You want to know how it will be Me and him OR you and me You both stand there your long hair flowing Your eyes alive your mind still growing Saying to me--"What can we do now that we both love you", I love you too-- I don't really see Why can't we go on as three You are afraid--embarrassed too No one has ever said such a thing to you Your mother's ghost stands at your shoulder Face like ice--a little bit colder Saying to you--"you can not do that, it breaks All the rules you learned in school" I don't really see Why can't we go on as three We love each other--it's plain to see There's just one answer comes to me --Sister--lovers--water brothers And in time--maybe others So you see--what we can do--is to try something new-- If you're crazy too-- I don't really see Why can't we go on as three.

in one of his last interviews Crosby described his own personal "triad' type experiences, some included men.

This is beautiful, loved it for years!

Since this was the first version of Triad put out, I consider it to be the original. Easily the best on Crown of Creation. I didn't know it was Crosby's until 4 way street came out. I only first heard the unreleased Byrds recording a few minutes ago. Very good, whatever band was backing (Byrds or studio musicians) did great job. Still, no comparison to Jefferson Airplane. 50 years plus, wow it's great. One woman, two men narrative more compelling as well. Grace Slick does it justice.

Not easily the best for me. But to each his own.

David Crosby read Heinlein's "Stranger in a Strange Land," and found the concept of 'water brother' there. Characters with multiple partners were in the book too.

Kanter was also a fan of the book. He wanted to call the band 'the Nest'.

I once had a girlfriend and a boyfriend simultaneously. I didn’t see anything wrong with it. Love comes in many forms. I always thought the members of the JA were so intelligent and stood apart from other groups .

This is a David Crosby song. Doesn't mean the Airplane weren't so intelligent and they did stand apart. I think mostly though, they did a lot of drugs. 😇

Anybody know of a live JA recording of this?
@DonatoDamiano-r2g5 ай бұрын
I've wondered about that myself. I get the feeling that Airplane wouldn't have tried this one 'live'. Perhaps, and I'm guessing here, the song was too quiet to perform. This incredible tune has that personal/in your ear kind-of ambiance, that might not translate well if done 'live'. It's the louder/hard-rockin' tunes that the Airplane/Starship did so well. I myself have wondered if they ever tackled "Lather" in concert. Wish I had been old enough @ the time to attend their shows....such a legendary band, and every member a genius! Fly Jefferson ✈️/🚀 gets you there on 🕒!

@@DonatoDamiano-r2g You would think that, BUT they did do Today live, which is a quiet, intimate kind of song. I wonder if they did Coming Back To Me Live as well. PS- No way to put an emoji of someone whistling after "gets you there on time." : ) Record wouldn't sound right now without it. : )

@@elliotjaybaron726That's true, Elliot, they did perform "Today" @ Monterey! Forgot about that! Not even sure about "Comin' Back to Me" though. Love that tune. Marty sang that so beautifully. I love this band, and wish someone would make a movie about them! 🎥🎞️☮️♥️&Happy 🎇🎆🇺🇸

Solo Grace was the Airplane's underutilized resource and the song was perfect for her hippy love goddess persona.
@Miler97487 Жыл бұрын
I love this version as I do the Byrds version. The Byrds version is more rock-oriented. The Airplane has that same nice acoustic vibe I get from hearing CSN's "Guinevere", also a Crosby song.
