I genuinely do this one before I sing with my band. It always gets me ready to sing Metallica and Judas Priest in a way no other KZbin warmups do, and that is no easy feat

The upgrades! The Nord, the picture in picture. Love that you marked middle C for those who aren't familiar with the piano. Clear and efficient structure/flow. Thank you again, Jeff.

This is good, I like you no-nonsense approach. At first I was a bit miffed that you didn't go into more explaining of the melodic patterns but I realized that I would be miffed to have to sit through that every time, and repeating it made me better and trained my ear. So no complaints, I've subscribed.

@@JeffRolka Just did it again and it was definitely less stressful. I picked up my guitar and played all the melodies as well, which helped make it make sense. Thanks again! Heading over to your Cashapp...

Watching your baritone videos has helped me so much. Now, I understand what it is when you were talking about the break (passagio). As a baritone I used to always be self-conscious and dread that part of my range. After watching your videos, I have learned that strengthening the notes right around the break is so important, so as to not sound “strained” in that register. If that makes any sense. Thanks SOOO MUCH 🙏 🎤 You are the vocal whisperer. Rolka Rulez

Thank you for that! Yes! There's this baritone thing out there that is not true! One just needs to work on the passaggio area and sort out the transition. Well done!!! Best, Jeff

@@JeffRolka No disrespect intended , you have to be sober to teach. I learn a lot and sing better with your help. I sang songs I've given up on. I can slow the play back on anybody. You have helped me be a better singer, thank you Jeff .....

Hi Jeff, here’s a question in a comment. Wondering what your thoughts are about monitoring the digastric muscle / muscles behind the chin as you sing as a way to assess unnecessary tension and strain, and then tinkering around to try to produce sound without activating those muscles. Have you experimented with this personally or with your students ? Do you think it’s a valid way to become more mindful of strain and how to reduce it? Or might it be a shortcut to a dead end? I’ve found that as I work with it I improve mask resonance but haven’t discovered how enduring the improvements are or if there may be better ways to achieve the same resonance. I also am finding that my focus shifts to sensations in my face and I lose track of support. Anyway, Would love your thoughts!

When I said monitoring the muscles I meant like by placing the thumb or other fingers under the chin area and behind to feel when the muscles tense or come down.
@JeffRolka2 жыл бұрын
Monitoring that can be great to help release tongue root engagement. This is really helpful in separating the motions of the tongue and larynx. Great work! Keep it up! Jeff

Jeff do you have a video on how to add 'twang/ring/ping' on your channel?
@JeffRolka2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have done some in the past. Mask resonance is under that category, but I might do another one to update the offerings. I haven't covered it in awhile. Thanks JEFF!! :) Love this one! - strange question for you... but do you have any "go to" advice on converting a song in another register to a baritone range? I'm finding my vocals are most comfortable in Gmin and a semitone below that (Gmin as in 2 notes below the A String on a Guitar)
