I think it is so awkward to force him to deny Schecter being THE guitar for him with this hymn to Jackson in the beginning. I think in the Coffee with Ola Video Jeff said, that he just needed a change. Being honest about this and then going to Jackson which I do believe is because of his own guitar heroes would make it less of an obvious marketing move and more like a guitar buddies talk and much more likeable.

I'm sure playing and touring in Arch Enemy is good money and publicity for Jeff, and I'm happy to see him continually successful with his music career (dude deserves it), but that band has not aged well for me. Loved them in high school, but have rarely revisited them in more than a decade. I'm not usually one to drop music I have nostalgia for either. Nevermore, however, is timeless. Still can't get enough of all those old records ('Politics' through 'Godless' in particular). I'd love to see him start writing for a band of his own design again, but it'd be tough finding a singer as perfect for his style as Warrel was.
@jamesburke34134 жыл бұрын
Great points. Nevermore was great. Too bad Warrel Dane died (although that doesn't necessarily mean that the band couldn't be resurrected with a new lead vocalist) . I thought his joining Arch Enemy was cool, but you made a good point when you said Arch Enemy hasn't aged well. I started listening to them during the Angela Gossow era, and while Wages of Sin, Anthems of Rebellion, Doomsday Machine, and Rise of the Tyrant were cool albums I found that I preferred the songs they did when Johann Liiva (sorry if I misspelled his name) was lead vocalist such as Stigmata, Burning Bridges, and Black Earth. It seems like Arch Enemy streamlined their sound (perhaps too much) during Angela Gossow's stint in the band. The last album of theirs that I got was Kaos Legions and it was a trifle underwhelming.
@finnishforestparty62934 жыл бұрын
Great point (I personally never really was a fan of Arch Enemy because they didnt bring nothing creative from my point of view), but keep in mind that huge part of Nevermore was Warrel, they both were fuel behind the music, i think it is just the way it is, Jeff just moves forward.
@impendingdoom3854 жыл бұрын
You fuckin nailed it. I feel like Arch Enemy isn't at all the same band after the first 2 albums. I also feel like Jeff's ability is being held back, WAY BACK. Nevermore will always be one of my favorite bands. I still have a very hard time dealing with the fact that Warell is gone...

Never liked Nevermore. Always loved Arch Enemy though - great songs
@jamesburke34134 жыл бұрын
@@lo3572 I understand. I got into Nevermore because of Jeff Loomis's guitar playing. Musically they're kind of dense. Not that Arch Enemy couldn't be technical or complex sometimes, but whether it was the early albums like Burning Bridges, Stigmata, or Black Earth or the later ones like Wages of Sin or Anthems of Rebellion I think they were more focused on writing memorable songs than showing off their musicianship.

I added a oversize brass trem block which adds mids and helps counter torque “neck dive”. I also changed the Jazz to a 59 -but its really a tossup between them. Finally after almost 15yrs of playing I had the frets redone on a PLEK machine and the nut was moved to use the Buzzy Feiten tuning system.

I‘m a bit tired of kick ass guitar players telling in whatever commercial video how great that brand is, how great that guitar is and that they have always been a big fan of it and this was always their choice blabla...and then, a couple of years later, the say the same thing about the next brand to which they have changed to. It is all about money and endorsement. Jeff said almost the same about Schecter...it was the greatest and best guitar and best brand.....blabla...and now it is Jackson...and then it will be... But nothing against Jeff, which is my all time favorite guitar player...this is something in general almost all are doing...because, at the end everyone needs money to live and if a company is telling you „Hey I give you money if you use my product and say nice things about it“ almost everyone will do it. It‘s just...not really honest doing paid reviews. Not many are really critical...because if you say something wrong, you obviously wont get money. However, I truly believe that this is an awesome guitar and Jeff is very happy with it.

Businessman to be fair the reason that you haven’t seen any of his Jackson’s yet is because the only one out is his USA model which is like $5k, so not necessarily an “affordable” guitar in most cases. I'm curious if they ever worked out a solution to solve the neck dive problems Kellys had/have. I know my old Kelly was a pain in my ass with neck dive. Loved the guitar, and it was something that could be worked around, but I vividly remember that being one of two complaints I had with that guitar. Only reason I traded it off was due to the case for it being so massive that it made it a pain to travel with for gigs and whatnot, so I decided to just start playing super strat/strat style body guitars to eliminate travel issues. Still play Jackson and Charvel almost exclusively to this day. Hands down my favorite guitars out on the normal market. I agree with what Jeff (also my name) said, when I think of metal guitars I think Jackson!
