There doesn't need to be a 70-year exile. As Carl Olof Jonsson explains in his book The Gentile Times Reconsidered, the 70 year period mentioned in the Bible refers to the subjugation of the nations by the Babylonians, not the Jewish exile. I explain it in my video here... kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZ2aomuAa8ijjLM The date 586/587 is not derived as a result of some conspiracy. The Neo-Babylonian era was one of the most well-documented eras in ancient history thanks to the widespread use of cuneiform documents, which provide an unbroken timeline for the kings of the period. We can therefore reliably date the years of Nebuchadnezzar's reign, and hence the destruction of Jerusalem. Incidentally, I am curious to know whether you are still a Jehovah's Witness, or perhaps a disfellowshipped JW who still believes the religion?

Brother John I was disfellowshipped 20 years ago because of lies. It took me many years to realize fully the WT is full of lies. But any honest person has to admit they are right about many things. 2 Chron 36:21 (good to read the surrounding context) says that Jerusalem lay desolate for 70 years after the destruction of the temple. Plain and simple man.

The 2 clauses about the sabbath rest are a reference to another prediction found at Leviticus 26. Among other things this chapter forewarns that if the people did not obey the law of the sabbatical years (Leviticus 25) they would be scattered among nations and their land would be desolated. In this way the land would be allowed to "pay off its sabbaths" Lev: 26:34-35 The writer of the Chronicles understood the desolation of Judah to be a fulfilment of this curse predicted in the law of Moses. He therefore inserted this prediction from Leviticus 26 to dhow that it was fulfilled after the final deportation to Babylon, exactly as was predicted through Moses, "while you are in the land of your enemies". By inserting the 2 clauses from Leviticus 26, the Chronicler did not mean to say that the land enjoyed s Sabbath rest of 70 years, as this was not predicted, either by Moses or by Jeremiah. He does not tell explicitly how long it rested, only that "all the days of lying desolated it kept sabbath" As with Daniel, the main interest of the Chronicler was the return of the exiles, and therefore he points out that they had to remain in Babylonia until 2 prophecies had been fulfilled: 1 that of Jeremiah on the 70 years of supremacy "for Babylon", and 2 that in Leviticus on the desolation and Sabbath rest for the land of Judah. These prophecies should not be mixed up or confused. Not only do they refer to periods of different character and different lengths; they also refer to different nations. But as the 2 periods were closely connected in that the end of one period was contingent on the end of the other, the Chronicler, like Daniel, brought them together.

I'm confused about the fact that the Chronicler seems to interpret Jeremiah 25:11 as referring to captivity, as the Chronicler says that the people "became servants" (NIV etc.) after the destruction of Jerusalem.

It was in CT Russell‘s “the divine plan of the ages“ book where he measured the length of the chambers to come up with 1914. So it’s completely irrelevant 587 versus 607. There were two sages, technically, but it’s all about application of scripture and trying to shoehorn 1914 to fit that doesn’t fit. it’s an irrelevant argument. The seven years war is considered the first world war. More people died then and more countries were involved. The Napoleonic wars were also considered to have more people dying and more people and more countries involved than the World War I. World War I was just called that for propaganda and marketing purposes.

1 Corinthians 1:26 - 31 The Message (MSG) 26-31 Take a good look, friends, at who you were when you got called into this life. I don’t see many of “the brightest and the best” among you, not many influential, not many from high-society families. Isn’t it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, chose these “nobodies” to expose the hollow pretensions of the “somebodies”? That makes it quite clear that none of you can get by with blowing your own horn before God. Everything that we have-right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start-comes from God by way of Jesus Christ. That’s why we have the saying, “If you’re going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God.” www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Corinthians+1%3A26+-+29&version=MSG Matthew 11:25 - 26 The Message (MSG) 25-26 Abruptly Jesus broke into prayer: “Thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth. You’ve concealed your ways from sophisticates and know-it-alls, but spelled them out clearly to ordinary people. Yes, Father, that’s the way you like to work.” www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+11%3A25&version=MSG Therefore, when Chris Thorpe stated that; " A group of bethel janitors and waiters know more than all the historians and scientists. They frequently print in Watchtower Society magazines that they are uninspired and fallible, which means that when JW adhere to thousands of teachings and rules that cant be found anywhere in the bible...….they are worshipping man. How foolish it is to compare following these men to following Christ.

Chris Thorpe I’m sorry I didn’t mean to upset you by my comment. I can only speak for my own experience. As part of my truth finding process I wrote down all the words spoken by Jesus that are documented in the scriptures, quite often talking to other Christians I have found that there is a knowledge of some but not all and this cherry picking can lead to a fractured picture of Jesus’ teachings. I have personally found that the understanding of the witnesses most closely reflect the teachings of Jesus and the early Christians (as documented in the scriptures) when taken in their entirety. I have studied and cross referenced many translations. As a disciple of Jesus it is he I follow and pray to his father just as he explained was the proper way of prayer. I leave you in peace. Karen

What I have come across in reading Jeremiah is that everything is explained in Jeremiah 25:11,12. It tells us when 70 years are complete Babylon is punished. Every scholarly writing I’ve come across including coral Olaf Johnson’s book I believe shows that the The Babylonians were overtaken by the meads and Persians in 539. Jeremiah 25:11 tells us that servitude and desolation is the punishment not only for Judah and Jerusalem but for all the nations if they do not come under the yoke of Babylon. If they do they will remain in their land. You can find this evidence from Jeremiah chapter 25 all the way to chapter 29. The seventy year prophecy ends in 539, add 70 years and the prophecy starts in 609. Also pertinent to this discussion would be Jeremiah 29:10. God turns his attention to Babylon and to his people when the 70 years are completed. If you look in the 2011 watchtower there is an Article called when was ancient Jerusalem destroyed. They don’t even mention Jeremiah 25:12 and it’s a two-part article covering two month span. If that is not enough you have the Kings list, which watch towers own insight book, if you count backwards from 539 ends in 605 the first year of Nebuchadnezzar’s rule. Either way 607 is not the date for Jerusalem’s destruction. Anyway this is how I see it based on this evidence I presented. If there are any holes in this evidence I would love to see it! Thanks for the video

Well done! For me it's the story of Nebuchadnezzar in Dan ch 4, where in the end he praises the MOST HIGH GOD Jehovah/Yahweh, after he is restored to his reasonable mind and kingship. Obviously, the 7 times had passed OVER him was completed. Q: Was King Neb present in 1914 CE? A: If he was, he would have to have been 2,520 years older than he was when the interpretation of the prophecy was given to him. I have never seen a 2,520+ year old person. Have you? Therefore, since King Nebu was not present in 1914 CE, so all claims of that year and the claims of the year 1919 CE, never happened. Except that the 7 times pass OVER King Nebu, could he then praise Jah/Yah, the MHG. The prophecy was completed as originally stated. To add a secondary fulfillment to the prophecy is clearly going beyond what the scriptures say. No repeats in the prophecies of Noah, Jonah, Jeremiah, Zedekiah, or Daniel. Now, since all claims for 1914 CE,1919 CE, and 2,520 year misinterpretation are debunked, let's move on to 537 BCE. All parties agree here. The Romans destroyed the second temple in 70 AD, after dethroning the Persians. The Persians, under Cyrus, dethroned the Babylonians in 539 BCE. This confirms that Jah/Yah word is true, because he said he would bring Babylon into account the 70 year prophecy of Jeremiah. Adding 70 years back to 539, we get 609, not 607. Therefore, 537 fails. That leaves 607 BCE. If Nebuchadnezzar regnal year is 625, or 628, BCE, then you have to back up all the kingships of Babylon, Israel, Judah, Assyria, Egypt and Persia to confirm the history previously given. Or, we could turn to the meticulous documentation of Babylonians' cunieform tablets. Cunie meaning wedge and form meaning shape, by use of etymology, gives us the word cunieform. Each cunieform leaves absolutely no room to adjust forward, or backwards, in dating the everyday affairs of life in Babylon. From the lining up of constellations, which would take 1000s of years to repeat and business affairs, such as contracts, all are listed by the year the reigning king. Two methods are used to determine the accession years or non-accession years, depending on how the kingship was transitioned. All records bear that Nebuchadnezzar began to reign in 605 BCE and attacked Judah in his 18th year. Subtracting 18 from 605, leaves us with 587 BCE. Therefore, just as 537 BCE, 1914 CE, 1919 CE, and the misapplication of day-to-year principle to get 2,520 years all failed. The year 607 BCE fails as well. See VAT 4596 and btw, VAT is not an abbreviation for Vatican. The story of Nebuchadnezzar thus cleanly and clearly, demonstrates that 587 BCE is the best date to determine when Jersulam fell. How do we know for sure? The MHG, Jah/Yah sent a watcher to tell Daniel to tell us. In short, the bible says so.

You are not correct, 587 is NOT the year the Temple was destroyed, it was 607 BCE. Babylon fell to the Medes and Persians in 539 BCE. and the Jews were released two years later in 537 BCE. That ended the 70 year captivity which would have begun in 607 BCE. 1914 is a pivotal year in Bible chronology that fulfills Daniel's prophecy of the "Gentile Times" and reveals what would happen then. "Nation would rise against nation" became a reality when World War 1 broke out due to Satan and his demons being confined to the earth. Just because you can't understand the prophecy does NOT mean it isn't real and important. That's how we know when Jesus began ruling as King which marked the beginning of the "Last Days" and the start of his "Parousia" or "Presence".

Four Bible writers cannot be wrong, Jeremiah, Daniel, Ezra and Zechariah. Indeed Ezra wrote his account after 537 BC and he *KNEW* the correct time period and he records these words, which makes it certain the Jerusalem was *DEVASTATED* during that 70 years: "He [Nebuchadnezzar] burned down the house of the true God, tore down the wall of Jerusalem, burned all its fortified towers with fire, and destroyed everything of value. He carried off captive to Babylon those who escaped the sword, and they became servants to him and his sons until the kingdom of Persia began to reign, to fulfill Jehovah’s word spoken by Jeremiah, until the land had paid of its sabbaths. All the days it lay desolate it kept sabbath, to fulfill 70 years." Please note the critical phrase: *"until the land had paid of its sabbaths."* Something was owed to God! It had to be paid. Every seventh year was a Sabbath year and that year was not to be harvested and the land would recuperate, it would lie fallow. They had to trust God, have faith that God would provide a bumper harvest the year before the seventh year. Since the end of the reign of Solomon, it seems that the Israelites had not kept the Sabbath year and hence God viewed that this was *"owed"* to him. We have a period of around 500 years and that meant that, divide that by seven, we end up with around 70 Sabbath years were owed to God. So 490 divide by 7 = 70 years owed. That meant the land needed to be *DEVASTATED* and no harvest for 70 years. Hence: *"All the days it lay desolate it kept sabbath, to fulfill 70 years."* *THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT THE LAND OF ISRAEL WAS DESOLATE AND DEVASTATED FOR A FULL 70 YEARS!* Actually, this has nothing to do with Jehovah's Witnesses, they simply are pointing at the fact *EXACTLY* as it says.

To admit to this history will be taken as weak and other nations will begin to attack them. So they lie about their defeats. Also you must understand that the bible is a book of faith that sometimes support history but not to be taken as a pure history book. it may line up with some historical events but is mainly a book of faith. meaning God knows the history of this world a whole lot better then mankind.

Jaimie, I would have preferred to send you a private message as there are more than a few commenters here very eager to try to tear apart everything you or I say on this subject. And I do not wish to spend my time arguing with those who will never be open to any reasonable line of tho't or agreement & often resort to unpleasant speech & insults. WHY is it so important to take people's attention away from & discredit 607 BCE ? Because of its connection to other key prophecies: 1. The identification of the year the Messiah would begin his work (29 CE) & then be "cut off" (33 CE) is linked to the date when the order to rebuild Jerusalem began to be fulfilled, the end of the Abrahamic covenant of special favor when non-Jews would be invited to follow Jesus. This prophecy (the 70 weeks of years) also mentions the second destruction of the Temple which occurred in 70 CE by the Romans. Daniel 9:20-27 2. More directly, the first fulfillment of Nebuchannezar's dream of the tree being chopped down was the King's 7 years of insanity. The secondary fulfillment is the "7 times" of years when Jerusalem's trampling by the nations begins with the destruction of 607 BCE & runs to 1914 when all the signs of the last days which Jesus spoke of at Matthew 24 begin. This is verified by Rev 6. The strong indications of this I will discuss with you by private message. Within 104 years we have seen relatively "normal" times broken by WW1, Russian revolution, the end of numerous monarchies & Empires, Spanish Flu, Great Depression, WW2, Cold War, revolution in China, Korean war, the rise of the drug & 'free' sex culture, Viet Nam, Cambodian genocide, numerous revolutions, civil wars, 2 Iraq wars, Afganistan war, many USA "interventions", increase in earthquakes, food shortages with price increases, increasing earthquakes, & climate change with unusually strong storms & freakish weather, the threat of Nuclear war, & genetic tampering. All this in the historically very brief time of 104 years. What a coincidence! Incidentally, several prominent theologians (non-JW) thought 1914 was a marked year according to their Bible research. The cost of the human war on the environment alone threatens continued Life on this planet. Believing that these aren't the "Last Days" & that God will not eventually & dramatically intervene is unreasonableness bordering on willful blindness.

Debbie He has been on earth like you said but was thrown to the earth to cleanse the heavens. All angels have access to the earth. Satan would go back and forth at his own accord with no instruction from God. Satan wanted to try all men from following God. Some like Job in the book of Job were protected. There when questioned by God he said he was roving about in the earth. During this time he had access to try men and to try and fool the angels to follow him. This ended at the end of the Gentile times which was around the time the situation on the earth changed. It was a marked year by PROPHECY and through recognition of the PROPHECY that Jesus gave in Matthew 24. Both these together show that the end times began. In Revelation the PROPHECY shows that there was a battle in heaven and this was by Michael and his angels. At this point Satan could no longer be in the heavens. The heavens were cleansed once and for good. Now began a period of anger by Satan. He could concentrate his efforts on earth. Woe for the earth began. Since the year 1914 these woes began. This was the marked year when Jesus began to reign in the heavens when his first big task was to cleanse the heavens. I am sure there has been battles fought by mankind since this period because we are all being guided to the end time battle for those dwelling on the earth. Only our CREATOR knows the exact time for this battle. When Jesus' life was restored and he went to heaven, he began the time when he sat at the right hand of his father. He was waiting for the end of the Gentile times when there was no one ruling on the earth appointed by God. It began at the end of this period, the marked year. So now we await the last battle before the rest of the 1,000 year reign of Michael. At the end of this period there will be one last battle because some will have not proven there allegiance to God. These are those that will be resurrected to be taught the truth of God. This will be done by opening the new scrolls mentioned in Revelation. Once this battle is fought there will never have to be any more battles. Any, after this time that try to go their own way will be taken care of swiftly. There is no more need to see who has the right to rule over mankind. All has been proven.

Debbie When did you become the JW bookkeeper?
@cynthiaharney7113

Debbie. It is a very personal responsibility to do most everything that is required as a Christian. When did you go on your own to help any victim in all the world's disasters? When was the last time you took the responsibility upon yourself to make any effort to go preach about God's Kingdom as the only hope for true peach and security for mankind. It is a commandment. Go and make disciples for yourselves. It goes deeper than just haphazard preaching. It is always easy to say it is the preachers, but we are all commanded. When was your church organized to do this preaching? If not your preacher is not doing his job. We are all commanded to help the needy and orphans, as well as the widows. EVERYTHING IS A CHRISTIANS RESPONSIBILITY. If the governments were doing their job, then there would be no hunger. If every Christian did their job their would be no hunger. When there are disaster JW's are usually the first on the scene and not just to help their members with food and clothing but rebuilding homes for theirs, but for any in need. Bet you didn't know that. They are always prepared for that. Where do you think the money comes for that. It came out of the donations made for the world wide work. You see, those contributions JW's make come from 2 separate boxes. One is for the upkeep of our local halls. This is done from our own pockets. The other is for the world wide work. We contribute to both. There are lots of things that go on in the background that nobody thinks about. Most people only hear what the donations are. Do you think it just sits there lining pockets. This is for helping the needy. They help in what is needed for each country. Each country helps in any way possible. Do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Do you want a parade to go ahead of us or our tooting a horn to say we did such and such or this and that. Do you think that there are a lot of contributions made for the preaching work. Besides from the JW's own donations, there is not so much as you would think. Every once in a while someone might. It mostly comes out of the members own budget. As most know there are Halls built all over the world and it requires money too. There are lots of things needed to hep. Do you remember Michael Jackson sang a song "Man in the Mirror", and that is the way it should be for everyone. No one religion can take care of the situations going on in the world by themselves. One of the identifying marks of the last days is food shortages. It is something we can not completely do away with for now. That is why we need the Kingdom with Jesus reigning. The greedy will not be then and the earth will be blessed. There won't be hunger anymore. Blessed are the meek for they will inherit the earth. Meek people can be taught under the Kingdom rule. There will not be goats there because they will hinder God's purpose for mankind. They would argue and complain, then do as they wanted things. When the wicked are gone the earth will flourish. When you and yours find a better solution let me know.

Debbie stated in part: " Jehovah Witnesses believe that Satan was cast to earth in 1914 another lie,how can that be when Satan was in the garden and tempted Eve to eat of the fruit ? " You are in serious error due to the fact that you are only stating HALF of the truth concerning what JW's believe about 1914. The WHOLE truth of the matter is that JW's believe that the Bible reveals that Satan was cast out of Heaven to Earth in 1914 C.E AND COULD NO LONGER RETURN TO HEAVEN EVER AGAIN FROM 1914 ONWARD (in other words, 1914 was the year that the Devil was FOREVER BANISHED FROM HEAVEN). Why are you NOT including THAT PART of what JW's are proclaiming concerning 1914? If you KNEW that part and are deliberately withholding it then it makes you a malicious slanderer. However if you sincerely DID NOT know this then it simply makes you MISINFORMED. Knowing the WHOLE TRUTH about what JW's believe concerning 1914 is what will help you to SEE that what they are saying is 100% in harmony with the scriptural Truth of what you already know about Satan the Devil having been in the garden and tempted Eve to eat of the fruit. Understand Debbie? Get out your copy of the Bible and see for yourself what Revelation 12:7, 8 says regarding this... of which I quote: " And war broke out in heaven: Miʹcha·el and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled 8 but they did not prevail, NOR WAS A PLACE FOUND FOR THEM ANY LONGER IN HEAVEN. " ~ Revelation 12:7, 8 This great Heavenly War COULD NOT have taken place BEFORE the time period of the faithful man Job (who obviously lived far AFTER the time period of Adam & Eve) because the 1st Chapter of the Book of Job shows that Satan the Devil entered into a meeting that God was holding in Heaven with His angels and when God questioned Satan about where he came from Satan replied to God that he had come “From roving about on the earth and from walking about in it.” (Job 1:7) So obviously Satan the Devil at one time could gain access between both Heaven AND Earth (ergo him being in the Garden of Eden during the time of Adam & Eve), but when 1914 C.E came that Great War in Heaven occurred (unseen by mankind on Earth), Satan and his horde of rebel angels (demons) lost that War, got thrown out of and FOREVER BANISHED from Heaven and cast down and confined to Earth. Do you understand Debbie? This is confirmed by the continuation of Revelation where it is written and I quote: " So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him. " ~ Revelation 12:9 Revelation reveals that the "original serpent" (the one who misled Eve in the Garden of Eden) was none other than Satan the Devil himself (he used a serpent in Eden as a ventriloquist uses a dummy to make it appear as though the dummy is speaking). The Revelation also reveals that AFTER the Great War in Heaven and Satan and his demonic horde's eternal BANISHMENT from it that they were cast down to our planet Earth. Verse 10 of Revelation Chapter 12 reveals that AFTER the BANISHMENT of Satan and his demons from Heaven and their being thrown down to and confined to our planet Earth, the long awaited and prayed for ESTABLISHMENT OF GOD'S HEAVENLY KINGDOM GOVERNMENT WITH CHRIST'S ROYAL ENTHRONEMENT AS KING TOOK PLACE!.. And I quote: " NOW have come to pass the salvation and the power AND THE KINGDOM OF OUR GOD AND THE AUTHORITY OF HIS CHRIST, because the accuser of our brothers HAS BEEN HURLED DOWN, who accuses them day and night before our God! " ~ Revelation 12:10 Because Heaven was now FOREVER CLEANSED of Satan and his rebel demon horde, all those who reside in Heaven were VERY GLAD / HAPPY (as you can imagine)! However, the Revelation goes on to reveal that the start of the establishment of the Heavenly Kingdom Government and the royal ENTHRONEMENT of Christ would bring great WOE / MISERY to Earth and mankind due to the Devil and his demons having been thrown down from Heaven and confined to our planet... And I quote: " On this account BE GLAD, you heavens and you who reside in them! WOE FOR THE EARTH and for the sea, BECAUSE THE DEVIL HAS COME DOWN TO YOU, having GREAT ANGER, knowing that he has A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME.” ~ Revelation 12:12 Why was Satan and his demons cast down to and confined to our Planet Earth (as opposed say the moon or any other planet or place)? Because it was HERE ON EARTH that the Devil caused mankind to rebel against God and question His universal right to be our absolute ruler and it therefore will be HERE ON EARTH that God's universal Sovereignty is VINDICATED! It STARTED here on earth and shall be FINISHED here on Earth. Ever since 1914 C.E we / mankind has been living in the "SHORT PERIOD OF TIME" that Satan Satan knows he has left (Rev 12:12). In other words Debbie, these are THE FORETOLD "LAST DAYS" OF SATAN THE DEVIL'S GLOBAL MAYHEM! THIS IS WHY Jesus Christ taught his followers to PRAY that God's Kingdom Government COME which would cause God's WILL (what He wants) to be caused HERE ON EARTH JUST AS IT IS IN HEAVEN! YOU PRAY FOR THIS DEBBIE!!! It's time to wake up. You are actually asking/ begging, praying for God to cleanse our planet Earth of Satan, his demon horde and ALL wickedness from Earth, JUST AS HE DID IN HEAVEN. Understand? :-D Our Lord, Master, Savior and King Jesus Christ (God's only begotten SON) gave his followers a global COMPOSITE sign to be on the watch for which would let us know for a certainty that his foretold royal Heavenly ENTHRONEMENT as the King of God's Kingdom Government had taken place and his faithful apostles even went so far as to provide us with how the prevailing ATTITUDES of the majority of mankind would be during this time period. I will happily provide YOU with the information regarding THE COMPOSITE SIGN OF CHRIST'S HEAVENLY ENTHRONEMENT so you can SEE it for yourself (you've been in fact seeing it ALL YOUR LIFE but just haven't been alerted to the great significance of what you've been seeing). Do you want me to show you FROM THE BIBLE the composite sign of Christ's Heavenly enthronement Debbie? If you respond "yes" I will happily show it to you FREE OF CHARGE in my reply to you. However, if you respond "no" and or do not respond to this at all, I will not. Therefore I ask you again my fellow human being Debbie, do you want me to show you FROM THE BIBLE the composite sign of Christ's Heavenly enthronement? Yes or no? Thank you kindly.

Every grade school believer in Jesus knows that Satan was in Eden. Satan also had free access to Heaven & Earth as shown by Job 1:6 & 7. Satan was on Earth to personally tempt Jesus after his baptism. All these are easy to understand scriptures, so are the following. But at a certain point in time Satan, the "Great Dragon," was expelled from Heaven & cast down & restricted to to the Earth, Rev 12:7-10. The cleansed heavens were now ready to establish the Kingdom gov't headed by Christ & his apostles. Don't allow your dislike of JWs to lead you to see contradictions where there are none or to cause you to refuse to be willing to reason on these clear Bible statements of fact. If you consider JWs to be your religious competitors or enemies, remember that Jesus said to "love your enemies." And if you Do have the correct understanding of the Bible, isn't it your DUTY to share your knowledge with all the people in your neighborhood, even going to their door out of love for your neighbor's lives & those of their children....even tho' it is a difficult task ? JWs have....every single accessible home possible, in 235 different lands. We start when young & don't retire until disability or death. If God were not helping us, this work would fall apart, as did the efforts of several other churches. With respect, where is your Love? Where is your ministry? Is it only among your acquaintances or when it is convenient, or when you just happen to meet somebody? Show your faith & love of neighbor by your works. Surely, if your heart is sincere God will help you, & all things are possible with God. I invite you to come knock on my door. But you have to sift thru' a lot of people to find me. Some of us will eventually find you. We'd be glad to answer all your sincere questions from your own Bible.

It really doesn't matter. None of us have the hermeneutical leeway to derive a "greater fulfillment" from Nebuchadnezzar's dream of a tree. The text simply doesn't permit us to go beyond the predictions Daniel was inspired to give to the king at that time about his (Nebuchadnezzar) reign. Christ & his apostles admonished us to avoid teachings of his second coming (parousia) prior to the Great Tribulation (Matt ch24 v1-31) as well as teachings that the resurrection/rapture had already occurred - which is set to take place after his second coming. (2 Timothy ch2 v17-18). We don't need numerology. The Bible was written for farmers and fishermen. It's simple.

What on earth is "Biblical mathematics"...? That's like saying "Apparently you didn't add the apostle Paul on Facebook." I observed the historicity as to how JW came up with the 1914 idea...as well as many exegetes JW later changed...and truth doesn't change last time I checked. And such a handling of the divine text is only found prototypically with the Pharisees & Sadducees...sticking to the "traditions of men". (Assuming you're familiar with that text) Jesus Christ is the Truth and the only mediator between man and God. Stick to your Bible. And try reading it without adding in your sectarian assumptions. It's amazing how many doctrines you'll find falling to the wayside. That goes for all Judeo-Christian based theological communities. Understand...if you are claiming that the First Resurrection has happened in any capacity, you are guilty of apostasy according to Paul. (2 Tim ch2 v17-18). That's why I left the organization. No Great Trib > No Parousia > No Resurrection of Anointed (1 Thess ch4 v15-17).

What unsound reasoning! Think of it, folks. The first resurrection has to happen some time. To say that a statement made 2,000 years ago, without question, still applies now, is like saying there will never be a first resurrection. Think. We need to look at prophecies taking place around that statement, before playing God, and saying 2,000 years later, we KNOW it still hasn't occurred. Here's one: and commonly read, "Thy will be done on earth as it IS in heaven." - Mt 6:10 (KJV) Think about the translating dilemma there. Could Jesus really say God's will IS done in heaven, when 65 years later Jesus, thru John, still referred to the Devil's [and demons] ouster from heaven as a yet future event? (Re 1:1; 12:9) Were the Devil and demons' presence part of God's "will" for heaven? Or rather, was it, in Jesus' day, the way the NWT reads?: "Let your will take place, as in heaven, also on earth." It's a request, not an [inaccurate] description of heaven, yet to be cleaned up in the future!

There are no falsehoods I the Bible. Plenty in history books of the modern day governments. I bet you aren’t debunking those historical records. Did Columbus discover America? No one ever discusses the books that were taken out of the Bible... and how they actually help bring greater understanding. For example... the Garden of Eden is a parable for Jerusalem. The trees of the Garden are parables for nations. The serpent is simply the characteristic of a person... The Bible interprets this itself in the book of Ezekiel. Adam was simply the first person chosen by God... not the first human created. The other people were called BEASTS. The Bible describes this itself in various scriptures. The Bible literally explains itself and still it remains the only book on earth allegedly “debunked” by people who have NEVER read it entirely.

I love how no one realizes how easy it is to use the Bible to prove these dates. We have the history of the Jewish kings, and the kings in Babylon. We have names and dates mentioned in the Bible that all make sense. Secular understanding matches the Bible perfectly. The date of 607 is two years before Nebuchadnezzar became king. Saying he had been king for 18 or 19 years is just laughable. Here’s a little fun bible fact. The first king of Israel to be imprisoned by him was King Jehoiakim during his 7th year. He spent 37 years in jail until released in 560 by the Babylonian king Marduk. See Jeremiah 52. He was only on the throne 2 years until he died in 560. After he (Jehoiakim) was imprisoned, we know that king zedekia ruled for 11 years before Nebuchadnezzar came back and destroyed the temple in his 18th year, or 11 years after the first time. We also know he was 21 when he became king, so do we know when he was born? Yes! 618! That means. 605 was the start of Nebuchadnezzar’s rule, 587 for the temple and the punishment started in 609, not the destruction of the temple in 587. The decree that freed the Jews was in 539. So 607 is only 68 years anyway. So it’s not from temple to temple, but from god letting them lose in battle in 609, to them being freed in 539. Easy!

Hi Jaime, let's consider some facts from the bible. Jeremiah 25:11,12 states that the Jews would have to serve the King of Babylon for seventy years. Jeremiah 38:17also states that if the Jews under Zedekiah would continue to serve Babylon then the city would not be burned. Jeremiah 27:11 also assures Israel that if they will serve Babylon then Jehovah will allow them to remain in the land and till it. There was no need for a general exile or for the city and temple to be burned, only that they serve the king of Babylon which meant submission and taxes, tribute etc. In 607 Nebuchadnezzar had laid siege to Jerusalem, at which time his father died and Nebuchadnezzar was crowned king, he sacked Jerusalem, took tribute and took Daniel and his friends captive to Babylon. see also Daniel 2:1 Jehoikim had been ruling Israel but Nebuchadnezzar deposed him and set his son Jehoikin on the throne, When Jehoikin rebelled he was deposed and taken to Babylon, notice he was released 37 years later, 2 Kings 25:27-29 and Zedekiah was put on the throne, he ruled for 11 years After Nebuchadnezzar first sacked Jerusalem, 19 years later in 587, the Jews under Zedekiah rebelled for the third time and Jerusalem and the temple and city were burned. All Jews were then exiled to Babylon, Josephus says 50 years ending in 539 BC In 539BC the Medes and Persians overthrew Babylon and Darius the Mede was made king. Daniel had served his entire 70 years of captivity at Babylon, the prophecy was accurate and complete. If the JW timeline is true, then Daniel would have served 90 years captivity and servitude, as they have the destruction of the temple in 607, 19 years before in in 626 would have been when Daniel was taken and Jerusalem would have paid tribute to Nebuchadnezzar. That would be 90 years of servitude, the bible clearly says Jehovah said 70 years. Hence the 1914 date is in error by 19 years. I could add much more but lets start here. Jamie i wish you well, but please consider your errors. blessings al

Following the siege of 597 BC, the Neo-Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar installed Zedekiah as tributary king of Judah, at the age of 21. However, Zedekiah revolted against Babylon, and entered into an alliance with Pharaoh Hophra, the king of Egypt. Nebuchadnezzar responded by invading Judah and began a siege of Jerusalem in December 589 BC. In 586 BC, after completion of the eleventh year of Zedekiah's reign, Nebuchadnezzar broke through Jerusalem's walls, conquering the city. Zedekiah and his followers attempted to escape but were captured on the plains of Jericho and taken to Riblah. There, after seeing his sons killed, Zedekiah was blinded, bound, and taken captive to Babylon, where he remained a prisoner until his death. After the fall of Jerusalem, the Babylonian general, Nebuzaraddan, was sent to complete its destruction. Jerusalem was plundered, and Solomon's Temple was destroyed. Most of the elite were taken into captivity in Babylon. The city was razed to the ground. Only a few people were permitted to remain to tend to the land. The Watchtower Corporation got nothing right because historical archeology tells the real truth to what actually occurred. The 70 years of desolation was said by the prophet Daniel figuratively because 7 or 70 is a sacred number in relevance to their god YHWH and to his chosen people the ancient Hebrews.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say that the 70 years is "figurative" or some convoluted "round number" (??) or whatever DESPERATE GIBBERISH you just burped about it, to get around the Biblical facts and statements and chronology, sir. This is what happens when people PUT SO MUCH IDIOTIC STOCK IN SECULAR ANALYSIS yet STILL CLAIMING to "believe the Bible". At the same time. If 537 B.C. was the return of the Jews and rebuilding etc, then going back 70 years LANDS YOU at 607 B.C. NOT "587" or "586". No tortured ways to try work around that or force-fit the secularly-accepted date or to dance around that ever succeed. Even secular historians have said that the word "circa" should be used more often, because some have admitted that their dates are not really so precise. What you and yours do (because of being so ANTI-WITNESS NEUROTIC) is DISHONEST and DESPERATE...and even DERANGED. 607 to 537 B.C. is 70 years. It's really (after all is said and done) THAT SIMPLE. The Watchtower (as usual) is right about things, in GOING BY THE HOLY SCRIPTURES, the infallible History Book, and not ever-shaky ever-flaky worldly pagan secular historians or "scholars". The biggest reason I think JWs are right is that they are the only religion on earth that teaches that the human soul is NOT immortal. Just like the Ancient Hebrews taught based on the Bible The belief that the human soul is immortal can be traced back all the way to Ancient Babylon & further back to the days of Nimrod. Fascinating that soul holes have even been identified at Gobekli Tepe by some scholars supposedly the world's oldest temple Jesus never said "the true seed" would be perfect look at the apostles bickering & squabbling whilst Jesus was with them. Debbie LOOK UNDER SOME OF THE WORLDS literature that are not entangled in any religion and they will tell you the origins of any holiday, and you will also find out how the early Christians felt out about these too. Some of Christmas beliefs go back to some of the false religions at the very start of humanity. The Jewish people involved themselves in pagan practices and God did not except this mixture of pagan practices in worship. Then on top today it is topped off with lies about these holidays and bring children into the practices through lies. How does God view lies. The Jews, when Jesus lived, were tied into the traditions of men. It really was not the law of God they practiced. They just wanted to turn the religion into what they wanted and not for the love of God. It was all self serving and became burdensome for the people. The leaders were blind leading the blind. These that did not along with the program were spoken of and treated abusively. They were ostrasized by the community. Sound familiar? Is that not how others treat Jehovah's Witnesses? The early Christians, as you can see in Galations 4 chapter, went back after becoming Christians to the same traditions. They were observing days and months and seasons and years. Paul felt he had just wasted his time by showing them what is wrong and they went back to their same life style they had before Paul helped. Today is the same. Like the saying, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink." Most of the time people already have their defences up and will not listen because they were told lies. Satan is really putting stumbling blocks in the way through lies. What other group of people is hated more than Jehovah's Witnesses? Why are there more divisions in Christiananity than any other religion? The answer is obvious. It is because it is the way to God. Satan hides the truth through lies. Leaving me a nasty comment over this just will confirm to me even more so, the truth. It also shows what kind of works this person has and who influences this person daily.

Others say the first deportation followed the destruction of Jerusalem by Nebuchadrezzar in 586; if so, the Jews were held in Babylonian captivity for 48 years. Among those who accept a tradition (Jeremiah 29:10) that the exile lasted 70 years, some choose the dates 608 to 538, others 586 to about 516 (the year when the rebuilt Temple was dedicated in Jerusalem.... Jamie Bigham,the WT didn't show you this information. Did the fall of Jerusalem happened in 607 BCE or 587/6.If we were to follow the below statements which was made by the WT 1955,2/1 pg.95 Questions from readers to start from the date of the fall of Babylon in 539 BCE by checking back of all the reigns of the Babylonian kings.So we have to check back from the last king of Babylon who was Nabonidus to Nebuchadnezzar. It is well to understand that all Bible chronology dates for events prior to 539 B.C. must be figured backward from the Absolute date of 539 B.C. WT 1955,2/1 pg.95 Nabopolassar reign 21 years from 626 BCE to 605 BCE Nebuchadnezzar reign 43 years from 605 BCE to 562 BCE Evil Merodach reign 2 years from 562 BCE to 560 BCE Neriglissar reign 4 years from 560 BCE to 556 BCE Labashi Murduk reign 9 months in 556 BCE Nabonidus reign 17 years from 556 BCE to 539 BCE In Jeremiah 52:12-14,2kings 25:8-10 Jerusalem fall in the 19 year of Nebuchadnezzar reign as king of Babylon. 539 + 17 = 556 + 4 = 560 + 2 =562 + 43 = 605 BCE 605 - 18 = 587 BCE or 605 - 19 = 586 BCE My question here how is the WT get 607 BCE as the date of the fall of Jerusalem when I am seeing it is 587/6 BCE when we calculate back from the reign of last Babylonian king Nabonidus to king Nebuchadnezzar from 539 BCE .

You have to calculate the year from when Elvis left the building and add a minute for an hour..a minute for an hour and let seven dwarfs pass over it and when the temple dining room serves grass just like a bull you will eat it and your nails will grow long. After a while a twig will sprout from out of the side of Elvis's guitar and turn into a huge tree and it's foliage will sway back and forth over the whole earth and the inhabitants will become terrified. After the seven dwarfs have passed over. You will hear a sound like that of an alarm clock waking you up and your eyes will become opened and and you will see the empty book or was it bottle of Jack Daniels on the floor next to the bed and you will see you best friend leaning over you and you will hear the voice like that of a best friend telling you that you have 3 days to tell the elders of what led to your experience. And you will have a feeling of dread that will consume you and remorse that you went to the party in disobedience to the gods who are seated in the thrones who have exclamation marks proceeding out of their mouths doing battle with the question marks coming from the mouths of the servants. But the question marks prevailed. Perhaps this clears up the misunderstanding.

You're a good man! So many people refuse to even say the name of God--Jehovah--yet his name has been found on graves in the first century, during the time of Christ Jesus--who is God's Son,, not the Almighty God, Jehovah. But also. Daniel prophesied their exile for 70 years under Babylon rule. And only those Jews who left willing, as Jeremiah told them to because Jerusalem would be destroyed. If they wanted to live they would leave as slaves willing to leave their homeland. Jehovah's anger because many of the Jews had turned to worshiping false gods of stone as did the nations surrounding them. Those who refused to believe Jeremiah--even trying to kill him--who refused, and stayed to fight died. 70 years later, Cyrus let a large group of faithful Jews leave, and even gave them what they needed to rebuild Jehovah's Temple. Jehovah's Witnesses know the seriousness of worshiping God. It's a daily way of life, just as back in the days of Moses, Abraham, and others. He, Jehovah, created all things, yet many people have no desire to even thank Him for all the wonders around us. Life is precious, and incredible. We too, have put faith is whatever religious leaders say, rather than look-up in the Scriptures what the real truth is for themselves. Sir...you speak the truth, using Scriptures, which is God's Word, written down under inspiration by Jehovah God Himself for our instruction.

No it’s not the truth. Just read 1 John 5:7-8 and see how Jehovah and Jesus were BOTH removed from those scriptures as witness bearers. Then verse nine of the same book makes Jehovah the greatest witness bearer. But how come he was removed from verse seven?? Also heaven and earth do not have the same witness bearers. They removed it because they foolishly believed 1 John 5:7 promotes the TRINITY. It does NOT promote the Trinity. It actually disproves the Trinity by promoting the TWO WITNESS LAW. If Jesus and Jehovah are the same person than His witness is not true. Therefore by removing the text the organization is guilty of breaking a biblical law and are doomed. They sinned against the HOLY SPIRIT. No forgiveness for that sin. NWT- Deuteronomy 4:2 *You must not add to the word that I am commanding you, neither must you take away from it...* NWT - Rev 22;18 -19 *I am bearing witness* to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone makes an addition to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this scroll; 19 *and if anyone takes anything away* from the words of the scroll of this prophecy, *God will take his portion away from the trees of life* and out of the holy city, As you can see... no forgiveness. So you may as well leave now or be guilty with the rest. Or pretend you never heard this, become prideful, turn on your cognitive dissonance and die with them.

roger schmidt No Jehovah before 1270 huh? The name "Jehovah" was created by Raymundus Martini, a Spanish monk of the Dominican Order huh?...Hahahahahaha!!! I laugh every time I hear that. The following are the credentials of Nehemia Gordon, a Karaite Jewish Historian with a PHD in Jewish history and what he discoverd about the divine Name: Nehemia Gordon (1972 -) is arguably the best known Karaite Jew of this era. He was born to an Orthodox Jewish family with a long line of Rabbis, but rejected the Talmud and became a Karaite Jew as a teenager. Nehemia is a native of Chicago but has lived in Jerusalem, Israel since making Aliyah in 1993." Gordon is considered a Hakham, a religious leader of the Karaite Jewish communities, and until recently served on Universal Karaite Judaism's "Religious Council" (which represents Israeli Karaites), and on the Board of Directors of the ancient Karaite synagogue in Jerusalem. He is also a co-founder of the World Karaite Movement, a Karaite revival group. He coordinates Aviv searches each year and releases information on the crescent new moon sightings in Israel. From 2007 to 2008, Nehemia Gordon served in the position of Provost of the Karaite Jewish University. Gordon holds a Master's degree in Biblical Studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He translated texts contained in the "Dead Sea Scrolls Reader", was an assistant on the Dead Sea Scrolls Publication project coordinated by Emanuel Tov, and worked as a researcher on the Hebrew University Bible Project under the auspices of Shemaryahu Talmon. THE NAME OF THE TRUE GOD The Bible, Masoretic texts, and Hebrew language give us vital clues to the name of the one true God. The Greek empire, the Roman empire and the Rabbis have gone to great lengths to suppress this information however with very different motives in mind. The name of God is written as 4 Hebrew consonants: י ה ו ה Yod-Hey-Vav-Hey In some of our oldest complete manuscripts of the Hebrew bible such as the Aleppo Codex and Leningrad Codex, we find Y-H-V-H marked with the vowel pointings for YeHVaH. This comes from the practice of removing the middle vowel so that only the Sages who passed on the name by ear to the next generation would know the correct pronunciation. Nehemia Gordon, a Karaite discovered the name of God with all 3 vowel points in Ezekiel 28:22 and Psalm 68:27 of the Aleppo Codex. The full name appeared as YEHOVAH Evidence from the Hebrew Language The Hebrew root here is HYH, consisting of 3 forms of the verb ‘TO BE‘. Hayah - He was Hoveh - He is Yihyeh - He will be That is why when God spoke to Moses in the wilderness he introduced himself as Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh [Exodus 3:14]. This has been translated a variety of ways: I AM that I AM [KJV] I AM/ WILL BE what I AM/WILL BE [CJB] Hebrew names give us another clue to this mystery as all Hebrew names have a meaning. The name YEHOSHUA (shortened to Yeshua during the second temple period) is a compound of two Hebrew words. YeHo(VaH) the name of God and Yoshia meaning ‘will save’. This brings a whole new meaning to Matthew chapter 1 where we are told the Messiah’s name shall be Yeshua because he will save (Yoshia). When God’s name appears in a compound name first, the Yod-Hey is pronounced YeHo. When the name is compounded at the end it is pronounced YaHu, eg, MattitYaHu meaning gift of God. Evidence of YEHOVAH in the JPS So far 4 places have been identified in the Hebrew text of the JPS Student Edition where Yehovah can be found with all 3 vowel pointings. Leviticus 25:17, Judges 14:6, Judges 14:19, Judges 15:14. The title page to the 1611 King James Version (KJV) of the bible contains the name of God (very top centre of page). In the KJV we find the name JEHOVAH is used. See Exodus 6:3, Psalm 83:18. There is no J sound in Hebrew. In old English ‘j’ was intended to be an extended “i” sound being pronounced as “y”. Applying the old English pronunciation gives us the name YEHOVAH. Due to the differences between old and modern English we would now read it as JEHOVAH. Whenever we see ‘LORD‘ uppercase in the KJV, the original Hebrew text is displaying the consonants Yod-Hey-Vav-Hey. The reason why it says LORD is because of a ban on saying the name imposed by the Pharisees. Lord is a title, not a name. The following verses should give some insight into the importance of knowing God’s holy name, and into our duty to proclaim his holy name. And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth. Exodus 9:16 For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the Lord, to serve him with one consent. Zephaniah 3:9 THE LOST TRIBES It is possible some of the lost tribes of Israel made their way to America before European expeditions. Cherokee Indians calling God by the name Yehovah and Yehowa is a striking coincidence. ……. HalleluYah (Praise Jehovah) ……. Reference Aleppo Codex Complete Jewish Bible King James Version Leningrad Codex Nehemia Gordon who has done extensive research into this topic.

roger schmidt I see no mention of any Catholic Monk named Raymundus Martini mentioned here. Only the Aleppo Codex and the Leningrad Codex which go back many centuries before Raymundus Martini with the 3 vowel points found in proper sequence as YeHoVaH or Jehovah in modern English. In fact, the divine name and its proper pronunciation in modern English is found at the beginning and/or at the end of many of the Hebrew names found in scripture with the proper vowel pointings in proper place : JEsus...................JE JErusalem............JE IsaiAH...................AH HezekiAH..............AH JEremiAH..............JE...AH JEpthAH.................JE...AH JEHOiakim..............JEHO JEHOshaphat..........JEHO JEHOAsh..................JEHOA If you are going to claim that there is no hard "J" in the English pronounciation of Jehovah, then you'll have to apply the same principle to all the Hebrew names that begin with the first part of the Tetragrammaton and use the same "J" that is found in the name Jehovah. For instance, you can now start calling Jesus YESUS, Jerusalem Yerusalem, Jeremiah Yeremiah, etc.
@donald2306
@donald2306 6 жыл бұрын
roger schmidt Your Catholic monk may have used the name, but he did not create it. That old information is based on what was known at the time it was written. Now all that information has been well expounded upon by Nehemia Gordon, and it shows the exact pronunciation in modern day English as Jehovah going back thousands of years. Jehovah's Witnesses are the most progressive Christian religion in the world. As they gain more accurate information from historians and archaeology and as they gain better understanding of scripture, they progress in their beliefs and teachings accordingly....something the churches of Christendom refuse to do and the reason they are still stuck in old pagan practices and traditions dating back to the days of Nimrod and ancient Babylon.
@donald2306

roger schmidt Who says the aid to bible understanding book was wrong? I didn't. The aid book states that the Catholic monk USED the name, not that he invented it. Opposers and apostates try to claim that the Catholic monk INVENTED it which is an outright lie! Anyway, there's no way for you to deny the proof that the divine name is Jehovah and that it is pronounced as Jehovah with a hard "J" in modern English just as the scriptures show it should be. Your attempt to deny the proper modern day English pronounciation of God's name with a hard "J" shows how desperate and dishonest you are because you refuse to use the exact same principle with biblical names such as Jehoiachim and Jehoshaphat, etc. which show you EXACTLY how the JEHO part of Jehovah's name is properly pronounced in modern English. Oh...and the fact that Jehovah's Witnesses have had the divine name right from the word go would likely have something to do with Jehovah's spirit directing them to do so!
@donald2306
@donald2306 6 жыл бұрын
roger schmidt Listen pal...no matter how you twist and grovel, it's an undeniable fact that Jehovah's Witnesses have the divine name right and are the only people who make the divine name, Jehovah, known earth wide just as the bible says God's people would. It has just been proven to you both historically from the Jewish viewpoint itself, and from the scriptures that God's name is Jehovah and is pronounced as such in modern English. That's just a fact that's not going to change for you, so just accept it. You have no choice!

Very astute study of the fall of Jerusalem, as well as the exile of the Jews for 70 Years. Jehovah's Witnesses use the internal chronology as a way to confirm dates, and not just go with the dates made by archeologists, who are often wrong. In fact, most archeologists did not believe the Bible's account of Balshazzar, the last king of the Babylonian empire until they found the evidence in the 1800's. So I would not put faith in ALL of their date calculations. Here is a simple chronological table of key Bible events that should serve as a framework for which Jehovah's Witnesses calculate dates: Event Calendar Date Time Period Between Events From the creation of Adam 4026 B.C.E. To the start of the Flood 2370 B.C.E. 1,656 years To the validating of the Abrahamic covenant 1943 B.C.E. 427 years To the Exodus from Egypt 1513 B.C.E. 430 years To the start of the temple construction 1034 B.C.E. 479 years To the division of the kingdom 997 B.C.E. 37 years To the desolation of Judah 607 B.C.E. 390 years To the return of the Jews from exile 537 B.C.E. 70 years To the rebuilding of Jerusalem’s walls 455 B.C.E. 82 years To the baptism of Jesus 29 C.E. 483 years To the present 2018 C.E. 1989 years

Nebuchadnezzar responded by invading Judah[1] and began a siege of Jerusalem in December 589 BC. During this siege, the duration of which was either 18 or 30 months,[2] the Bible describes the city as enduring horrible deprivation.[3] After completion of the eleventh year of Zedekiah's reign,[4] Nebuchadnezzar broke through Jerusalem's walls, conquering the city. Zedekiah and his followers attempted to escape but were captured on the plains of Jericho and taken to Riblah. There, after seeing his sons killed, Zedekiah was blinded, bound, and taken captive to Babylon,[5] where he remained a prisoner until his death. After the fall of Jerusalem, the Babylonian general, Nebuzaraddan, was sent to complete its destruction. Jerusalem was plundered, and Solomon's Temple was destroyed. Most of the elite were taken into captivity in Babylon. The city was razed to the ground. Only a few people were permitted to remain to tend to the land.[6] The Jew Gedaliah was made governor of the remnant of Judah, the Yehud Province, with a Chaldean guard stationed at Mizpah.[7] The Bible reports that, on hearing this news, Jews who had fled to Moab, Ammon, Edom, and in other countries returned to Judah.[8] Gedaliah was assassinated by Ishmael son of Nethaniah two months later, and the population that had remained and those who had returned then fled to Egypt for safety.[9] In Egypt, they settled in Migdol (it is uncertain where the Bible is referring to here, probably somewhere in the Nile Delta), Tahpanhes, Memphis (called Noph), and Pathros (the vicinity of Thebes).[10] Chronological notes There has been some debate as to when the second siege of Jerusalem took place. There is no dispute that Jerusalem fell the second time in the summer month of Tammuz (Jeremiah 52:6), but William F. Albright dates the end of Zedekiah's reign and the fall of Jerusalem to 587 BC, but Edwin R. Thiele offers 586 BC.[11] Thiele's reckoning is based on the presentation of Zedekiah's reign on an accession basis, which he asserts was occasionally used for the kings of Judah. In that case, the year that Zedekiah came to the throne would be his zeroth year; his first full year would be 597/596 BC, and his eleventh year, the year that Jerusalem fell, would be 587/586 BC. Since Judah's regnal years were counted from Tishri in autumn, that would place the end of his reign and the capture of Jerusalem in the summer of 586 BC.[11][12] The Nebuchadnezzar Chronicle (BM 21946), published in 1956, indicates that Nebuchadnezzar captured Jerusalem the first time putting an end to the reign of Jehoaichin, on 2 Adar (16 March) 597 BC, in Nebuchadnezzar's seventh year.[13] Jeremiah 52:28-29 gives the relative periods for the end of the two sieges as Nebuchadnezzar's seventh and eighteenth years, respectively. (The same periods are elsewhere described at 2 Kings 24:12 and 2 Kings 25:8 as Nebuchadnezzar's eighth and nineteenth years, including his accession year.) Identification of Nebuchadnezzar's eighteenth year for the end of the siege places the event in the summer of 587 BC.

Smh The guy even believes that JW's have given FALSE PROPHESIES when the absolute Truth is that JW's have simply had / given WRONG EXPECTATIONS and or information regarding DIVINE PROPHESIES IN THE BIBLE (which mind you many of God's faithful apostles and prophets have done). The Bible itself at Daniel 12:4 shows that there would be a great increase in knowledge of the truth during “the time of the end.” (then again, perhaps Roger Schmidt doesn't believe that we are even living "in the time of the end") Increased knowledge often REQUIRES adjustments in one’s thinking. Jehovah’s Witnesses are willing humbly to make such adjustments, have done so and will CONTINUE to do so. Many of God's people from the nation of Israel felt about Moses and Aaron (God's appointed IMPERFECT male representatives) the EXACT WAY as Roger Schmidt does about the members of the governing body of JW's. It therefore comes as no surprise to JW's that MANY feel the way they do about the imperfect members of the governing body of JW's. This is only natural of those who are truly PART of the present "world", it's as natural as breathing for such ones. JESUS CHRIST is THE LEADER of the worldwide Christian congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses (including its governing body)... Period. :-)

Roger Schmidt stated in part: " Still, how many religions do you know where their leaders actually claim to be someone from the Bible? " Hmmm, 1st century Christianity itself. Jesus of Nazareth (the Leader of Christianity) claimed to be the foretold MESSIAH himself. Keep in mind that the Bible foretold the rise and fall of the Egyptian Empire, Assyrian Empire, Babylonian Empire, Medo-Persian Empire, Grecian Empire, Roman Empire and Anglo-American Empire. It also foretold events that would specifically take place during our PRESENT time-period which it calls The Last Days / Final Part of the Days. Jesus Christ's Faithful & Discreet Slave was part of the composite sign of his heavenly royal Parousia (Presence) which would occur during the last days of the present "world" (global ungodly system of things) and being that we ARE NOW living in the last days, Christ by reason of necessity in accordance to his word NOW has existing on Earth his Faithful and Discreet Slave. Jehovah’s Witnesses FULLY recognize that arrangement. During the 1st century there was no need to ask who was the Faithful and Discreet Slave being that the THEN governing body of the Christian congregation (the apostles and older men in Jerusalem) were the ones dispensing spiritual food to the THEN worldwide Christian congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses (as the Christians were witnesses of Almighty Jehovah God but THROUGH Jesus Christ). However, with the foretold great apostasy having undergone fulfillment (CHRISTENDOM) and in full bloom in the Last Days, it was NECESSARY for Christ to ask who REALLY is the Faithful and Discreet Slave or who would REALLY prove to BE his Faithful and Discreet Slave which would be spiritually feeding his people during the time of his Heavenly royal Parousia. It most certainly WAS NOT and IS NOT ANY of the religions of CHRISTENDOM... Not by a long shot. (1) From most of their Bible translations they have removed the name of the true God thousands of times. (2) The Trinity doctrine, their concept of God himself, is borrowed from pagan sources and was developed in its present form centuries after Bible writing was completed. (3) Their belief in immortality of the human soul as the basis for continued life is not taken from the Bible; it has roots in ancient Babylon. (4) The theme of Jesus’ preaching was THE KINGDOM GOVERNMENT OF GOD, and he sent his disciples out to talk personally to others about it; but the churches of CHRISTENDOM today seldom mention that Kingdom and their members are not doing the work of preaching “this good news of the kingdom.” (Matt. 24:14) (5) Jesus said that his true followers could be readily identified by their self-sacrificing love for one another. Is that true of the religions of CHRISTENDOM when the nations go to war? (6) The Bible says that Christ’s disciples would be NO PART OF THE WORLD, and it warns that whoever wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an ENEMY of God; but the churches of CHRISTENDOM and their members are DEEPLY involved in the political affairs of the nations. (Jas. 4:4) (7) Don't even get me started on the adherence to and celebrating of Holidays (so called "Holy Days") that are beyond the shadow of any doubt proven to have their origin deeply rooted in paganism. In view of such a record, can it honestly be said that the churches of CHRISTENDOM really adhere to the Bible? ??? NO WAY!!! ALL of the religions of CHRISTENDOM have AS A WHOLE produced absolutely nothing but ROTTEN FRUITAGE. On the other hand, the worldwide Christian congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses AS A WHOLE has produced good fruitage. Have the Bible based teachings of JW's truly uplifted people morally AS A WHOLE? Are those who adhere to these teachings outstanding in their communities AS A WHOLE because of their honesty? Is their family life AS A WHOLE beneficially influenced by applying these teachings? At John 13:35 Jesus said that his disciples would be readily identified because of having love AMONG THEMSELVES. Is this quality outstanding among Jehovah’s Witnesses AS A WHOLE or not? JW's let the facts speak for themselves. :-)

When Daniel discerned by "the books" (Dan 9:2) the number of years, 70 years, Jeremiah 25:8-12 would have been a prophecy he had in mind. It says Jehovah would send Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon "against this land" (Judah) and "against all these nations round about" (other nations that came under dominion of Babylon). It's not saying that Judah and all the other nations went into exile. In Jeremiah 25:11 it says: "And all this land must become a devastated place, an object of astonishment, AND THESE NATIONS will have to SERVE the king of Babylon seventy years." (Jehovah did finally send the king of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar against Judah to destroy it in 587/6 bce.) The siege of Harran and its fall in 609bce marked the end of the Assyrian monarchy and the start of the neo-Babylonian empire's domination under king Nabopolassar. Could it be that from this point on the nations began serving "the king of Babylon" ???(Nabopolassar). So starting at 609bce the nations began serving the king of Babylon until 539bce where Jehovah called "to account against the king of Babylon and against that nation" (Nabonidus) (Jeremiah 25:12). So 609bce to 539bce is 70 years of service to the king of Babylon. After 70 years of service Cyrus took Babylon and killed the Babylonian king.

Take note that if the exile started in 607 the bible says that the destruction was 19 years 5 months after Nebuchadnezzar began rule, and that the exile started while leaving the lowly inhabitants in jerusalem, so it wasn't destroyed when the exile began... so the bible agrees exile started in 607, but destruction would then be in 586. This is not apostates trying to debunk JW's, it is a mountain of archaeological evidence, literally thousands of neo-babylonian era documents pointing to 586, and also even JW literature can be used to calculate 586, they just took it out of circulation... the only conspiracy is the JW's refusing to admit they are wrong because it deflates all of their authority. Look at jwfacts.com and look at all the false prophecies, scandals, and high control unnecessarily put on members... joining that church will be the worst decision you ever make, the bible says you will be "fully equipped " by reading it on your own, the JW orginization will only twist scripture to get you to serve them so they can keep building new kingdom halls and selling them off to make a bunch of money on your free labor.... run... run away from these liars...

Jamie Bigham, the Biblical chronology holds the date of 587 BCE. In Insight on the Scriptures, volume 1, for Darius, page 633, last paragraph says: "the Foundation of the temple was placed in 536 a. C.E., but the work of reconstruction in 522 a. E.C. was banned and "continued detention until the second year of the reign of Darius" (520 BCE.)." (Ezra 4:4, 5, 24.) During that year, the prophets Haggai and Zechariah encouraged Jews to resume construction, and work was undertaken. (Ezra 5:1, 2; Haggai 1: 1, 14, 15; Zechariah 1:1) "." The Bible teaches in Zechariah 7:1-5 that in the fourth year of Darius (517-518 BCE.), Jehovah himself estimated that for 70 years, the Jews fasted every year since the destruction of Jerusalem. Since that 517 + 70 = 587, there is no doubt that the Bible instructs 587 BCE as the actual date of the destruction of Jerusalem.

This calculation below is in connection with signs of the times and 1914 (CALCULATING THE "SEVEN TIMES" so for example: "Seven Times" = 7 x 360 = 2,520 years A Biblical time or year = 12 x 30 days = 360 (Revelation 11:2, 3; 12:5, 14) So in the fulfillment of the "seven time" each day EQUALS ONE year. (Ezekiel 4:8; Numbers 14:34) Early October, 607 B.C.E., to December 31, 607 B.C.E., = 1/4 Year January 1, 606 B.C.E., to December 31, B.C.E., = 605 Years January 1, 1 C.E., to December 31, 1913 = 1,913 Years January 1, 1914, to Early October , 1914 = 3/4 Year This Totals 2,520 years There must be a strong correlation between 70 CE and 1914 as being predicted when God's heavenly Kingdom was established seeing the global conflict of WW1 as signs of the times. Not sure myself but this may need deeper research ??? I hope this little bit of information might be helpful to giving you the clue you are searching for??? :) Good luck with your research lol! There seems to always have been a presumptive estimation as to the dates of Jewish historical events. Perhaps Jehovah's Witnesses go by Bible chronological dating to get more accurate details At least we can have a good starting point at 70 C.E. (Destruction of Jerusalem as there are Roman coins available commemorating this event. Jesus prophesied that the Temple of Jerusalem would be destroyed in 70 C.E. Those who know their bible history can thus be assured also that Jesus foretold them these events and Jerusalem had been preserved until 70 CE in order for the Messianic prophesies to be fulfilled. The destruction of the temple was destroyed and gutted by the Romans According to Josephus this took place on the Anniversary of Nebuchadnezzar's destruction of the first temple where Jehovah's worship was held centuries earlier. His account also states that the repository of the archives housing the genealogical records of tribal and family descent and inheritance rights were put to the fire. Thus the legal means for establishing the lineage of members of the Messianic Tribe of Judah and the priestly tribe of Levi came to an end. In just four months and twenty five days from April 11 to September 7, 70 C.E. the conquest of Jerusalem's destruction had been effected. Nowhere in your calculations is the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade. The most disregarded event in human history seems to mirror Jehovah’s reason for Armageddon and judgments on all nations... Joel 3:1-2 For look! in those days and in that time, When I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem,a 2 I will also *gather together all the nations* And *bring them down to the Valley of Je·hoshʹa·phat.* I will *enter into judgment with them there* *In behalf of my people* and my inheritance Israel, *For they scattered them among the nations* And *they divided up my land* among themselves The above prophecy is simple but since it’s from God you will not accept his explanation. You follow men. Also you’ll have to reconcile the true identity of God’s chosen people if you obey this prophecy. Jehovah’s witnesses certainly were NOT scattered into nations and removed from their homeland and have their land divided. The very people who enslaved my people taught the world these doctrines...Jehovah will repay vengeance... Joel 3:6-8 And the people of Judah and Jerusalem *you have sold to the Greeks* In order to remove them far from their territory; 7 Here I am rousing them to come from the place where you sold them, And *I will bring your repayment on your heads.* 8 *I will sell your sons and daughters into the hand of the people of Judah* So who are the real Jews? Their curses are their sign. (Deuteronomy 28:46) 1914 doctrine is simply designed to distract you from the simplicity of scripture. Wasting your efforts and trying to be fascinating scholars, meanwhile... Jehovah keeps His word and chooses the foolish things to confound the wise.

If using 607 then using the "Calculating the 7 times, (which I will send you), that this then culminates to 1914, when there was the global conflict of WW1. This kind of resonates with the signs of that generation (us) and our great grandparents, when JW state we enter into that last of the generations that may see the arrival of Armageddon. According to scientific research I have done, many factions believe our world is going through a transition. Anyway, I am too weary watching Jamie at a quandary lol, because no matter what you summise the correct dating is 607. Lol! I am getting itchy with frustration hahaha!

In this comment I'll touch on some of your statements in the order they appear in the video. I won't here try to prove most of what I say, since that is done in the links on the ad1914.com/ website, but just state the results. Jerusalem was destroyed in 587, not 586 BCE. The Jews returned to Judah in 538 or 537 BCE, with 538 a clear favorite since Josephus gives information that resolves the date. An exhaustive search on Google Scholar shows an almost even split in opinion on 538 or 537, but almost no one gives actual arguments for either date. A great many Christians (and secular scholars) DO NOT say that the Jews went into exile for 70 years. Prove this for yourself by reading the books by Thiele, Finegan and Jonsson. Daniel 1 & 2 imply that a first exile of just a handful of elite Jews like Daniel, occurred in 605 BCE. Jer. 52:28-30 explicitly states that captivities occurred in Nebuchadnezzar's 7th, 18th and 23rd years. The 18th year is counted by Babylonian reckoning of the dates of kings' reigns (see below), and more or less corresponds to the 19th year reckoned by Jewish dating in 2 Kings 25. So according to the Bible itself, there were FOUR exiles -- in 605, 597, 587 and 582 BCE. Furthermore, in "Against Apion", Josephus quotes figures from Babylonian historian Berossus showing that the Temple lay desolate for 50 -- not 70 -- years, which precisely corresponds with 587 through 537 BCE (the Temple was begun to be rebuilt the year after the Jews' return, but not completed for another 20 years). You say that various scriptures all talk about a 70 year exile. But that's a misrepresentation by the Watch Tower Society. Let's see what the passages you referenced actually say. Quotations are from the New American Standard Bible from www.biblegateway.com/ . Jer. 29:10 > Nothing about 70 years of exile here. Rather, it speaks of 70 years FOR BABYLON, i.e., 70 years of Babylonian supremacy in the Near East. 2 Chron. 36:22-23 > Nothing about 70 years of exile here. Ezra 1:1-4 is essentially a duplicate of the above, and says nothing about 70 years of exile. Dan. 9:1-2 > Nothing about 70 years of exile here. Rather, the passage speaks of 70 years for the completion of 70 years of "the DESOLATIONS of Jerusalem". Compare this with the original NWT's rendering: > Again nothing about 70 years of exile here. Note that both renderings speak of the devastations -- plural -- of Jerusalem. That is consistent with general Hebrew usage that a Jewish city that had been conquered, or which had been somehow violated (like having captives taken from it), was considered "devastated" from a spiritual point of view. Since captives were taken from Jerusalem in 605, 597 and 587 BCE, it was certainly "devastated" until the captives returned in 538 BCE. The passage in Daniel 9 indicates that Daniel looked into "the books" immediately after the fall of Babylon, and before the Jews returned to Judah. Thus, having seen Babylon fall and be punished (Jer. 25:12; Dan. 5), he knew that, according to Jer 29:10, the 70 years of Babylonian supremacy were over, and the Jews would soon return to Judah. You repeatedly say that "the Internet says . . ." But keep in mind that sources like Wikipedia are just repeating the results of widely accepted scholarship, such as is explained in the book references I gave you. You're obviously confused by Bible and secular statements about certain dates, like Nebuchadnezzar's 18th or 19th year for the same event, so I'll try to clear this up. Secular history mostly dates events with regard to Babylon by Babylonian date reckoning, where a calendar year begins in the spring (Nisan) and counts the reign of a king by the accession-year method, i.e., the year in which the king actually began ruling was counted as his accession (0th) year, the next year as the 1st, etc. The Jews at various times used four different dating methods, where the year could have started in Nisan or Tishri, and kings' reigns were counted by accession or non-accession year methods. This can get pretty complicated, but scholars have mostly figured it all out. You cannot sensibly mix and match Bible and secular dates without accounting for the dating method behind a date or event. Thus, using only Babylonian dating, Nebuchadnezzar's accession year was 605, and the destruction of Jerusalem occurred in his 18th year (cf. Jer. 52:29) which was 587. But by Jewish counting, using non-accession-year and Tishri dating, that destruction was in Nebuchadnezzar's 19th year. One other complication is that our modern Gregorian calendar, and the Julian calendar which is used by historians and astronomers, do not line up with the Babylonian or Jewish calendars. The latter were lunar calendars, so the 1st day of the 1st month of a year is shifted from year to year by a few days or weeks from the corresponding day in the Julian calendar. So a careful historian would say that Nebuchadnezzar's accession year was 605/4 BCE. Yet another complication to account for. With the above in mind, the numbers add up perfectly, and secular and biblical dates are remarkably consistent. Thus, Nebuchadnezzar's 0th year began in spring (Nisan 1), 605 BCE, and ran until the day before Nisan 1 of 604 BCE; hence we say that his accession year was 605/4 BCE. So for Zedekiah's reign of 11 years, and counting by Jewish non-accession Tishri dating, his 1st year began in the calendar year running from Tishri, 598 BCE up to Tishri, 597 BCE, with his actual ascension to the throne in late Adar or early Nisan (the Bible does not specify this) of 597 BCE. If the 1st year is 598/597, the 11th year is 588/587 BCE, which puts the end of Zedekiah's reign in the summer of 587 BCE. No issue with dates here. As for fitting "the 70 years" into this timeframe, remember that this was NOT a period of exile of the Jews, but of Babylonian supremacy, possibly beginning in 609 BCE and definitely ending in 539 BCE. If you insist on a timeframe for the desolation of Judah beginning with Jerusalem's destruction, then 587 through 538 fits the bill. In conclusion, it's not that "all of the scriptures about the 70 years are wrong", but that many of the Watch Tower Society's claims about what these scriptures say is wrong, as shown in my comments. Do not confuse what the Watch Tower Society says with what the Bible says.

This might sound very stupid, but many historians and scholars appear to be atheist. This probably being the case, why would they try so hard to discredit only one religion (i.e.JWs)? Wouldn't they seek to discredit all Christian religions? I don't believe these scholars targeted JWs. They just state the facts written on the cuneiform tablets. What churches choose to do with that information is up to them. They scholars didn't have JWs in mind when stating these facts I assure you. They are upset at this info only because it contradicts what they have been teaching millions of people and since they say they are the "truth", they cannot be caught in a lie. I am not saying your research is wrong as I read something else that came pretty close to a 606bce date based on using both Jewish and Babylonian calendars. All I am saying is that the scholars are not wrong about historical information regarding the destruction. I personally believe what Jesus said about God hiding the truth from wise and intellectual ones and revealing it to children. With this said, the truth regarding the prophecy may still be out there, but cold hard facts cannot be disputed, so for now I agree with 587 bce until God proves differently if he so chooses to reveal. I am no longer affiliated with Jehovah's Witness, but am a baptised Christian who loves God and his word and am seeking absolute truth. On a final note though, I do agree with you that JWs are not wrong about everything. All religions have a grain of truth. When they are studied and compared to the bible text it can be seen which things are truth and which things are lies (especially if God's spirit directs you). God bless.

"Now, let's consider some of them: 1) VAT 4956 is the astronomical diary from what is thought to be, 37th year of King Nebuchadnezzar. The diary is a copy created a couple of centuries later, which is not problematic in itself. The problem is in the fact that the scribe struggled with archaic expressions which means that during the modernization of obsolete words he could make mistakes. Another, even bigger problem is that the scribe copied quite damaged copy. Twice in the text the scribe added a remark "broken off" (THE GENTILE TIMES RECONSIDERED page 162). The obverse of the clay tablet records observations from day 1 of the 1st month until the 15th day of the 3rd month, while on the reverse as the earliest date we find the 19th day of the 10th month! Thus, there is a break of at least seven months !!! The penultimate line of the diary begins with "38th year of Nebuchadnezzar," and the last line with "37th year [of Nebuchadnezzar]". Does not that give us reason to doubt that the diary is, perhaps, chronologically jumbled? Although an ardent believer in the traditional chronology and author of THE GENTILE TIMES RECONSIDERED would protest fiercely, I am claiming that modern astronomical calculations do not help in eliminating these doubts! Take, for example, information from this link: www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/bible/216051/1/Do-All-13-Sets-Of-Lunar-Positions-On-VAT-4956-Fit-The-Year-588-587-B-C-E According to the calculations, the weight of evidence favors 568/67 BC over 588/87 as the 37th year of Nebuchadnezzar. However, while 9 observations match perfectly with 568/67, one observation is inaccurate, while the two are marked as bad, which means that there is a 25% mismatch between the observations in a diary and astronomical calculations for the year 568/7! It is interesting that the data on the reverse almost perfectly matches the modern calculation (5 of 6 observations match perfectly, while for the one we can not make a conclusion because the exact day is not entirely legible). Looking at the data on the obverse we'll see four matches, but right there you will find three mismatches, which in percentage is 43% !! " archive.org/details/treegenerationsandappointedtimes.7z

WHY IS THE YEAR 1914 SO IMPORTANT? The prophecy in Daniel chapter 4 teaches us that God would set up his kingdom in 1914. The prophecy: Jehovah gave king Nebuchadnezzar a prophetic dream about a large tree that was chopped down. In the dream, a band of iron and copper was put around the tree's stump to stop it from growing for a period of seven times." after that, the tree would grow again---Daniel 4 : 1, 10 -16 WHAT THE PROPHECY means for us: the tree represents God's rulership.for many years, Jehovah used king in Jerusalem to rule over the nation of Israel.( 1 Chronicles 29 : 23) but those kings became unfaithful, and their rulership ended.Jerusalem was destroyed in the year 607 B.C.E.That was the start of the seven times." ( 2 king 25 : 1, 8--10 ; Ezekiel 21 : 25 -27) when Jesus said, Jerusalem will be trumpled on by the nations until the appointed times of the nations are fulfilled," he was talking about the seven times." ( Luke 21 : 24) so the seven times" did not end when Jesus was on earth, Jehovah promised to appoint a king at the end of the seven times." The rulership of this new king, Jesus, would bring great blessings for God's people all over the earth,forever--Luke 1 : 30--33 The length of the seven times": The seven times lasted for 2,520 years. If we count 2,520 years from the year 607 B.C.E. we end up at the year 1914. That was when Jehovah made Jesus,the Messiah, king of God's kingdom in heaven.. How do we get the number 2,520? The Bible says that three and a half times equal. 1,260 days. ( Revelation. 12 : 6, 14) So " seven times" is a double that number, or 2, 520 days. The 2,520 days are equal to 2,520 years because of the prophetic rule" a day for a year." --Number 14 : 34 ; Ezekiel 4 : 6,

"If we count 2,520 years from the year 607 B.C.E." Why would you do that? What were the 70 years? Of dominance of Babylon over the nations or servitude of Judahites or depopulation of Judah? Note the sentence "Evidently, the 70 years represents the period of Babylonia’s greatest domination -when the Babylonian royal dynasty boasts of having lifted its throne even above “the stars of God.”" in the following quote from one of the Society's articles? The Isaiah's Prophecy- Light for all Mankind vol.1, page 253, paragraph 21 "Isaiah goes on to prophesy: “It must occur in that day that Tyre must be forgotten seventy years, the same as the days of one king.” Following the destruction of the mainland city by the Babylonians, the island-city of Tyre will “be forgotten.” True to the prophecy, for the duration of “one king” -the Babylonian Empire- the island-city of Tyre will not be an important financial power. Jehovah, through Jeremiah, includes Tyre among the nations that will be singled out to drink the wine of His rage. He says: “These nations will have to serve the king of Babylon seventy years.” True, the island-city of Tyre is not subject to Babylon for a full 70 years, since the Babylonian Empire falls in 539 B.C.E. Evidently, the 70 years represents the period of Babylonia’s greatest domination -when the Babylonian royal dynasty boasts of having lifted its throne even above “the stars of God.” Different nations come under that domination at different times. But at the end of 70 years, that domination will crumble. What will then happen to Tyre?Can you demonstrate that the first returnees from Babylon did arrive in 537 BCE?" How can 70 years be of desolation, destruction and servitude in Babylon when applied to Judah but only of domination of Babylon as regional hegemon when applied to all the other nations in Jeremiah's prophecy? It sounds like cherry-picking an interpretation to conform to a pre-conceived doctrine in order to support 1914 CE to me. I see no sound exegesis going on here. (Jeremiah 25:12 NWT) “‘But when 70 years have been fulfilled, I will call to account the king of Babylon and that nation for their error,’ declares Jehovah, ‘and I will make the land of the Chal·deʹans a desolate wasteland for all time. " When do you think the king of Babylon and that nation were called to account? Note that this is AFTER the 70 years are completed. The plainest answer is that this was in 539 BCE with the accession of Cyrus. I'd be interested to hear what the JW explanation of this calling to account in 537 BCE or after is supposed to be. Then there's the plain and simple fact that 539 BCE is as solid date as other dates gleaned from interpreting astronomical tablets linked to Neo-Babylonian Kings. Why use 539 BCE as your absolute date and calculate, figure 2 years later for the first return of exiles and then 70 years earlier to arrive at 607 BCE as the destruction of the temple? It would be just as sound to start with 605 BCE for the accession of Nebuchadnezzar II, figure his 18th year and the destruction of the temple in 587 BCE and calculate the accession of Cyrus 70 years later to be in 517 BCE. Both methods are wrong, but equally invalid. Why choose one over the other? Is it just to protect what is the real fixed date in JW chronology, that of 1914 CE? The claim is that you prioritize the Bible and reject secular chronology, but this is applied selectively. Your 539 BCE date is based on secular chronology fo a start, as noted above. Not only that but if you look at the 70 weeks prophecy in Daniel, the obvious prima facie interpretation is that the 70 weeks starts from when Cyrus released the Judahites to reinhabit their land. Yet you reject that because it doesn't fit secular chronology which puts the arrival of Jesus much later than the Cyrus based interpretation would suggest. Instead you mangle another bit of Secular chronology to have Artaxerxes' 20th year in 455 BCE. Why do you stick to what looks to you like the natural interpretation of the 70 years prophecy in the face of overwhelming secular evidence against the idea but opt to mangle less secular evidence in not taking the plain interpretation of the 70 weeks prophecy? It seems inconsistent. Then we could turn to the complete lack of secular evidence in support of your 607 BCE date. How would you identify that you have adopted a correct interpretation? Would you expect the secular evidence to conform to a correct interpretation or to at least have a solid alternative explanation for why the secular evidence is being misinterpreted? Clearly the evidence doesn't fit your model and the Society has no explanation for why it doesn't and can offer no account of the 20 years of history they claim must exist but for which there is no record. How can you believe this interpretation? What would disprove it? If you can think of no way to disprove it, you have no way to test it. If you have no way to test to see if the model is real or false, how can it be relied upon?

Well when you use your own sources to prove you're right it doesn't really mean anything. The reason why archaeology says 587 BCE period is because of the Babylonian cuneiform tablets. Which also maps out the exact existence of star and planets location. These skies don't re occur for thousands of years. The watchtower also has used the same cuneiform tablets to prove the existence of Nebuchadnezzar. The 1914 belief started by measuring out the pyramid of Gaza. Very easy to find!
@andrewgraham6496
@andrewgraham6496 5 жыл бұрын
The WT (JWs) never need the cuneiform tablets to confirm the existence of Nebuchadnezzar and why? simple, old Neb is mentioned in the bible itself, by name! The OP video, shows, that the Archaeologists are using guess work and omit pertinent information, as the OP video clearly shows, even WIKI has fallen for these half truths and certain dates are clearly wrong, lest all four prophets, who mention the 70 years are wrong and if JWs truly have it wrong, it throws out many OT prophesies, one being, that, the Messiah did not come and was baptised in 29 CE, so, secular and atheistic scholars, most not even believing the bible to start with, with the help of some apostate ex-JWs are in essence, calling the bible and its prophets liars and at best mistaken and deluded! As far as I am aware most, if not all, agree that the exile was for 70 years and that Babylon fell in 539 BCE, the Jews left after a 2 years grace period , so the Maths is rather simple, 607 607 - 537 = 70 years the problem with many scholars, is that, they acknowledge no power higher than their secular and atheistic selves and mere use the bible to pick holes in it and many fall for their tactics, well, WIKI is one of them!

In chapter 5 'the 70 years for Babylon' is explained. First he shows that the 70 years refer to the period of subservience to Babylon, not to Jerusalem's desolation. Therefore the right question to be asked is: When did the period of servitude begin? Jeremiah's prediction of the 70 years in chapt. 25:10-12 did not refer to a period of complete desolation of Jerusalem, but a period of servitude, not for Judah, but for "these nations", that is, the nations surrounding Judah. The answer to the right question therefore is that the servitude evidently began in 605 B.C.E Although it is true that the servitude of a number of nations turned out to be somewhat less than 70 years, the prophecy does not clearly imply that the 70 years "for Babylon" should be reckoned from 605 B.C.E It must be remembered that all nations were predicted to become servants of Babylon: "all the nations must serve him and his son and his grandson" (Jeremiah 27:7, NW) Some nations had become subject to Babylon even prior to the battle of Carchemish in 605 B.C.E If the 70 years "for Babylon" are counted from the time when Babylon crushed the Assyrian empire, thus beginning to step forward as the dominant political power itself, even a more exact application of the 70 years is possible. If the Babylonian supremacy is reckoned from 609 B.C.E, the year that marked the definite end of the Assyrian empire, exactly 70 years elapsed up to the fall of Babylon in 539 B.C.E. This period may be counted as the "seventy years for Babylon" (Jeremiah 29:10)

How does the "period of servitude" coincide with Zedekiah's 11 year rule IN YOUR VIEW please? Are you saying that this "period of servitude" by the Jews did not have to be a 70 years minimum? Thank you brother.

Servitude should not be taken to mean the same thing as desolation and exile. To serve Babylon meant to be a vassal and therefore be spared from desolation and deportation. Thus only the nations that refused to serve Babylon would become devastated. This fate at last befell Judah after about 18 years of servitude, interrupted by repeated rebellions. So, the 70 years of servitude foretold by Jeremiah did not apply to Judah as a nation, but only to the Nations who submitted to the king of Babylon. Jerusalem was desolated in Zedekiah's 11th year. This doesn't alter either perspective. It is quite possible that 70 years were used as a round number. I personally , from my experience of bible studying (which I believe) don't take figures literally, for example I often realised from reading, that in old testament stories "3 days" was repeatedly used as the margin of time between one event to the next. Another example is jewish kings are often reported to have ruled for "40 years." In the gospels there are several differences, numeral-included, while narrating of the same episode.

I feel bad for your situation, Jamie, but there are ways to help resolve it. One way is to get your head on straight about the false chronology of the Neo-Babylonian era you were taught by the JWs and that you still accept. The comments section of a KZbin video is no place to hash all this out, so what I say here is necessarily overly simplified. I must also say that fully understanding Neo-Babylonian chronology requires far more knowledge than you've displayed in your comments, so it's no surprise that you've gotten many things a bit, or completely, wrong. Your main error is actually twofold: The JWs do not explicitly claim that "the 70 years" was a period of exile, but of the desolation of Judah. They tend to sort of imply 70 years of exile, but that doesn't work because of the eight month round trip time from Jerusalem to Babylon. Exactly 70 years of desolation of Judah means only 69 years and 4 months of exile -- which they do not teach. Furthermore, the Bible nowhere states that the Jews would be, or were, in exile for 70 years, or that Judah was desolate for that long. You can prove this to yourself by simply writing down the various passages you think speak of a 70-year exile, using many different Bible translations, and understanding what they say. What you'll find is that the 70 years spoken of by Jeremiah were actually a time of Babylonian supremacy over the Near East. That supremacy lasted from 609 BCE, when Babylon conquered the last remnants of the Assyrian Empire, to 539 BCE, when the Medo-Persian Empire under Cyrus the Great conquered Babylon. It's easy to look up this information on the Internet, although you'll find that some dates vary by a year or two. It's surprising to most people that you need only two Bible passages to establish what I said above. The following are from the latest New World Translation. The first says that Nebuchadnezzar "carried off captive to Babylon those who escaped the sword, and they became servants to him and his sons until the kingdom of Persia began to reign . . ." (2 Chronicles 36:20). Clearly then, Nebuchadnezzar's dynasty ended when the Persians began to reign in 539 BCE. That pins the end of "the 70 years" of Babylonian supremacy to 539 BCE. The second directly defines Babylonian supremacy as the servitude of many nations to Babylon: " '. . . these nations will have to serve the king of Babylon for 70 years. But when 70 years have been fulfilled, I will call to account the king of Babylon and that nation for their error,' declares Jehovah . . ." (Jeremiah 25:11-12) Other translations use "punish" in place of "call to account". When was "the king of Babylon" punished? Obviously in 539 BCE, when Cyrus' army invaded the city of Babylon and killed King Belshazzar, thus ending Nebuchadnezzar's dynasty. Daniel chapter 5 gives many details of these events. Thus, 2 Chron. 36:20 and Jer. 25:11-12, all by themselves (of course, in combination with various cuneiform tablets), establish that "the 70 years" ended in 539 BCE. Almost all other Bible passages bearing on this are clearly consistent with the above two. A handful of others are ambiguous, but easily understood in light of the clearly unambiguous passages. You referred to one of these ambiguous passages in your comment to John Cedars: > Actually it does not. The passage is ambiguous and can be understood the way you say, but it can also be understood in other ways. So let's see what it says, along with verse 20 which I quoted above. Nebuchadnezzar: > Jeremiah 27:6-7 states: > 2 Chron. 36:20 clearly describes the fulfillment of this passage, as verse 21 confirms: "to fulfill Jehovah’s word spoken by Jeremiah". Now, "Jehovah’s word spoken by Jeremiah" cannot refer to "sabbaths", since Jeremiah nowhere speaks of a sabbath rest of the land, but must refer to what Jeremiah said about the Jews becoming servants to Nebuchadnezzar's dynasty until the 70 years of Babylonian supremacy were over, which is unambiguously stated in verse 20 and which occurred in 539 BCE. The author inserted the phrase "until the land had paid off its sabbaths" as a reference to Leviticus 25 and 26, where Jehovah describes the punishments he would bring if the Jews failed to obey him. They were to keep the law of the sabbatical years described in Lev. 25, and if not, Lev. 26:34-35 says what would happen: > Note that neither Leviticus nor Jeremiah predicted a sabbath rest of 70 years, and 2 Chron. 36 does not say that the sabbath rest lasted 70 years, but only that "all the days it lay desolate it kept sabbath". In other words, the phrase "to fulfill 70 years" does not refer to the sabbath rest, but "to fulfill Jehovah’s word spoken by Jeremiah". To put it another way, first the 70 years spoken of by Jeremiah would end, and then the land could become non-desolate and quit its sabbath rest. And yet another way: while the land was desolate, it kept sabbath, which occurred during the 70 years of Babylonian supremacy. With this understanding, and noting that Hebrew was written without punctuation, the passage might be written more clearly: > The God's Word Translation renders the passage along these lines: > Neo-Babylonian chronology has been fairly well established in the main for at least 400 years. It became better established in the late 1800s with the discovery of tens of thousands of cuneiform tablets from Babylonia and Assyria. It became solidly established in historical literature in the 1940s when Parker & Dubberstein published "Babylonian Chronology", which compiled thousands of those tablets into tables listing the reigns of Babylonian kings from Nabopolassar through Nabonidus. Since then, various scholars have largely confirmed and refined their work. For example, based on ambiguity in the Bible (was Jerusalem destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar in his 18th or 19th year?) scholars had long debated whether Jerusalem was destroyed in 587 or 586 BCE. That question was resolved by Bible scholar Rodger Young in favor of 587 in 2004 (see www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0ahUKEwitmt7qxOrYAhVO1mMKHZ4RAe4QFggpMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rcyoung.org%2Farticles%2Fjerusalem.pdf&usg=AOvVaw04If9xNNWAyGO0tlNGmHv9 ). It was established hundreds of years ago that Babylonian kings ruled from the 620s BCE down through the 530s. Today the dates are 626 BCE for Nabopolassar's accession year through 539 BCE for the last year of Nabonidus (and his vice-regent Belshazzar). These dates are established by using astronomical information recorded on cuneiform tablets, such as lunar eclipses. The key dates are 621 BCE for Nabopolassar's 5th year (lunar eclipse), 605 BCE for Nebuchadnezzar's accession year (tablets), 597 BCE for the main capture of Jerusalem and deportation of the most important exiles such as king Jehoiachin and Ezekiel (tablets), 568 for Nebuchadnezzar's 37th year (lunar eclipse and lots of other astronomical data), and 523/2 for Cambyses' 7th year (two lunar eclipses). With the overall timeframe established (626 through 539), all that remained was to use biblical information to fix Jerusalem's destruction within it. That is now fixed at 587 BCE. Within that timeframe, "the 70 years" fits perfectly. Since the Bible nowhere defines where "the 70 years" of Babylonian supremacy begins, but only where it ends, pegging the beginning is speculative, but there are good candidates. Since Babylon defeated the last of the Assyrian Empire in 609, 609 to 539 gives exactly 70 years. Since Nebuchadnezzar acceded the throne of Babylon in 605, that gives 66 years -- reasonably close. Obviously there are many loose ends that I have not covered, but I'll touch on some in the next comment. If you really want to educate yourself on all this, get hold of the following books: Handbook of Biblical Chronology, Jack Finegan The Mysterious Numbers of the Hebrew Kings, Edwin Thiele The Gentile Times Reconsidered, Carl Olof Jonsson There are various websites that I can suggest. PROPHECIES THAT POINT TO CHRIST'S RETURN IN 1992-1993 Jehovah's Witnesses use an interpretation of the "7 times" prophecy to point to 1914 as the year of the second coming. The 7 times are 2520 years from the removal of the last king of Judah as God's earthly kingdom representative until the time of Christ's return when Christ becomes God's returned earthly kingdom representative again. The last king, Zedekiah, was removed at the time Jerusalem fell in year 19 of Nebuchadnezzar II. But lots of people have problems with the JW interpretation of this prophecy. Fortunately, there are two other prophecies that also point to the year of Christ's return. The "1335 days" prophecy and the "70 weeks" prophecy. 1. The "70 weeks" prophecy basically has Christ arriving during the 70th week of the THIRD day, and the 70th week of the SEVENTH day of a covenant week of 7 days (each 490 years long = 3430 years) from 1435 BCE to 1996 A.D. The 70th week of the third day is from 29-36 CE; the 70th week of the 7th day is from 1989-1996 A.D. Christ arrives to fulfill the first half of the 70th week the first time, and the second half the 70th week the second time. Thus Christ arrives first from 29 to 33 CE, dying in the middle of the week during Passover at the first coming. Christ returns at the second coming in the middle of the 70th week, thus by Passover of 1993, fulfllling the second half of the 70th week from 1993-1996. So essentially, Christ would return sometime after Passover of 1992 but prior to Passover (April 6) of 1993. The THIRD day (490 years) of the covenant week was from 455 BCE to 36 CE; thus the SEVENTH day of the covenant week would be from 1506 to 1996 A.D. (4 x 490 = 1960 + 36 CE = 1996 A.D.; 1996 - 490 = 1506 A.D.) 2. The "1335 days" prophecy adds 45 years to the end of 1290 days. The 1290 days ends the "dashing of the holy ones to pieces," (Daniel 12:7) an event during the end-times that "never happened before, nor would happen again," a "great tribulation" against Daniel's people. That event was the HOLOCAUST. This tribulation was to be a 7-year period following 62 weeks, that is, 434 years from 1506 A.D. The 7th day begins in 1506 A.D. Sixty-two weeks is 434 years; 1506 + 434 = 1940. Thus the 7-year tribulation would occur between 1940-1947. Of course, this is when the Holocaust occurred, the prophesied "great tribulation." (Matthew 24:21-22, 29) The 1290 days would thus end in 1947. So we simply add 45 years to 1947 and we get 1992. Others have assigned the 1260 days to the Balfour Declaration that occurred in 1917, providing for the Jews to begin to return to their homeland. That would also point to 1947 ending the 1290 days, and 1992 ending the 1335 days. 1260 + 30 = 1290; 1917 + 30 = 1947. 1290 + 45 = 1335; 1947 + 45 = 1992. So we have harmony between two prophecies pointing to 1992-1993 as the year of the second coming. Christ did return on December 25, 1992, so those prophecies were interpreted correctly. But what about the "7 times" prophecy? Based on Christ's return in 1992, the fall of Jerusalem should have taken place 2520 years earlier in 529 BCE. 2520 - 1992 = 528 + 1 = 529 BCE Popular official secular history claims Jerusalem fell in 586 BCE, year 19 of Nebuchadnezzar II. But as Jehovah's Witnesses clearly point out from the Bible, there needs to be a 70-year period for the land to pay back its sabbahs following the fall of Jerusalem and ending in the 1st of Cyrus (2 Chronicles 36:21). The 586 BCE timeline reduces this period by 26 years, contradicting the Bible! In addition, the Jewish historian Josephus claims there were 70 years of desolation/servitude following the last deportation in year 23 of Nebuchadnezzar II. (Antiquities 10.9.7 and 11.1.1) The Bible contradicts the WTS' claim that the 70 years began in year 18 of Nebuchadnezzar II, but confirms and agrees with Josephus beginning the 70 years at the time of the last deportation in year 23. (2 Chronicles 36:20) At this point we observe something quite interesting. If we date the fall of Jerusalem to 529 BCE (year 19) and begin the 70 years 4 years later (year 23) in 525 BCE, the return in the 1st of Cyrus falls in 455 BCE!! (525 - 70 = 455 BCE) That becomes an interesting observation because the prophecy of the "70 weeks" begins in 455 BCE and it begins with the "word going forth to rebuild Jerusalem," which clearly is a reference to when the work first began in the 1st of Cyrus! (Daniel 9:25) So are we looking at historical revisionism? Is the Neo-Babylonian and Persian timelines some 82 years askew? (537 BCE vs 455 BCE = 82 years) If we can effectively date the fall of Jerusalem to 529 BCE, then we will have THREE prophecies all pointing to the same year of the second coming in 1992-1993. Well, it turns out, it is quite easy to remove 82 fake years from the Persian Period, which has been accomplished. Critical dates recovered are the Peloponnesian War beginning in 403 BCE (vs. 431 BCE). Year 10 of the war in 394 BCE ends a 30-year peace agreement, dating Xerxes' invasion and the Battle of Salamis in 424 BCE. The Battle of Marathon 10 years earlier falls in 434 BCE, which dates the death of Darius I and the year the temple at Jerusalem was completed after 21 years of building starting in the 1st of Cyrus. (Ezra 6:14,15) Add 21 to 434 BCE and we get the 1st of Cyrus occurring in 455 BCE! (434 + 21 = 455 BCE) Voila! The Persians revised their timeline to add enough extra years so that it would cover their claim that Xerxes was the father of Artaxerxes, even though they were actually the same king (now confirmed by Persian archaeology!). This likewise involved revising the Babylonian records which they also controlled. Centuries later when it came time to recover the original timeline, apparently it was decided to leave well enough alone, too much of a scandal, so it was never officially corrected. But as they say, "if you tell a lie enough times it becomes the truth," so the current revised timeline has become like "truth," and now has been used to potentially contradict and question the Bible. But that has now been corrected, obviously. So the Bible prophesied that Christ would return in 1992-1993 via THREE different prophecies, including the corrected dating of the "7 times" prophecy based on Jerusalem's fall in 529 BCE (vs. 607 BCE or 586 BCE). Christ, indeed, fulfilled this prophecy by returning on December 25, 1992 in the middle of a lot of intrigue with the death of the "two witnesses" occurring 3.5 days prior to the second coming (Revelation 11:7-11) on the 25th, and the execution of Fred Franz by Jehovah on the 22nd of December for his participation and complicity in killing the "two witnesses." Now it is time to deal with Christ directly. Some 26 years later, it is time for the "revelation" of Christ to occur. (1 Corinthians 1:7; 1 Peter 4:13; 2 Thessalonians 1:7; 1 Peter 1:7,13; 1 John 2:28 -- Be sure to look up ALL of these scriptures if you're even remotely expecting to survive Armageddon! This is your wake-up call. Recall what happened to Lot's wife.) Are you ready?

Hi Jamie, Having viewed your video and read through some of the comments and your replies, I'd like to add a few varied thoughts of my own. I think a good place to start is by highlighting that this whole 607 thing does not originate with Jehovah's Witnesses or even with the Bible Students. It came from a former Adventist, Nathan H Barbour. Why does that matter? Because there's absolutely no evidence that his personal interpretation of the Bible was anything more than just that. A personal interpretation. It did however grab the interest of one CT Russell. If you want to read more, you don't need to read any apostate literature, the Watchtower’s own history book covers this in detail in 'Jehovah's Witnesses: Proclaimers of God's Kingdom’ 1993. You talk about the 70 years, and as some have pointed out the 70 years refers to the subjugation of Israel plus the surrounding nations/lands: Jeremiah 25:11-12 "And all this land must become a devastated place, an object of astonishment, and *these nations* will have to serve the king of Babylon seventy years.'And it must occur that when seventy years have been fulfilled I shall call to account against the king of Babylon and against that nation,' is the utterance of Jehovah, 'their error, even against the land of the Chaldeans, and I will make it desolate wastes to time indefinite.’ (emphasis mine) The Bible helpfully lists one of the other lands under subjugation - 'the land of the Chaldeans', showing this didn't just apply to Israel. The other point to flag comes from the scripture. It clearly states that "when seventy years have been fulfilled I shall call to account against the king of Babylon". When did Cyrus remove the King of Babylon? In the year 539. So what does all that mean? The 70 years was the length of rulership by Neo-Babylonian empire. It was a time of subjugation over Israel and the surrounding nations/lands from 609 - 539. But it HAS to finish in 539 to collaborate the Biblical account. Another interesting point to note is that the Watchtower can be pretty flexible in how they view a 70 year period. In Isaiah 23:15 it talks about a 70 year period. But that’s not backed up by the archaeological evidence. So is the Bible right, and it's 70 years, or is the secular view right? Let's see what the Watchtower says: "Isaiah goes on to prophesy: "It must occur in that day that Tyre must be forgotten seventy years, the same as the days of one king." (Isaiah 23:15a) He says: "These nations will have to serve the king of Babylon seventy years." (Jeremiah 25:8-17, 22, 27) True, the island-city of Tyre is not subject to Babylon for a full 70 years, since the Babylonian Empire falls in 539 B.C.E. Evidently, the 70 years represents the period of Babylonia's greatest domination-when the Babylonian royal dynasty boasts of having lifted its throne even above "the stars of God." Isaiah's Prophecy - Light For All Mankind 1 (p. 253) Here we see that a 70 year period doesn't have to be a literal 70 year period, according to the Watchtower. Finally, you did say in one post that you'd read ‘The Gentile Times Reconsidered’. Good news! The author has made the book available for free. You can read it here: goo.gl/TBRcuW It's a tough book to read. It's now over 40 years since Jonsson originally wrote to the Society, and once you wrap your head around the sheer scale of the archaeological finds that back up the secular view of Neo-Babylonian period (interestingly evidence that was dug up *after* Barbours’ interpretation) and the logical conclusions that Jonsson presents across 17 lines of evidence, you may start to find yourself getting quite angry at the scale of the Watchtower’s deception. Many people have been disfellowshipped, and therefore cut off from their families and friends, simply for talking about this deception openly. That's the Watchtowers way of handling dissent. Does God agree? I hope the above is useful to you.

It must be remembered that Jonsson and others were disfellowshipped for apostasy, as they are ex-JWs. Scholars generally agree that, that Israel went into exile for 70 years and that the Jews were released to go back home on the decree of Cyrus, they started their departure in 537 bce, the maths is simple - 537 + 70 = 70 years. It would seem that scholars are trying to fit the bible into their theories, rather than fit their theories into the bible!

539 Cyrus conquers Babylon. Within his first year he tells the Jews they can go back to Jerusalem. They packed up and had to walk on foot back to Jerusalem so it took a year. 539-2=537. The Jews set foot in Jerusalem in 537 and it's no longer desolate. Take 537+70 years desolation and it comes out to 607BC.

Everyone agrees with the destruction of 539BCE and i was using that date and counting backwards. Im using that date you keep mentioning! If you say it was 609 then you think they were instantly back in Jerusalem immediately when babylon was destroyed in 539. Therefore YOU did not account for Cyrus setting the decree to return to Jerusalem in his FIRST YEAR and also the time it takes to walk back carrying their belongings with them. Then you will realistically get to the date of 607BCE. I cant even comprehend what we are debating about. When people get a different date they are saying it was not a 70 year desolation but a much lesser time of desolation and thats not scriptual.

It's a 70 years of desolation not a 70 years of punishment. And the word desolation means empty so it does take the return of just one nation to set foot in Jerusalem again for it to no longer be empty. Who ever conquers Babylon becomes the King of Babylon and Cyrus was that man so he made a DECREE with authority as the king for the Jews to go back to Jerusalem. So the Jews listened to Cyrus as the new king of Babylon thus serving him as the scriptures say "the Jews will serve the king of Babylon for 70 years."

Jamie, a year in bible times was based on a Lunar calendar with less days than the 365 we have now ? And these days its a different calendar of 365 days. So the calculation that the jws work out for 1914 is wrong, even if 607 was correct as the fall of jerusalem, its wrong because they are calling one year 365 days and the Lunar calendar of the bible was not 365 days. Anyway, no historian accepts 607 as the fall of jerusalem, and they didnt before 1878 when the jws started. So its not some great conspiracy to mislead people. As for the jehovahs witness religion, they are run as a charity so pay no taxes, get free labour on new buildings off their members, have made many false predictions, 1914 would be the end, then 1925, then 1975, then the 1914 generation would be the last, now its an overlapping generation !! Vacinnes werent allowed at one stage, they have brought out yet another version of their bible in 2013, inserting words to match their beliefs, words that werent there in the king james version. They built a building called beth sarim in the 1920s in san diego in preperation of the return of the prophets from the bible !!! There is all i have mentioned above and so much more that is kept from its members, oh and shunning people who leave etc, and the australian royal commision in to child abuse within their religion and how its not reported to the police because of the 2 witness rule. If out of all the religions on earth would god allow them to get so much wrong if they were gods channel ?? , ie : preciting the end, covering things up, the new light every few years or so etc. They are just like all the rest, there are a few at the top of their organisation who are getting extremely rich, dont believe me ? Do the research. Good people within their relgion are being mislead.

70 years of exile is completely wrong. It is a wrong interpretation of Jeremiah 29:10. The original Jeremiah prophecy was not about the 70 years of exile, but the time Jehovah imposed on Babylon. After 70 years, Babylon would be reckoned in 539 BC. That's it.

You need to read your Bible bro. Take a look at second Chronicles 36, verses 19 to 21.

@@JamieBigham I have read yes. Ezra wrote the Chronicles more than 100 years after Jeremiah. Daniel wrote his prophecies more than 40 years after Jeremiah. Ezra and Daniel were both referring to that original prophecy of Jeremiah, spoken by Jehovah to the Babylonian world empire. Therefore, we need to go back to the sources and see what Jeremiah was actually prophesying about. Did he mean 70 years for the Jews in exile, or did he mean 70 years for the Babylonian world empire? Jeremiah was talking about the 70 years that Jehovah decreed for the Babylonian world empire. After that, Jehovah would call Babylon to account according to prophecy. This happened in 539 BC. The year 539 BC is an important anchor point for determining events in the Bible. Another such date is 29 AD (see Insight on the Scriptures, Volume 1 p. 458) This anchor point (539 BC) can also be used to calculate the year of Jerusalem's destruction using the Watchtower Society's own literature. Watch the video where I explain this (unfortunately in finnish, but you get the point): kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZ2aaIhmnLJ3ebc

@@EXJW-ACTIVIST second Chronicles said that the land of Israel had to be at Sabbath for 70 years. Stop twisting everything.

@@JamieBigham That's not what it means. In this verse, Ezra combines two things: the curse in the Law of Moses about keeping the Sabbaths for disobedience, and Jeremiah's prophecy about the 70 years prescribed for Babylon. It does not refer to 70 sabbatical years. In practice, the Jews were in exile for much less than 70 years. Try to see this whole thing objectively. And don't stubbornly hold on to the year 607 BC invented by the Society, by which they merely artificially empowered the governing body through the 1914 doctrine. Read chapters 25 and 29 of Jeremiah carefully in context and notice that the original prophecy said nothing about the exile of the Jews.The 70-year prophecy was only and exclusively about Babylon's world domination.

live let liv I mean that the convoluted way he arrives at 607 could be adopted as new light. It was a tongue-in-cheek attempt at humor. Some folks got it. The JW’s only use 607 to support 1914, and well, that ship has sailed.

Henry Santiago I take nothing from the Catholics. There is no support for 607. Makes no difference to me anyway, because I’m not trying to predict anything.
