It really was a milestone in my understanding of what "metal" can contain without getting overloaded with nonsense. It is heavy as fuck, melodic, brutal, calm, frenzied, virtuosic, simple, et cetera, but there's a thread running through the whole thing that ties it together perfectly. Plus, the riff at 5:53 in the title track is damn well the best riff that ever was!

Yeah they’ll be back in 2025. They are doing auditions. To me personally however, it was Warrels voice that attracted me to the band, after years of growls and screams his voice was just so powerful. Nevermore with Warrel gave me 8 amazing albums that had a massive impact on me. So, I wish them all the best, but I mis Wally a lot. I’ll give their new stuff a try but, I suspect I won’t be able to listen to it without severely missing Warrel.

That's an often overlooked detail with these videos. This is very important for everyone, especially beginners whom may of not learned much guitar yet... I know when I started. I fundamentally didn't understand this stuff and most guitarists who 'break down' their songs never go more depth beyond just playing it.

Was just thinking the same thing, lol. I remember being like, "wtf is he doing there?" when this album came out. Jeff is one of those players who always has more in the bag, man. Wow what a great song and Jeff is one of the best guitarist and songwriters ever! Really hope he starts his own band one day! I know it probably gets old but a hired gun in Arch Enemy just doesn’t cut it for someone of his talent! He is honestly no exaggeration more talented than that entire band put together! I really miss his unique songwriting genius and I really don’t want to hear anymore instrumentals either Lol! I think he’d be surprised of the following he would get if he started his own band! Not only metal fans but you’ve got to realize every single guitar player who likes metal would buy his stuff blindly! I truly don’t believe Jeff realizes the impact his playing has had on people? Almost every metal guitar player I know mentions Jeff Loomis as either their favorite or top five guitarists!
