The better version of White Rabbit is the one they performed at Woodstock, 1969. The song is based on Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass. The singer, Grace Slick, became known as the acid queen, due to her affinity for the stuff. She is 84 years old now; amazing that she made it this far. She has the constitution of a horse.

Your bang on the money , it's Alice in wonderland... this must be one of the most trippy tracks out there. Most of these types of bands where using large amounts of L.S.D in that era ❤

If I had to describe the 60s musically to someone with one song, it would be this song.

Amen, I am 78 yrs old, I hated the hippie era but you must admit the music that came out was awesome! Maybe the kids today should do some, their music sucks big time. I really believe this was about adrenochrome!

Great song choice, interesting reaction. This was mid-60s. It is definitely about Alice in Wonderland and about drugs.

"We can live afar from the sun, but we cannot live close to the sun; yet, we need the sun. I come here often to be blessed and advised, and then I depart contented". -- Kahlil Gibran (Iram, City of Lofty Pillars) May you and yours have a happy and safe holiday season (and hopefully not too much drama)! Peace, love, and blessings to you.

The last line, repeated, “feed your head” later on Grace Slick commented that it wasn’t referring to drugs. It was referring to reading 😅

It was said that the writer of Alice in Wonderland was a big " mushroom eater and during a trip got the idea for a book for his.little daughter " alice in Wonderland" i was 9yrs old when this song came out and my uncle 6yrs sy senior and my cpudi. 5yrs older bothe had this album and i loved this song so much ( not really getting the meaning" but lived the sound of it and no doubt at 9yrs connected the Alice in Wondrrland story to it. Thst my mom let me have the 45 record, my 1at rock record to plsy on my tinker bell record player. And as.i got older and in my teens it was still one of my favorite songs ( esoecially understanding the whole undermeaning ) and just 3yrs ago i got to see Jefferson Starship do this song at a small hometown concert and yhey had a HUGH SCREEN up with all the sixties type video as this one did with tye dye shapes swirling around and i bet anyone there over 40yrs @ 150 of us all got up to "groove" with the screen, the band and one another. As it was so Awsome thst thry ssid before staring to plsy it " their first song of the evening, they are not the original band, but want to thank Jfferson Airplane for allowing them to carry on with such great music, if not for the Airplane they the Starship would never have been ! WOW it was so so fun and wonderful ti hear them play it, especially keeping to the original ! Thanks for doing this . .

I believe that "Lewis Carroll" was a friend, or tutored to the children of a family who had a daughter whom Carroll featured in stories he would make up for the children and eventually they became "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass".

This groovy song is far out, man. Jefferson Airplane evolved into Jefferson Starship in the mid 70s, then just Starship in the 80s. Yes, this song is about taking psychadelics. Grace Slick really belts it out.

Acid Rock is always a little strange. The thing that really sticks out for me is how Grace Slick pronounces the words: It has the same feel as when you play a song backwards, except the words are going forward. That's weird.

It came out in '67. If I remember correctly, it was LSD. My dad liked it (I don't think he really got.) Neither he nor my mom could understand the lyrics in Lola. Her name is Grace Slick. Drugs were definitely being used.

When your joint is getting down to roach size, you tear a match out of the matchbook and split it from the torn end down to the match head. Put your roach into the V and twist the two legs together holding the roach in place. You just made a Jefferson Airplane roach clip. It was a 60s thing.

Psychedelic drug stuff, Alice in Wonderland. Correct. Grace Slick was IMO the greatest singer of her generation. This was one of their "big hits". They produced a boatload of amazing creative music that most people don't know about. The band itself was extremely talented when they could stretch out. The bass player Jack Casady..even Miles Davis was impressed with him. This was 1967, the hippies, summer of love, all of that. JA defined the era. As to whether they took a couple of those pills before going on..I think that's a safe assumption :)

Rather, just smoke what the caterpillars were: Hashish, highly concentrated THC. You can buy this in many states that have legalized recreational weed.
