Thank you for those kind words. But each of the kits from Trumpeter, Dragon, etc. have great instructions and very well done plastic parts, and if you buy and use the photo etch add on kits available for them with the railing and various instruments you can make them look just as nice. Just take yur time and be patient and you can make them just as good if not better.

Jeff Head Yeah no problem. I just think you did an amazing job making these models, I just didn’t really get the hang of photo etch until now, so I have about 5 models without photo etch and 6 with photo etch.

Thanks. I have a LOT of 1/350 scale vessels from most all of the modern navies. Enough to make CSGs of all modern nations that have them, plus SAGs and single ships from a number of other nations who may not have any carrier. I am slowly making videos of them. Here's one of my play lists that include quite a few to date, but I have probably 4X this number of ships: kzbin.info/aero/PLvVdtlVkqA3A4PexXbhqprod-THpXcEcZ

So the Whidbey Island class and the Harper's Ferry Class will be replaced by the LX(R) which will be the new LSD and it will be built on the San Antonio hull, but configured differently to fit the LSD role.

Awesome job Jeff! One thing to comment on and its really the only thing I could find, LCAC's never come out bow first from a well deck. That is entirely because they can't back up into the well deck with any ease. The LCAC's alway launch from the well deck stern first. Same goes for LCU's. AAV's do in fact launch head first though and they have to because the jet drive doesnt work in reverse on the AAV.
@JeffHead-IdahoUSA5 жыл бұрын
Well, hey have the capability to back up. They either have to back up going out, or coming in. Usually, they come in straight ahead, because there is little room and the driver will have a better view coming into the well deck. But then he has to back out...and they can and do. But you are correct, normally they will pull into the well deck bow first...but they are capable of backing up, and could, if they had to, back in. They have small entrance openings on each end of the LCAC so that vehicles can enter either way, either from the bow or stern.

Impressive, most impressive. I have been searching this past week for just such an alignment of ships and yours pop up when least expected. Thank you. One additional ship I recommend to your Amphibious Carrier Strike Force is An Expeditionary Transfer Dock (ESD), formerly the Mobile Landing Platform (MLP), is designed to be a semi-submersible, flexible, modular platform providing the US Navy with the capability to perform large-scale logistics movements such as the transfer of vehicles and equipment from sea to shore. These ships significantly reduce the dependency on foreign ports and provide support in the absence of port availability. The class also houses a sub-class variant called the Expeditionary Mobile Base (ESB), formerly the Afloat Forward Staging Base (AFSB). Most aircraft carrier captains start off commanding logistic replenishment ships. Logistics is key.

Or you can search for the same on eBay and see if you can get it cheaper. There are places in China that will sell them for about $35 with little or no shipping...but then they take 2-3 weeks to arrive. Free Time Hobbies will be a little more, but you will get it in a few days.

@Sinjinbin 64 As they LCS vessels are upgraded to the FF configuration, they will be used in such positions. Particularly the Independence class for the ARGs. They have a flight deck that is much lager and can carry more troops and help is special operations around the peripheral of the land battle space, they can perform good ASW work in defense of the ARG or ESG, and they can perform mine clearing operations in preparation for the landings. So, while they have not been fully outfitted and ramped up with all of their capabilities yet...they are coming. The Freedom class will be more suited, one it is up-armed and upgraded to the FF scenario, for ASW protection for SAGs and CSGs. There are going to be 19-20 of each of thee ships, and they will be used. Then the 20-28 FFG(X) vessels will be in a position to better help in the highest threat environments for both roles. But make no mistake, they can and will be used in those roles as their policies and procedures are ramped up to take advantage of their full range of capabilities...and particularly as they are up-armed to be able to accomplish them. That is going to take some time...but we will have the numbers, the weapons, and the minds to take full advantage of them. Thank goodness we got out from the Obama admins light naval thinkers and were able to make such an uproar about their initial capabilities to get the needed changes funded and started instituting.

to bad they retired the expeditionary group the Amphibious ready group is just LHD LPD LSD or the L's I think the EG was smart and gave the Navy flexibility but apparently the LHD doesn't have the Comand and control to command the Cruisers Destroyers LCS/FFG or SSN but I think it can and should be remedied just no will to
@Vendell_236 жыл бұрын
Those LCS is the weakest link in that group
@JeffHead-IdahoUSA6 жыл бұрын
Well, the upgrade to the FF version will help, but we will have to wait on the FFG(X) to really address it. I believe now we will get what we have needed ever since the neutered and then decommissioned the OHP FFGs.
@pacificstatesofamerica6 жыл бұрын
They're the stopgap measure as of now, and they aren't supposed to fulfill a true escort role. They're pretty much designed as large Coast Guard cutters that fight pirates, so they're nowhere near as strong as a dedicated frigate.
@JeffHead-IdahoUSA6 жыл бұрын
@@pacificstatesofamerica The uparmed vessels, particularly the Freedom, will be used and easily can be used in an escort role. The "FF"s will even be beter. The new FFG(X) though will be the true new US Navy Frigates. But, we will have about 38 LCS (19 of each) which will get uograded AMS (The NSM which is a heck of a good LR anti-surface missile), and they will all have SeaRAM and decent ASW capabilities. What they will not have is any decent area AAW coverage. The FF's will have some, but the FFG(X) will v able to carry up to 64 ESSMs for out to mid-range coverage...and an ability (which they should just make the rule) to add another 16 VLS cells. They should just make them with 32. Anyhow, the FFG(X) will have very good anti-surface and anti-shipping, very goos ASW, and decent AAW out to mid-range. On the order of 28 of them will be built. When we add those 28 to the 20 FFs and the 38 LCS< then the US will have a whole lot of frigate sized vessels with various levels of armament so they can have a heck of a lot of capability and mix and match to allow them to do anything from Mine warfare, to anti-sub, to anti-air, to anti-shipping, to show the flag, to se lane patrol, to escort duties. That will be over 80- frigate sized vessels. coupled with close to 100 Burkes by that time, and the 24 or so CG(X) which will ultimately be built, the US will remain very strong...not to mention 50+ very good SSNs.

Then they will build 28+ of the new FFG(X) which are significantly uparmed and larger Freedom class FFGs. But there will be 38 LCS, and all of them will be uparmed with 8 Naval strike Missiles (Raytheon and Konigborg just won the bid) a will the 20 FFs. The FFG(X) will also carry eight NSMs. This will effectively give the US Navy 70+ FFGs. When all is said and done there are going to be close to 100 Burke DDGs. Then you have the three Zumwalts which will be followed by 22+ CG(X) vessels so that any embarked CSG or ARGs can have one at the heart of their defense. So the US Navy will embark strong Carrier Strike Groups for the next 50+ years as the Ford class is built and replaces the Nimitz class one for one for theall ten vessels.

@101327 Never said one had been selected, just said I expect the Lockheed entry to probably win. Also, the LCS was cooked up by people who new very little about the reality of war fighting, about logistics, maintenance, repair...particularly during a fight...and on and on. At least we are finally now getting the types of addons to the hulls in terms of additional weaponry, particularly the OTH missiles, better sensors, and a few more other items that will make them more relevant and at lelast capable of having a hope to defend themselves. I expect the Independence variety will be more associated with PhibRons and counter mine activities, while the Freedom class (if they add everything they have committed to) will be helpful for CSGs...but the best hope there will be the FFGX, if, again, the follow through and give the Navy an honest to goodness mutli-mission, fighting frigate.

Freedom Class will be discontinued after Ships being built at present are finished . No new ships will be built.

Both Littoral Class ships are being taken out of service and discontinued because of major deck cracking and weak engineering at certain hull stress points . Both Class ships should be gone by 2025.
