God she is so beautiful! Who else here fell in love with Virginia Madsen first time seeing this movie?

I experienced the 80s as a kid, but I really wish I could also have experienced them as a young adult as well. Truly magical era.

Oh this is so good. I come from the same town as Jeff (Birmingham, England). My only tattoo is the ELO logo. I didn't even know they were a 'local band' until years later. When this movie was in cinemas, in 1984, I asked a cinema owner if I could have the cardboard stand for this song. He gave it to me. I nailed it to my bedroom wall.

I too wanted to visit the now disused prison in my city. Lover of history, news, literature and judicial cinema, I had a thrill, but I put some of tender, light-hearted and dreamlike spirit of Lennie and Virginia in this film. Film, then, which takes me back to the years of high school. We can't be more than once.

A good movie...and rather innovative for the time. All the actors did a really good job, imo (especially her I thought). The music was really good as well (I was a big ELO fan which was probably why I watched it in the first place). I read somewhere that the female star (her name escapes me) was interviewed years after making this and she said she actually had a crush on the male lead during filming (though they never got together) and that he is today one of her best friends. Don't know if it is true or not (why she would lie about it years later makes no sense)...but it adds a sweet touch to the film. They seemed to have a good chemistry on screen - I guess it was real.

I'm such a big fan of ELECTRIC DREAMS and think it deserves a lot more love and attention than it ever received, both then and now, despite Giorgio Moroder and Philip Oakey's titular hit song. Writer Rusty Lemorande and music video director Steve Barron did some innovative work with this throwaway rom-com that just won't go away. One of the reasons for its cult following is the lead female, played by the radiant Virginia Madsen (Michael Madsen's sister), who has mostly done TV roles through much of her career, though she provided narration in David Lynch's DUNE, starred in the very eighties knockabout Jerry Kramer comedy MODERN GIRLS (1986) and was the lead in the impressive 1992 Clive Barker horror film CANDYMAN. In 2004 she starred as the charming Maya in Alexander Payne's Oscar nominated SIDEWAYS, for which she received well -overdue critical acclaim. I also like her in the Sherlock Holmes US series, ELEMENTARY. The unconventionally handsome Lenny Von Dohlen was the romantic lead in ELECTRIC DREAMS. He's known best for his role as the reclusive Harold Smith in TWIN PEAKS, though I also like him as the fanboy musician in Bruce Beresford's quietly beautiful TENDER MERCIES from 1983, one of Von Dohlen's first roles and he's acting opposite Robert Duvall who won the Oscar for best actor that year!

Sorry my friend but you're wrong there. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep was a novel by Philip K dicks that inspired the movie Blade Runner starring Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer. It had nothing to do with Electric Dreams at all.
