This was so insightful! Made me want to learn how to properly record and mix drums - an instrument I dont often have the pleasure to work with in my music.

Some great philosophical insight into approaching a session with a particular sound in mind - that definitely starts with the Artist and Producer - the musicians are then usually hired for what they either BRING to the session, or for how they can breathe LIFE into the overall concept for the desired production style. Cool stuff! 👍🏻

Because that’s how we hear them in real life - even if it wasn’t, it sounds good.

No doubt this guy its a great producer, but in this MWTM he literally show you nothing, he just import the stems into pro tools ( he doesn't have the original stems they are all in stereo) and basically tells you the story of the song nothing to see here no techniques and no music production tricks watch the whole thing and I was like ????? seriously ? if I want to hear the story of the song he might just go to new york times or rolling stone who do the deconstruction thing of the songs, this is just bullshit...like bruno said in this song "dont believe, well just watch" XD

He did talk about production. He’s pointing out that production starts with the players and the instruments that you are recording and so dialing in the tone of the instrument IS a production technique.

@tobeysiegel4011 Oh wow, that's something you call a good production tip? Oh wao, damn, did you see the whole thing, or do you just want to defend him because you love the track or something ? I'm not saying he's a bad producer or something I'm just saying in this specific MWTM he's is just talking about the song and that's it which it's fine all the thing he says are pretty cool the way how the song evolved etc..but you are here to learn some technicall stuff taken for example the ones with D angello that dude show you some really tricks that last one from the weeknd was insane he have no fear to show you what he has in his mix bus, plugins he uses, philosophy etc etc that's what's up !!!

'he shows you nothin..' not quite.- he explains and proves how a particular 'mindset' WILL transform the end results of your audio pictures. startinG w. the source material in the open air, to your ears. (before a mic, pre, EQ, comp or any FX are added, tones should be exactly WHO/ HOW you need them to be.- and that'll put you waaay closer to your desired sonic Goal.- alonG w. many other thinGs, this mindset'll keep you from doinG thinGs like notchinG a resonant frequency out of a drum in post, that you couldve tuned pre recordinG.
