Transition Spur - Full Review

I've had over a month on the all new Transition Spur. Few details, I was on a large, at 6'2" it fit very well. I put over 60K of ascending and descending on Transitions first ever XC bike. While it may be light and race-able, this is nothing like the XC bikes of yesteryear. Its like a slalom bike and an XC race bike had the *MOST AMAZING* baby...

I’ve been on the Spur for 5 weeks now and it’s by far the best bike I’ve ridden and suits me perfectly for 99% of the trails I ride.

I dig your style a ton. For the record, I usually listen to KZbin videos before bed and I like listening to MTB content. I find most content noisy, with terrible sound equalizing, etc. Your video was super informative, funny, and I actually love your voice as it’s very relaxing!

I got my hands on a Spur a couple of months after finding your review in 2020 and can say honestly I’ve had the most fun of all time when on the Spur and it’s longest I’ve ever owned a single bike! It’s been the perfect setup for the Boise area and I’m genuinely intrigued to see what Transition could do next with this model as the only bike I’ll be replacing it with is another Spur!

Excellent review Jeff! You answered all my questions and feel that this bike was made for me without riding it.... side note, I have a 2016 Trek Top Fuel 9.9 and considered the new Top Fuel, but I too have experienced similar Trek response to warranties and like you said "Trek may not care if you ride another day of your life.." I couldn't agree more. Not bashing Trek, but for someone who will spend a good amount of money on a bike, I'd want it to be going to a company I can relate to. Thanks again for the review!

I have just recently subscribed (after top fuel video) and when I got home today I saw this bike was released, I googled it and without even noticing it was your video, I clicked on it! Another awesome video. I have only ridden one mountain bike, a trek marlin, and I am looking to upgrade. The only reason I cant go for the transition over the top fuel if because I would be getting the base aluminum model. Im going to demo a top fuel sometime soon so Im super excited. Jeff excellent review i was a xc racer for some time, i have been looking at the spur for a long time, i have read many riviews and they all conclude that it is great in efficiency for climbs, i am seriously thinking of buying one of these because i am already 46 years I want to be more comfortable but without losing the racing character.

I ride a Banshee Phantom and am completely blown away with the short travel 29er aggressive trail bike. The Spur is very similar in geo. I look forward to a demo on the Spur. The YT Izzo also look like a trail shredder!

Love my Smuggler, love my PBJ ... might need a 3rd Transition. Curious how the Spur might compare to the new Yeti SB115 though. Never rode a Transition or Yeti that I didn't like.

Great review, I’ve spent the past year on the new Topfuel so it was good to hear a comparison. Regarding the Trek Warranty, I’ve had excellent luck there as I’ve destroyed 2 rear wheels on the Topfuel and Trek had a new wheel to me in both cases in two days and asked zero questions. Regardless, this Transition looks awesome and I like the fact that you gave the steering excellent praise! Thanks!

Got the 2021 sentinel. Make sure you put protection tape on the carbon frame. The paint chips like CRAZY!

Please give me more!! Seriously, awesome video! I am trying to add this bike to my short list of mtb’s I own....Badly! I think that color is called Sea Green? It looks great. I ride a specialized fuse and recently purchased the new pivot switchblade so this spur would make a great addition. I am really considering evils new following but I think that bike is too much like my switchblade so the lighter weight spur is going to win this battle unless I just cant find one and the following is available. I can ramble on all day....
