I just happened to find this performance from the Steve Harvey days on the Apollo, and never knew Jeff Red actually could SING. No autotune, this was live. Yes, Mary is blowing in the background too!

This is a jam! Just discovered it. Real dope moment for Jeff Redd. I wonder why he isn’t a household name today. Great, great performance. The crowd was loving it.

I saw this when it aired back in the day and have always loved the song, however this is one of the few songs out there that sound better live than on the record. I downloaded the actual song and although good the live version sounds much better and most time it’s the other way around! Nice job Jeff! FYI “Nothing but a party” by Basic Black is another example of the live Apollo version sounding better than the studio version.
