. All he wants to do is play well and send the audience home smiling. It is rare to hear a great player be so candid and honest about how hard it is to play in front of a discerning audience. Who would ever imagine Jeff Beck was that nervous about how he would sound, and how the audience would react. After all the years and so much acclaim, he still cares about doing his best. I am thrilled by his musicianship, but even more amazed by Jeff's attitude. So many of the folks from the 60s are dead, burnouts, or a**holes, but Beck seems to have learned the right lessons in life, and he seems to be comfortable in his own skin. That is not an easy thing when you spend most of your life being told how great you are. My hats off to Mr. Beck. Sorry to ramble. In real life, I am a journalist who has covered wars and politics for too many years. Music is my sanity.

His music is profound and deeply influential going back to the 1970's for me ,but with KZbin and video his concerts became accessible, what I would have given to have been a fly 🪰 on the wall at Ronnie Scott's for that, this interview let's me see a simple yet complicated virtuoso who has a humble side and a deeply respectful side , he can be intimated by the possibility of a bad performance yet works so hard not to, it's been said by others on here there will be a void that will never be filled by anyone like him in our lifetime and I can only hope to hear him playing in his eternal life praying father God made a place for him to be with us all on the other side of the eternal through Jesus christ our lord.

I get it. I don't think we're alone. I've got to say not since John Lennon have I felt it like I do with Jeff Beck and even then . It's different. Maybe because I saw him a few times, front row and shared a laugh, I'm older, idk, but it's been over a month and while I listened to him almost every day before his death (smh) I certainly listen everyday now. I'm feeling heartbroken. I can't imagine what his wife is going thru and feeling. It's tragic all the way around 🤍🎸🕊️🎸🤍🎸

This was a FANTASTIC interview with an almost vulnerable Jeff Beck that knocked me off my feet. Loved listening to the responses and his explanations. The depth of honesty of his answers an his conduct during the interview impressed the hell out of me. Great job.

As artists, we all fail, and as we reach for more, we fail more. In my work with artists across the spectrum I’ve observed that the best ones know how to fail. I know that might sound trite, but it is more meaningful than it might sound. When we miss a pitch we can either own the clam or turn it into chowder, sliding into the next note we know will fit. The greats do this so adroitly we can be excused for thinking they don’t screw up. It remains, at the end of the day, art.

This interview is fantastic as it shows the true side of the world's most creative and innovative guitarist. And if you never saw Beck live then you missed something amazing. Many people today recognize that Jeff Beck is a phenomenal composer and guitarist. However, old guitar players - like me - will remember multiple ... decades ... when we considered him to be perhaps the greatest guitarist's electric guitarist... who relatively few among the public knew even existed. It is astonishing that this guy has been blowing the minds of guitarists with his ability to write great stuff that is so incredibly, seamlessly - perfectly - supported by his phenomenal playing skills... for... over... 50 ... years. There have been many (albeit a very small percentage of all) guitarists who have come along. Jeff Beck has transcended greatness: He is among the handful who are legendary. And to think that between his two great interests, if only one is a passion, it is building hot rods. That would make the guitar... just his hobby. Jeff, on behalf of 99.9999% of guitarists everywhere..it just ain't fair.

Good that you have included the image of a guitar, otherwise I would have never understood what you were talking about when you mentioned "guitarist". And the hearts too... How old are you? Twelve?

Saw him 1976 Super Jam..Was by far only reason I went. He was accompanied by Jan Hammer, Billy Cobham. Kept his CDs on the ready. He has been the back track of my wife, and I ,42yrs of marriage. I've seen Paca Delucia ,Al Dimeola, Andre Segovia, Larry Coryell etc...,but Mr. Jeff Beck underscores, all. God Bless. RIP Gentle Guitarist, Jeff Beck.

What I love about Jeff is his unpredictability in his music. From watching him and listening to his interviews, he can get bored fast, and when he throws in those great sonic blasts that leave you with your jaw dropping to your knees and thinking " I've never heard a sound come out of any guitar like that!" Just great!

Jeff is totally real, just watching and listening to this interview confirms that, he is an improvisor, and a musician. Great bloke.

Such a wonderful treasure and an idol for us all, he was ..he will NEVER be forgotten and what a blessing to have such a colorful interview with his VERY perceptive take on the way things went down. Love his expressions and terms used to describe his experiences. And how much more his musical expression was!! A loveable chap and an all-around stand-up guy...RIP Gov...

A great musician should also be a modest person with his craft foremost in his endeavors, and all for his audience, whoever and wherever they may be. His true craftsmanship thus is multiplied for all to see and hear. Jeff Beck personifies such a musician. And we are grateful he has given us so much over all these years. Thank you sir.

I would have to agree with most of the people that have left comments Jeff is very humble and he is very good just seems to have a grip on life in such a great way it would be nice to see a lot more people look at life like he does I've been a musician for 50 years and I know that that is what keeps me saying as well music is a wonderful thing it helps our spirit keeps us going

Jeff's attitude to playing Ronnie's again perfectly summed up his approach to music and much of the reason his constant musical evolution over the decades; 'been there, done that'. He constantly searched for new sounds, new styles, new musicians-always breaking new ground. Bless him. What a legend. Long live Jeff Beck! 🎸

As a lifelong guitarist myself, of all the guitarists I delve into and ultimately respect, Jeff stands with Jimi, Stevie, and Eddie. By first name alone. That says it all. Thank you, Sir.

Probably the greatest electric guitarist ever, certainly on a Strat. And one of the greatest human beings ever as well. A phenomenal man. Much love to you, Jeff.
