I like to think that Jeff is some kind of a guardian angel who is sending comfort to the female character of this story. It brings a specific kind of calm and peace - you have a friend whom you cannot see but he is always by your side no matter what. And I do think the story is about a girl who went to visit her lover (not Jeff) but got betrayed as a lover did not come to her probably because of being with another mistress

Damn, this song captures what it feels like to find beauty through sadness and isolation.. Especially when you know you can never get what you want.. I think the video highlights how the lady is desired by most of the men she passed by at the airport but she is haunted by the man of her dream (Jeff Buckley).. But she can never have him since he is no longer alive.. That kind of feeling makes you wanna curl up into a suitcase for sure.. Beautiful video for a beautiful song

True story about this song.. Jeff never wanted it to be released and had the producer hide the tapes... And when he died Sony demanded all of the tapes be turned over to them... Jeff was worried that people would think he was trying to be Lenny Kravitz... And the irony is Jeff was nominated for a Grammy for the song for best male vocalist, and he lost to Lenny Kravitz

Even though this music video was posthumous and probably not in line with what Jeff would've wanted, I still think it's beautiful. This beautiful yet childlike woman caught in the beauty of the large, freeing airport. Roaming around so curiously. But the strangers puzzle and scare her. And the few stills of her watching Jeff and him watching her. That'd be like him. That fleeting, guileless spirit is something we all lose throughout the adversities of life. This song always takes me back to when my first girlfriend dumped me in high school. I was madly in love but she broke up with me when she went to college. She was a year older and to win her back I roped my friend Ryan into sneaking to her school so he could play guitar while I sang this song to her in front of the entire college. Convinced that some older college guy would steal her immediately I wanted her to hear the line: “And I know they all look so good from a distance but I tell you I’m the one.” We practice the song a few times but Ryan assured me that my voice was terrible and I wisely chickened out - thank goodness. I got over her eventually but then a couple of years later she called me out of the blue and asked if I wanted to get some coffee. Cutting a long story slightly shorter we’ve been married for 23 years and I’m still madly in love with her. I reckon I’ll sing this song for my wife on our 75th anniversary, when I’m a shaky voiced fossil and hopefully it sounds adorable instead of terrible.
