Oakland Raider Jeff George does the victory lap after win against former team

And yet his former teammates want to bro out with him after the game. The talk of George being a locker room cancer was all hype.
@mijreed3 жыл бұрын
Not true. Everyone hated the guy. He had blowups with every coach he had in the NFL. He whined incessantly in Indianapolis and was ran out of town there because his teammates absolutely hated the guy.

I remember this 1997 team. It was a damn good team if it could've ever played defense. #1 ranked offense and #30 ranked defense at the time.

I was at this game. We drove to Atlanta from Tampa. Jeff had a talented arm but they wouldn’t have won this game without Nap Kaufman’s 2 50+ yrd TD sprints

1:51...Ironically, he was talking about the team he was with, at its most dysfunctional point of the 1997...the Joe Bugel Error. Gruden would come in and get things more stable, but Rich Gannon was the real difference in how that team performed starting in 1999.
@TalkMyShiit8 жыл бұрын
+Manu Ginobilis Bald Spot George put up the stats... but we were snake bitten that year... we lost more than handful of games that were really close! That Jets game in NY was example of 'Murphy's Law" and also the MNF against KC when the Chiefs came back to win the game at the end.
@KTF08 жыл бұрын
Gannon was a way better leader, too. Look how much of an immature prick he was doing a victory lap and I'm a guy who doesn't mind showboating.
@manuginobilisbaldspot4248 жыл бұрын
Hollow stats my man. Most of the losses after October were blowouts (Carolina, Miami, KC and Denver rematches, Jacksonville). He put up a good chunk of those numbers in the first 6-7 games. Then when the offense stagnated, as a high pressure offense is bound to do, they stopped being competitive. And that's something Al Davis never really understood. The game evolved in to one of control and balance. He still thought you could go deep whenever.
@loyal2thesoil4125 жыл бұрын
You gotta understand George ran most of the time while his time in Oakland , meaning the offense back then wasn’t a lockdown offense ,he had no pass protection unlike GANNON , he had a better offense of line and chucky grooming Gannon to be more lethal , made him a more fierce QB . To play against .
@manuginobilisbaldspot4244 жыл бұрын
@@loyal2thesoil412 Gannon got sacked 49 times his first year in 1999. So that's not true about the oline. Yet despite Tyrone Wheatley being the only addition, the offense scored 109 more points. George was a one trick pony...a low budget Dan Marino. Gannon could beat you in so many different ways because he could run, improvise a throw, etc.

Classic! I hadn't seen this. I was front row behind their bench in the LA Coliseum when he was a Falcon and they played the Raiders. Never saw a stronger arm than his. Amazing! We were screaming at him trying to get under his skin and he was just as cool as could be. Andre Rison on the other hand we did. Lisa Lopes had just set fire to his mansion in Atlanta a couple days prior and we ribbed him pretty good yelling that there was a Motel 6 right up the road.

Man I really miss this guy. No way he’d survive today’s political climate.
@KMC5240 Жыл бұрын
He wouldn't survive because he had a mouth/attitude that his play wasn't backing up. George going back and beating the Falcons was a nice little moment for him, but the man just wasn't a winner. Dude had an absolute gun for an arm though. And I'd argue that based on arm talent alone, nobody was better.

Jeff George is easily one of the greatest wastes in raw quarterbacking talent in NFL history -- and his spoiled brat attitude is the primary reason why.
@johnmongani52237 жыл бұрын
true but his lack of mobility hurt him as well. That's why Gruden got rid of him for Rich Gannon who was a career backup compared to George who always started and took the Falcons to the playoffs.
@nikosuavesworldofsportsmusic6 жыл бұрын
John Mongani Rich Gannon was overrated so is Gruden. Al Davis rued the day he got rid of Jeff George the closest he ever came to having another big play explosive quarterback like Daryle (The Mad Bomber) Lamonica.
@SingleTax6 жыл бұрын
John Mongani, George was no less mobile than Hall of Famer, Dan Marino. The main problem, again, was his *attitude.* If you act like a punk even when you don't have to, it's because you *are* one. Simple as that.
