I met Jeff a few times he wrote out all of his alterate tunings for Splendor Solis album on the back of a stripper poster and signed it for me and then we drank Heineken. He is an amazing musician.

Oh man, where was THIS in the early 90's when I was trying to figure his open tunings out!

Maton guitars make me proud to be Australian. This interesting and informative series of clips demonstrates the flexibility of Maton guitars - they stay in tune no matter what and can take constant tuning changes

Jeff has been and always be a beast. His voice is of another world. His playing is controlled chaos. He is big, he is wild, he is beautiful. He is the epitome of the word AWESOME.

Great video. It is really helping me as I study alternate tunings.

Jeff is an amazing musician. He's made some wonderfully complex music in the studio with layers of living sound that I've lost myself in for hours. That being said, I always felt he's at his best when he keeps the production simple and allows his ability shine through. Here he is - just a guy and his guitar - and the sound and energy is so large and vibrant and he's so natural as he runs through these riffs. (still, you catch the reverb on the vocals - couldn't help himself lol). It's a joy to watch him give this presentation. I wish more people knew about him here in the states. he's a real master of his craft

Wicked. Only Jeff can make a 6 string sound just as full as a 12.

Okay - the G string joke gets me every-time! Thanks Jeff for sharing! I love to play Tea Party music. These videos have really helped me understand what you have created! :-)

Jeff is such an amazing talent. I would love to see a tour with jeff martin and travis meeks acoustic. Maybe an orchestra. Love the sound. Canada's best talent ever.

You throw in Colin Hay, and I'll give an open check to go see that.

I bought him some hand warmers at a local surplus store, hoping he'd play an outdoor venue in 20F temps (Burlington VT). He did! Thanks Jeff!

Warning!! Please don't try these tunings at home past part three on an average acoustic I did & now have a gstring mark on my right cheek, butt worth while as I almost got to the singing part of coming home before it went twang , thank god as my voice sounds like a chicken on heat bye.

String tension can be a bitch. But alternate tunings are a lot of fun.

The first song “Badger” is sooo good. One of his great (and few?) instrumentals, along with “Winter Solstice” and “Haze on the Hills”. If anyone knows any more of his (The Tea Party’s) instrumentals I would love to hear them!

totally jealous of people that can know a tuning just by hearing it. I always have to use a tuner :(
@patrickolivier12 жыл бұрын
It’s easier than it seems. Starting with a tuned guitar, you can tune it to whatever you need after

Sorry but Rush may be more famous, but they don't hold a candle to the Tea Party (and a lot of that has to do with the music's source material). Alex Lifeson is a guru. Jeff Martin is a genius.

I agree, and I absolutely LOVE RUSH. But you've right.

Sorry, but guitar strings have "never" changed "that" outrageously in my whole life of playing -- good fishing story though -- go on.
