In defense of people who shower only once a week, I have physical disabilities so sometimes I can physically only shower once a week. Aside from my use of a cane, there is nothing visibly wrong with me but I am in massive amounts of pain all day every day and sometimes I need to use my spoons (look up spoon theory, it's great) for more important things than showering like buying/making food, or finishing a project for work. Showering takes so much of my energy I struggle to be consistent with showering every other day. Nothing against you, just thought I'd mention it because a lot of times people don't realize how exhausting and painful showering can be for people with disabilities.

Thanks for your input! I think Tiffany Ferg mentioned in one of her videos, I think the one about sustainability and how we switch onto it, and how the plastic straw ban is actually a problematic thing for disabled people due to ways they can utilise that particular product. I think able-bodied people often bring up points like these without obviously considering disabled people's position, can't blame it of course, as their daily life experience is entirely different. It's good to see a comment like this to give people more background.

im not gonna lie, with the showering once a week thing, i've done that far more than id like to admit. going through depressive periods, even the thought of showering was exhausting to me especially since i'd come home from school at like 4pm and i'd literally just nap. im always slow in the shower and i take my time so i have to put aside a whole hour to shower and then get dressed afterwards/dry my hair and to me, it was horrific to think about. it was during the winter as well. my mental health is a bit better and now that it's summer, im showering more than once a week and i also have more time and more reasons to (if that makes sense? like going out with friends, doing fake tan, going clubbing, meeting guys .etc) compared to school when i fucking hated it there. basically, i think with mental health, an aspect of self-care goes out the window and it's hard to perform basic hygiene for a number of reasons. i understand it both ways but having experienced it myself, i empathise with people who struggle to, with mental health struggles, physical disabilities .etc

I think it also depends a lot on where you live and what your culture is. In my country it is pretty customary to shower at least once a day. Especially because of the climate that we live in. Other countries don’t have the same climate or customs so they don’t shower as much. And on top of that, if a person has a mental health issue or a physical disability, it is completely understandable if a person doesn’t shower as regularly as the next person does. I think it’s important not to judge either way, you never know what someone is going through.

Most dermatologists say that showering everyday isn’t healthy and some think that it contributes to health issues like asthma. Honestly I shower 2/3 times a week and I also freshen up every day so I don’t stink. I also struggle with depression and that’s part of the reason why I don’t shower everyday. I think we need to stop shaming people for their hygienic habits. Like as you long as don’t stink and you are making a legitimate effort to stay clean then what is the issue

To explain a bit more, animals are usually skinned alive because throat slitting causes too much damage and stain to the fur from their blood. If anal electrocution is an option then they'll use it, a rod is placed in the mouth and in the back passage and it's a horrible way to die that can take multiple tries to actually work. These animals are kept in cages, often with broken bones, injuries, exposed to freezing or hot elements with no food or water, often outside. Their cramped together in tiny cages until it's their turn to be skinned. They'll see their cage mates skinned alive in front of them, cats have been known to drool from being in so much fear for when it's their turn. I've done my share of trying to rescue and do animal activism and awareness for these animals. I've seen some with their bones exposed from injuries, they're thrown around in tiny cages and this includes dogs and cats, not just Badgers and foxes. I still have nightmares from the screams and things I've seen. All fur practice is cruel and terrible. Most leather comes from India and I'm India most places consider the cow sacred apart from certain regions. These cows are often bought from poor families with the promise of them going to a good farm, but in reality they'll be used for leather. The journey is terrible, they're not fed or watered, pepper powder is rubbed into their eyes as well as tail breaking to keep them moving. They either walk the entire way or are loaded into trucks, often they're not used to them and they will fall and break bones. They're either slaughtered with a dull knife in front of each other, or skinned alive. People who process the leather are often poor and end up with horrible chemical burns from the chemicals they're using. Fur and leather is a terrible practice that should be outdated by now and banned. We have sufficient replacement that replicate them well and enough leather and fur in the world already made to be passed down and looked after to be given to the next generations so we're not such a wasteful society.

"cheating" in an open relationship could mean that one person is dating someone else without telling their partner, then perhaps lie about it. open relationship/polyamorous relationship is tough to work on since it already defies the general knowledge of how a relationship works, so people involved in it has to work about twice as hard to keep it healthy and functional. as such, honest communication plays even a more vital role in it. the base of "cheating" is betraying your partner's trust and the agreement + boundaries both o yous had agreed on. so, yes, even in an open relationship, cheating is still possible to do. this is just a general comment, however. idk about nate and jeffree since i dont really follow, hehe.

In defense of showering once a week, there are plenty of reasons why people do that. People seem to forget that there are people with disabilities, mental illnesses, injuries, etc that aren’t able to shower as frequently as someone without those would. On top of that, showering every day isn’t necessarily a good thing. Showering that often is stripping the body of good bacteria that keeps the body in balance. Showering every other day or so is way better for your body than showering every day is, despite common misconceptions.

Showering once a week is fine, don't be so overdramatic. Showering isn't the only way to wash your body. Like, I'm disabled and washing is hard for me, so I take two showers a week to wash my hair and all other times I'll use a sink and flannel. I still use deodorant and soap. The idea that showering is the only way to clean yourself or that you smell if you don't shower is incredibly damaging as it discourages and shames alternative ways (and more environmentally friendly ways). It's also such a western way of looking at things. Lots of cultures do not shower everyday or value different ways to get clean. Also, I know I didn't write this in the last video, but the way you handled the religion opinion and the response to it is very unfair and just alienates any religious person. There are many, many different types of religions. Not just the main ones. Not all are organised or hierarchical. Not all hate women and gays (not even all denominations of Christianity do). I accept your opinion, but I encourage you to do more research into it before sweeping every religious belief under the same rug. I am somewhat religious and I love studying different religions. To say that Shinto and animist beliefs are close to Abrahamic faiths and that they are both bad and "culty" shows a lack of education about religion and, again, a strong western-centric bias. You don't have to practice a religion. You don't have to share it, nor should you try to convert people to a religion if they are very clearly not interested. But you should educate yourself on what you're criticising, otherwise your argument comes across as very mean, unsubstantiated, and culturally insensitive. I agree that a lot of religions, particularly the Abrahamic ones, have problems with women and minorities. It's fucked up. But I don't think that is inherent to that belief system, just to the men who have dictated how it is supposed to be practiced. And that is not in every denomination; Quakers (what I personally believe in) are a Christian denomination and are very against hierarchies, have let women be included since its inception, and performed same sex marriages before it was even legal. Just go down a Wikipedia hole on religion for a few hours and you'll see that there is so much variety and depth to even mainstream faiths that lumping them all in together and hating on them all as an idea is stupid. If you can't tell me the bad points about the Baha'i faith or Jainism then you can't tell me you hate religion collectively.

i shower more than once a week but in defence of those who do, you have to consider physical disabilities and skin conditions, also overstimulation from autism, i get overstimulated but not from the feeling of showers specifically but ive heard of others on the spectrum feeling like that from it? I don't shower like every single day because I have dry skin, eczema, and my hair doesn't react well to overshowering, if I didn't have these then yes i would shower much more! Also my hair is very thick and long and i need to use a lot of product, if i showered as much as some i know who do almost every morning, it would really rack up in cost, i physically could not shower every single day

me too. I live in the UK and at my mums ill hear the neighbours batter their dog, they shove him outside in the cold for hours and i have to try and drown out its crys otherwise it breaks my heart more. Theyve had dogs before, one died from being outside 24/7, their bodies couldnt handle the mistreatment anymore. God knows what happebed to their other 2 dogs and cats.Then down the street was an agressive dog locked in a cage in a garden... it never left and was hella skinny and clearly very traumatized. Also on the street is a puppy that sometimes wakes me up with their screaches from being hurt. A cat once owned by the house infront, so skinny you could see their heart punding and their veins.. couldnt even walk in a straight line and full of sores... the rspca said to leave them as they had a collar and owner, the cat died the day after. The rspca said they couldnt do anything about every single one of these animals. This is just one street in a country where youd think laws would be stricter :/ if you report it to the rspca they tell u it aint bad enough because they arent dying and the owners dont give permission for their pet to be taken, or they need multiple complaints meaning no one cared enough to report any of those animals accept me.. in a neighbourhood filled with people who i know can hear and see the abuse turn a blind eye. Its insane how many animals are abused right next to us and how many people ignore it ☹😡 People belive it doesnt happen on their street when in reality theres atleast one. makes me really sad... We managed to take a dog in owned by another house who legit let their young children abuse and throw him down the stairs for fun :/ Sorry for the rant its just insane how many people dont actually care and how common it actually is...

Ok, here's the deal IMO. You're totally allowed your opinion on religion, and you're allowed to share it. Super valid. My only thing is that that provision should also apply to everyone else. When Girl Defined shares their opinions that they believe because of their religion, you say they're invalidating people and putting them down. BUT when you say religion is toxic, by your logic, that's putting religious people down. I don't think that's what you're intending, and that's my point. I dunno, I just think if its OK for you to share your opinion on religion, it should be OK for them to do the same. That way everyone can be honest and say they disagree with each other and have a real discourse, not just attack people for DARING to share an opinion. Like just drop the relativist "to each their own" thing, because it's clearly not actually what you think. You have a moral compass that you abide by, and you can and should share that, but so should everyone else. That's just my two cents on the matter. I hope I didn't come off as mean, I just wanted to point out an inconsistency in the manner of thinking of a lot of people, because I think it squashes honest discourse about stuff like religion.

@@Lizadegun Except that throughout history religion has been objectively directly correlated to toxic actions that negatively impacted many people. Look at the first breakthroughs in science and geography and how those people were treated because of the religious nutcases that existed back then. The issue is that almost all of the principles of religions worldwide haven't evolved with humanity, and the people blindly following these "rules" that were made up when natural phenomenons couldn't logically be explained are using them to promote hatred instead of love and understanding.

I understand what you mean about religion, sometimes I don’t like to say that I am religious bc I know the connotations bc I have seen them myself. I know some of my friends have asked if I’m actually a Christian bc I don’t talk about it a lot and I don’t listen to gospel music, which like ok. People who justify being a bad person bc they nit pick the bible and twist it in their own way. The basis of most religions is pretty much ‘try and be the best you can, help others, you’re not perfect, don’t judge’, yet some Christians take it as I’m better than you bc I’m religious, like no... that’s completely wrong. Cults and churches can be very similar, that’s why you need to have your own opinions and not follow blindly, like it says in the bible, bc it’s a faith and it can be easily manipulated.

If people are getting pissed, I hope they calm down. However, I personally disagree with how she addressed that. "Apparently I can't have an opinion." That was dismissive of the fact that she called religions toxic. Religions are not toxic. PEOPLE are. Some people will use religion as a way to justify their own actions as ok, when it clearly isnt (racism, sexism, bigotry, vengeful hate, homophobia). Those are not ok, those acts are horrible. However, just like anything else, there are good and bad people. This stereotype perpetrates the idea of religious people shouting and angry, when its not always the case. Stereotyping on any level is harmful, such as racial stereotyping of Hispanic people, that they are maids, gardeners, or murderers. I grew up hearing all three stereotypes. To add, I grew up religious. My beliefs are not hateful or toxic. Those who use religion to justify being an asshole or a bigot 100% are toxic.
