My experience with Jeff Buckley was with his family. His mother and cousin he grew up with ended up being my teacher at my high school. His cover of hallelujah was one of our origin songs for my highschool band show in 2018 we were celebrating the young ones who left us too soon. They came and did a presentation on the life "Scotty" his nickname. And told us about him. It was very moving and I have such a deeper appreciation for his music

For what its worth, the original version of the song is here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHjMoZajituNidU Give Jeff B credit: Smiths songs are hard to reinterpret - which even applies to those songs where the vocal isn't a responsive countermelody to the lead guitar.
