You can see how Jeff's act has evolved over time. He does a lot less "ventriloquism" tricks, and focuses almost completely on bringing the characters to life through their jokes. I've seen ventriloquists who are better technically, but no one gives life to the puppet the way he does.

For those who wonder how Jeff operated the mouth of the little Jeff, look closely at the stand: it's from a Hi-hat, that thing from a drumkit where you have two cymbals on top of each other. They are operated by the drummer's foot which opens or closes the cymbals. So Jeff is using his foot to open the mouth of mini Jeff.
