Man , don’t forget jeff porcaro / steve gadd / carlos vega and john jr robinson ! 😊
@cdb7876 Жыл бұрын
@@philippediot88 I've heard them all extensively. Currently Sonny Emory is the best today. Gadd the best of yesterday. Dave Weckl , Dennis Chambers and Vinnie C. Harvey and JP all top tier...along with many others. But Sonny at 60 years old plays all genres above and beyond. There's at least 4 recent videos of this trio recently dropped. Check em out!

Haslips timing is off the chart. Will he ever stop to become more awesome? I did lighting once way back in 2000 for a gig where he played, and got a chance to chat with him briefly. Such a great person.❤

Indeed. I met him at Blues Alley in DC, years ago. Spoke with him between sets. Very nice, humble, and approachable individual!

I had a Doctor's appointment in the early 90s and had just pulled in the parking lot when I heard this tune over the radio "State of Grace' by Jeff. Of course I was few minutes late.😄

Watch again. The bass licks at 1:40 are played by Jeff Lorber using his brand new Yamaha Montage 8. It also happens at :37.

Maybe it is just me, but for some reason it sounds like the drum is a little too loud in mix? Particularly the snare and cymbals (especially when he hits rim shots). Overall I really enjoy this performance, but that really stood out to me.

You can tell the lefty bass player learned to play on a righty flipped over, but never corrected the strings when he got a lefty bass. I had the same decision to make but I chose to correct the strings. It took me a while to relearn everything. I guess it doesn't really matter which way you play though, with musical instruments, there is no right or wrong way to play, you can play any way you want.

So he just changed the nut on a lefty bass? Pretty smart.
