That deal with whole foods was a joke. Amazon straight up bent over whole foods and its employees. Was a good company to work for. From what I was told. But I seen that deal going bad real fast for the employees.

It was a good company to work for but thanks to capitalism the bigger more powerful company see’s and opportunity to make more money buys it out then screws the employees. That’s bullshit they took benefits away from part time employees. Amazon can afford to give benefits to all part time employees. They’re just greedy and only care about more profit so they screw the employees.

@Jeff Gyro Well I looked up your numbers and they are stated wrong. revenue was 386 billion. (Profit Margin 84%) is more than the 326 Billion number. - But I did see A 2020 Federal tax of 1.8 billion on 20 Billion US pre-tax income. (9.4% Tax Rate) Average US household tax rate is 14% by the way. Amazon tax rate for last 10 years combined is 4.7% on Pre-tax USA income of 55 billion. (Total 10 year revenue of over 1.5 Trillion Dollars). Corporate Tax Rate was 35% for all but last 3 years Trump lowered it to 21% Amazon has paid only a fraction of that in Federal Taxes.

I am a retired nurse. For a while I worked Hospice in San Diego with Billionaires. I quit after 6 months not because of my dying patients but because of the grotesque family and lawyers. Billionaires die in devastating circumstances because EVERYONE hates them. As a nurse my job was to protect my patients. It was horrific. I went back to caring for my regular patients. Real people. Jeff Bezos will not die happy even though he tortures his workers. I have seen it. End of life hits us all. I have seen it since the 1980's. Amazon made multiple billions of dollars in profits probably earning every minute what I earned in a year. I don’t begrudge them this, but for the sake of us all, they should pay their real fair share in taxes. What would they get in return? Well, the military protects them, police departments and fire departments protect their structures and employees, the roadways allow them to travel to customers, airports support their many jets. They use these tax supported things much more than I do. Make the corrupt government tax the rich at least at the same rate as I am taxed. Maybe then we could fix our infrastructure, provide healthcare to all, provide free college education to all and have a UBI. But you know it won’t happen anytime soon as our legislators are bought and paid for by the corporations and Billionaires. Welcome to the United Corporate States of America!

The Young Turks don't understand that Bezos wealth is based on the stock price which is valued at several times the annual earnings of the company. In the case of Amazon as of 05/13/2021 the stock is valued at a total of around, give or take, $1.5. Meanwhile Amazon in 2020 made a profit of $21.33 billion Profit is what is left over after the expenses. Think about this, AMZN stock is valued at $1.5 trillion on a profit of just $21.33 billion. It would take Amazon, at current earnings levels 70 years and 4 months to earn what their stock is valued at. But people believe it will still continue to grow and the stock along with it so it is valued and has put Bezos on paper wealth extremely ridiculously ludicrously high. It is valued over 70 years worth of earnings.

I was in the Marine Corps many years ago. We went to Tunisia for 2-3 weeks to train in a very poor area. Small children begged everyday for our MREs. They went through our garbage pit to look for leftovers. We gave them food, the surgeon gave shots and medical treatment as much as he could. Then we sailed across the Mediterranean Sea to Monaco for 3 days of liberty. It was winter and many billionaires had 300 foot yachts there for "winter". It was as if Tunisia and any other poverty stricken place did not exist. There was so much money there and a general aloofness that it was hard not to get resentful. Someone said, 'brown people are starving on that side of the Mediterranean and rich white people are living a life of wealth and privilege on this side". Nothing has changed, not even for the richest man in the world. It's as if those people don't exist or his employees.

@V Peak They used to. When I was a kid growing up in the 50s-early 60s, companies paid wages people could live on in conditions they could live with. Companies were loyal to their workers and the workforce returned that loyalty, staying with the same employer for 20-50 years until retirement. Corporations paid taxes several times higher than anything Bernie and the Squad have been bold enough to propose. What's more, those corporations were doing fabulously well. Higher tax rates and a living wage weren't hurting them a bit.

@@ghostog4243 at least. My guess is well over 100m. I'm sure it's registered in the Cayman Islands or similar for tax purposes but even leaving that ugly excuse for a vessel tied to the dock w/minimal crew will be 10's of thousands a week. Maybe daily. Curious how the crew will be paid. Always seemed the fancier the yacht the lower the pay. They make you believe that you are special if allowed to work on the vessel. Was given an offer on one of the biggest & most famous, at the time, yacht, ended up with a lesser position on a vessel 1/2 it's size for double the money.
