“TR-909 Work Out” from DVD “Exhibitionist 2” by Jeff Mills
©2015 Axis Records
Jeff Mills is widely considered to be the world’s most progressive Techno DJ and Producer. His musical journey-having originated in Detroit-has seen one instrument join him through the decades: the Roland TR-909 Rhythm Composer. His connection, and performance, with the 909 has set the standard of live electronic music performance with the critically acclaimed 'Exhibitionist 2' documentary a Techno hardware masterclass.
In celebration of September 9, a.k.a. #909DAY, Roland sat down with Jeff Mills in Paris, France to better understand how the 909 helps realise Jeff’s unique musical vision and gain some insight into his perspective of the future of electronic music.

@@Flashback_Jack Any piece of gear with 1/8" jacks is a toy. Even the Microkorg, which a lot of people will argue is a toy, has full 1/4" jacks, DIN MIDI, and a power supply that's not just USB bus power.

Hard to believe a Japanese guy designed this thing's circuitry and wrote its software. It sounds African-American.

Regardless of how often you name-drop your old gear, you completely missed your opportunity to capitalize on it better than gimmicky little toys. Behringer is eating your lunch on pretty much anything you made that was popular. One of the biggest music companies in the world couldn't bother to make anything analog in an era where analog has become big again. Stop telling people what they want in an instrument and listen to what your potential customer base is ACTUALLY looking for

SO not true at all when it comes to the 909... clearly you have never used one. I think you are confusing him using this drum machine to the BS these young DJs like to do.
