Putting the inside pedal up when turning is the most logical thing to do since it gives you more ground clearance than with the inside pedal down. And even on foot, balancing a narrow straight line is much easier when you look at the end of that line instead of down on your feet. Works the same on a highwire, so it naturally applies to riding a bike, too.

Some of these techniques are ok, but on a real trail, most of what he says will cause you to crash. Their are way better and safer techniques than what this guy is teaching.

Skinnies are the best way to express the importance of looking up. You go from twitchy and slow to smooth and steady. This translates to normal trails.

why is it bad to practice moving too far back? riding manuals is important for doing anything on mtb. As long as the rider understands its not necessary but just a technique they still need to learn
@JeffLenoskyTrailBoss4 күн бұрын
The big problem is moving too far back too soon. That takes away your ability to move your bike or body so you can handle the situation

Im going to move to Florida and mtb is my love, so first of all Im discovering cycling in Florida. And I was really happy to see that these guys are same as me, not a teenagers. That's mean Florida has serious attitude for mtb. 👍

Not sure who the woman is, but she rips. I really like her chill style. Doesn’t wiggle all over the bike. Just neutral body position and sends it. I can’t even really notice her preload the bike. So smooth.

Great informative video! The only thing I’d like to add is definitely get a size that compliments the area you ride in. Not all West Coast areas are wide open trails, we got a lot of twisties and tech stuff out here too!

I need one of these classes. Just from this short video I do at least 3 of the 5. In my younger years of riding MTB (early to mid 20's) I was fearless. As times changed and not riding as much my confidence has dropped, A LOT. You know, it's the fear of dying that changes what and how you ride. Lol🤣

It's having a bike that's too small for you that makes them pointless. Doing a manual on a bike of the right size is more related to a bunny hop backwards not up. But this needs a very precise amount of backwards thrust. Watching these guys is a waste of time really because the bike you own is right for riding not trials and tricks. Look at this guy. 6.2? Just straightening his arms puts his hips near the outside edge of the wheel. Now check yours. You might get past the axle with a short stem. I went out the back door a few times mastering it on a proper size frame and someday were better than others. But was handy for downhill.
@JeffLenoskyTrailBossАй бұрын
I’m 6’4” so it’s definitely easier for me to have my weight further back. If you’re shorter you’ll Usually need to have your front wheel higher so that your weight can be in the proper balance point. I wouldn’t say it’s pointless, every bike and every rider will have a different balance point, these are just general tips.
