For all those asking the drummer is James Copley, and the band backing Jeff here was called Upp. Jeff liked them so much he produced their first album and played on some of the tracks. Stephen Perfect on bass was super funky too. James had a long session career after the band.

Oh please - Tommy wasn’t his inspiration, John McLaughlin and Jan Hammer were much more influential in his progression. And Jeff took it in his own direction after that.
@fusionfan6883
@fusionfan6883 Ай бұрын
@ Firstly no need to be snarky. Secondly Jeff credited hearing Bolin on Spectrum with giving him a new direction. Previously he had been struggling to find a route out of blues based proto rock. Yes of course he was an admirer of McLaughlin and they often appeared on stage together, and of course Jan was a big influence too because of his guitaristic synthesiser work, but Bolin was most definitely a huge influence on Jeff’s move into fusion. And it is no coincidence that Jeff and Tommy were on tour together when Tommy passed, they had huge respect for each other.

@@fusionfan6883 I didn’t realise JB was still doing Spectrum live as a tribute until recently. One of those other worldly talents until things it went too far for TB. I seem to never tire of Homeward Strut. It’s so cool… and yet unpretentious sounding.

You know nothing about today's music scene. I could give you a list of today's artists and bands whose technique and usage of advanced music theory would make your jaw drop. But they don't play that on British Bullshiting Corporation radio. That is mainstream pop💩, as true as their news reports from what is happening in the world. All paid by the big companies, all about money and control. And who cares that they are run by p3d0philes... Anyway, your nostalgic cry is not validated.

You can down load both records from the Apple Music Store. If you like what you hear on this video I strongly recommend you purchase both records.
