Jeff is a legend, but he doesn’t get enough credit for how fearless he is. He’s always taken roles that other stars would view as too big of a risk, and he almost always kills it. Respect to The Dude.

4:10 -- People forget just how insanely ahead of the curve Tron was, they literally invented the first real CGI technology in a feature. They knew what they wanted to do but had to figure out how to create the technology. The creators did animation for spots and carried it over to a feature but still... they had to shoot it, then take tons of layers of still images and, one by one, hand paint the black and white film to create the glowing color; the suits, background, skin tones, etc. 24 still images in 5-12 layers for ONE SECOND of finished film. It had never been done before. To put it into perspective... remember the "Money for Nothing" music video? People lost their minds, "So amazing! CGI!!!" That was super crude shapes, no real animation, just sliding around... and that came out in 1985, three years after Tron was released. Tron started it all.
@lazydroidproductions1087
@lazydroidproductions1087 Жыл бұрын
I mean they didn’t invent the CGI technology, though they absolutely did invent CGI for movie-use, painstakingly doing everything by hand because the tools for even just animation were so limited, let alone tools for integrating it with live action, which they basically had to make up as they went along

Jeff. You are my absolute favorite Actor. As a young child I was introduced to you as Starman. Why no nod to that film. Also My absolute favorite film of all time is True Grit. Jeff Bridges style.

He’s the only actor I can think of who became a version of a character he played in movie. He started behaving more like The Dude after the Big Lebowski. A true national treasure.

Absolutely not! The dialogue is awful and the story implausible to say the least.

I agree. The Old Man is an excellent series, and it frequently feels as if it's as perfect a role for Bridges today as the Dude was back then. I love The Big Lebowski and always will, but that's neither the beginning nor the end of Jeff Bridges. And I always dig seeing him play a tough guy. When Bridges was cast as Cogburn in True Grit, I didn't think "What? The Dude in a John Wayne role?" I thought "Oh, thank god -- the remake might be really good." Maybe check out an early Bridges movie, Cutter's Way. It'll give you a non-Dude view of Jeff Bridges. (And it'll show you where Gary Sinise got a lot of his performance as post-war Lt. Dan in Forrest Gump. I really respect Sinise, but John Heard should've gotten some kind of mention in Gump's end credits....)

If you aren't watching The Old Man you really should get on that. The story is great. The cast is great. The action/fight scenes are amazing especially in the first episode. Jeff Bridges is legendary and I don't think I've ever seen him in a movie I didn't like.
