If you want more info on Shotaro, I heard he started dancing at 5 years old. He was also a backup dancer for a lot of artists, and according to his old classmates, he was top of his class and became the face of his dance school. He did tiktok on the side. But just as you said, ppl getting mad at the fact he might have been scouted off of tiktok and only calling him a tiktoker isn’t really fair when he’s also trained for so many years. Just watching his performances with the group and his fancams are enough to show that SM picked him for a reason. Also just wanted to include that I love all your videos!! You’re truly my favorite reactor. 💚

People can be harsh out of ignorance: I remember they made Baekhyun cry on award show stage when they received their first daesang because he’d just trained for 4 months along with Chen. It’s also annoying to see teenagers trying to educate SM on picking, training, debuting people although they are working as an academy/factory providing great groups continuously for decades now.

Shotaro is definitely a PRO. He's from a professional dance group and been dancing since he was 5. SM scouting a professional dancer is a smart move tbh (and rare also since I noticed that SM tends to scouts raw talents more than experienced trainees). Shotaro is an exceptional dancer. There is a good reason why both chenle and shotaro had such little training period and that is already have been perfecting their craft since they were children long before joining SM and going to Korea. Just because they trained in SM for a short period of time it doesn’t mean that they have done less than everyone else. It was the same thing for EXO’s Chen and Baekhyun they trained for a short period of time because talent speaks for itself and SM knows that. People could have trained for years and years but still might not have been as good as chenle, shotaro, baekhyun and chen were when they debuted. It irks me a lot that people degrade idols just because they have trained for a short period of training.

Its not the length, that's correct. Also, its not an idok's fault if they are naturally gifted in certain aspects. I actually have high respect for those that can keep up and be at par with those eho had longer training years. That speaks a lot. Hard work pays off, and then we have talented people who work hard.

@@babylionssirenblack1595 I know right, like especially for the case of Chenle he was a vocalist and a musician as a child but even though he trained for 2-3 months in SM before debut he still kept up with the rest of the members in terms of dancing and while also learning korean since because he didn’t have as much time as the rest of the foreign members. When they are center for singing their part they did best to show their dancing too. I can say, no one is bad dancer in WayV. I knew Xiaojun really good at dancing too, when I watch Take Off, Comeback, Say it, etc. His dance so smooth. And when Ten make choreo for him with Kun's music composed and arrangements, I'm not even suprised because i know he is really good at dancing too. Hmm..

And Yangyang singing here (so happy, because of this many people saying WayV member really talented they all like all rounder) 🤧 Yangyang is main rapper (No.1) in WayV, so of course he often get most line of rap. And And I think the one who often get least line is Winwin. And Yangyang is really good at dancing too. When I see their dance practice like Take Off, Comeback, etc. when he rap/sing his part his dance OMG, he is really2 good. And Ten, He is main dancer there of course he will take dance break part. And I hope through SuperM, Lucas and Ten can bring a new fans to WayV too. But their lines is so so. SuperM is like (all members in SuperM ft. Ten and Lucas). And I barely reading comment about this two before (Of course). And comment about Lucas more like He is so handsome (I'm so sad because he is talented too and people who new to SuperM dont know that) And you dont how happy I am when finally Ten singing high note with Baekhyun and Lucas get killing part at the end in One (Monster & Infinity), I replay in every comment who shock about them to watch Ten's solo song and WayV. Shotaro is graduated from the dance/talent school EXPG Tokyo (and one of their top students), which has branch all over Japan and even in LA and New York.He was in that school since he's in the middle school. EXPG produces professional dancers (mostly street dance/hip-hop) and idols (who then sign to their parent company LDH. their groups usually assign separate members as vocalist, rapper, or dancer. e.g. the Exile, Generations, et al. Twice's Sana is from EXPG too btw) that's why you can find dancers with similar groove as him among Japanese dancers (like, Taemin's awesome backup dancers for his Japanese tour). So yeah, he's not a newbie. Newbie in a K-pop environment? Yes. But newbie to dance? He has breathed it for years. He's practically a backup dancer for Gackt once, a J-rock legend. ReiNa, the choreographer of this song, is still 18 years old and she's friends with some EXPG trainers too. So, Shotaro is definitely in his element with this song. It is so nice to see someone with such groove as his among K-pop idols. Somehow it feels refreshing. I also love his excitement when he dances. I hope he'll be able to keep that because sometimes I find K-pop choreo too demanding to be perfect that idols forget to enjoy their performances. And I look forward for his evolution within the group. Maybe he will try other genres, who knows? And Xiaojun actually did some street-dancing before scouted by SM. There are several videos of him performing in events, though idk if he went to a dance school or not prior.

shotaro is a professional dancer! he was in one of the most famous dance academy in japan and was the backup dancer for a gackt (really big japanese singer), his friends also said that he was the top in his class, so SM definitely didnt recruit him just from his tiktok dance like a lot of people said. you can see there's a difference between trained dancer and trained idol, for example shotaro in live performances seemed to smile a lot, like he was really having fun, i recommend to watch the live performance or his fancam! also i agree about xiaojun, he shines a lot in this, his reverse part is phenomenal and him being the center during that part makes it so much more impactful, im so glad he is in this unit.
@Hae___rt4 жыл бұрын
Shotaro once left EXPG, he continued his career as a professional dancer in a small studio but he got contracts to be a back dancer from artists recognized in Japan for their talent. Even at Gackt's concert on his 2020 tour in March, Shotaro was the youngest. Shotaro is not good at dancing because he is professional, he is professional because he was talented since he was little. It doesn't matter if SM had discovered it 3-4 years ago, Shotaro loves to dance and would have improved and reached this level anyway. I'm glad it was outside of SM because he had the opportunity to expand his horizons freely. Let's hope that flame in him doesn't go out.

I have so many commentaries, but I'll just make it one at a time.. I'll go with Xiaojun first.. it's a new discovery for me because I know that he slays vocal in WayV, but he could slay dance as well right here on NCT U. He went hard on this and I am quite surprised because I already liked him of his vocal, but showing off like this with members like Taeyong, Shotaro, Jaehyun, Jaemin who are known for their dance skills, I am totally shocked! Next, Shotaro.. this boy is hella rad. I don't even know how to describe his smoothness yet powerful dance execution. I thought I only knew one Japanese in Kpop who could dance really well like a professional dancer, and he is Ni-ki (the young SHINee Key during SHINee concert in Tokyo, and now he is part of new group ENHYPEN), but yes, yes, yes seeing Shotaro dances, I am beyond speechless. Both are Japanese, not to mention Yuta who is also freakin' good, I don't know i just feel so attacked haha!! Lastly, TY, yeah the awesome leader Taeyong.. I know some of you checked how Taeyong and Shotaro danced together, but I'm telling you that Taeyong is indestructible and incomparable, he is on another level, his skills, his charisma, his performance, that's inarguable. Taeyong still carry this group like how he is pulling you all to watch from start to end.

I cant believe how any one could be anti Shotaro... His talent speaks for itself... It doesn't matter if he were to have only trained for a month if his talent was better than someone who had trained for 10 years... How long you train doesn't equal how talented you can be... I am so tired of netizens and their anti-ness against almost everyone... Stop spreading HATE!!! Good grief!!! Ugh I can't even with humans anymore... I totally agree that the energy is different this cb! Empathy 2018 was kind of a mess tbh. They slapped together a bunch of great singles with no chemistry between them. Resonance, though, was clearly made with a vision. Despite the contrast in songs, it sounds so fresh and cohesive. The new members, WayV, and lots of smart mix-&-matching in NCT U really brought something new to the table and I’m living for it.

Taeyong and Shotaro ate this choreo up! They both have such high, playful energy in the practice video! Just a note on Taeyong's slide move, I think he did it a bit differently here to how he's been doing it on music shows. On the shows, his front leg looks straighter and his ankle doesn't turn until just before his hand touches the ground and takes on his body weight. Maybe his balance was a bit off this time? And Shotaro is far from the first SM idol to debut only months after joining the company. Ryeowook and Kyuhyun both only trained for a few months before joining SuJu and Baekhyun and Chen were the same. All four had had extensive vocal training before joining SM which is why SM could debut them so quickly. Shotaro is exactly the same, it's just that he's had dance training instead.
@MsHaruharuka4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Shotaro pretty much just like Chenle in NCT, both already being professional even before joined SM so they didn't need to train for long time. We can clearly hear Chenle's experience on singing just by how he already found his personal singing style even when he just debuted back then (not to mention his stability too, still no one in NCT that can beat Chenle's stability when singing live). Same with Shotaro, his dance level obviously something that he train and practice so hard for years, he isn't newbie at all in dance.

A Japanese dancer also said it's completely separate, different part of his head and under his neck to be moved for Shotaro! He can always move them separated not only of when he does his neck isolation. He recognizes them totally separated. He has so many dancing techniques because he'd been danced for a long time! For example, it's when Shotaro stands up after he sits down (20:33) or he withdraws to the back (12:39) 20:33 the dancer said it's rising dragon turn 🐉🔥 because first he turned his neck,after that he turned his upper body. I think the turn was soo beautiful !!! I heard he debut as NCT U just after he trained 3 months. I could learn many things from your reaction though I can't understand English completely 😅 Thank you! 🇯🇵

Yeah, right? Shotaro's move is 'different'. He has his own attitude, his grooves, his 'moves'. And that's make him stood out, but no necessarily be apart from the group.
@m3andx3n04 жыл бұрын
I think a lot of people agree with the fact that Shotaro is an amazing dancer. But I wanna know why. So here are some elements that I found that makes him a really good dancer compared to the other members (who are also amazing dancers, but Shotaro stands out a bit). In dance arms are important. They can help you turn, move in a powerful way. We can see during the whole video that Shotaro uses his arms almost EVERYTIME he turns, and therefore his turn is a lot more powerful than the others. In the chorus for example, there's a moment where they are in triangle formation, the three in the front take turns and the four behind are the "background". In order to change side, they have to turn (logical). Shotaro uses his arm to turn abruptly while the others in the back are calmer, as the little steps that follow the turn are kinda groovy, cool. That change of rhythm adds some variation in the overall move, which is less boring. There are plenty of other examples of course. But I'm not gonna list them all. Loose arms, or parasite arms as I call them sometimes, are hella boring. Just before chorus, when they do the wave, Shotaro is the only one that has his arms behind his back. That detail might seem ridiculously small, but imo it doesn't. I would say that it finishes the move, making it clearer and more understandable. I know this comment is long, so I'm gonna wrap it up here. If we just focus on the arms of the members, Shotaro's arm moves are alone a choreography, never boring. There are other interesting things that make Shotaro's dance seem really good, like a variation in rhythm as I said earlier but also variations of levels (in the wave move before the second chorus, Shotaro (some others as well) goes from low to high while doyoung is always high up -> less interesting). Ps: sorry I'm not an English native speaker...
@m3andx3n04 жыл бұрын
basically the solution to loose arms is to put them behind your back lol

I really like how you went on about Shotaro's training and emphasizing his skill. I think people often praise "talent" of artists (even outside of kpop) a bit too much. Talent only gets one so far, and in my opinion, praising only talent really devalues how much hard work and discipline a person has put into mastering their craft. I personally really wish people would praise skill more than talent, and because of that, I really liked the way you phrased and emphasized it for Shotaro.
