I remember doing a hardtail DH race at Mtn Creek back in 1999 (pre-Diablo era). It's definitely fun. Funny thing about Mtn Creek - if you want to feel like you have the whole mtn to yourself, go ride the natural trails. ;-)

I dont have much of a budget so I ride a gt aggressor pro.. Not a crazy bike but hey I rode it down most of the trails you rode and it held up fine.. I had a amazing time and thats all that matters

I remember doing a race on Stigmata when it was new and it destroyed so many people. By the time the EMTs carted someone to the bottom of the hill someone else was already queued up for extraction. Diablo delivered.

Great inspiration for me because I just think certain things aren't possible on a hardtail, and you just go out and prove me wrong! I'll be out at Mountain Creek all season with the Commencal Metal HT (I was the one you met at Thunder Mountain hitting Fort Hill last year :P) Thanks for posting! And yes, DMLH is roughhhhh.

You can ride anything through anything if you're skilled enough. For racin, a Hardtail is not ideal here. I also know your joints and body feel wrecked after hitting single to triple diamond trails on a HT. Thank you for sharing, and giving us the end impression, "I'll be riding my full suspension next time I come."

New work has been done as well, a few machined trails that still have plenty of rock the shed is known for. Also just went to Mtn creek for first time last week, lots of fun to be had with a lift so quick!
