If Holy Spirit wasn't a person blasphemy against him as unforgivable sin wouldn't make sense
@changstein27 күн бұрын
Here's what "blasphemy against the holy spirit" means, and why it won't be forgiven "for the eon" - Israel rejected their Messiah. Christ forgave them on the cross, knowing they they would get a second chance to usher in the Kingdom through the apostles. The apostles, at pentecost, were given divine power from God (also known as the holy spirit), to do miraculous healings and works. Israel and the pharisees rejected the apostles as well. They rejected the power of God (or holy spirit) as it acted through the apostles. Now Israel is set aside for eon, until "the fullness of the nations" comes to Christ. Israel still has promises that need to be fulfilled; but this comes in the next eon, because they are "not forgiven" until then. (Romans 11 details this)

BITE is short for Behavior, Information, Thoughts and Emotions and those are things they're controlling What's more, isn't the practice of shunning and Anty-Blood transfusion policy pretty cultist? In my opinion, God being three persons and one being makes Christianity more believable. Most people say that if God is greater than us then He should be beyond personality. Jehovah's Witnesses often respond to claims about the Trinity by asking, "Where is the Father and Son mentioned together with the Holy Spirit in this verse?" Or when the Father and Son are mentioned in other verses, they question, "Where is your Holy Spirit here?" They seem unable to grasp how Christians understand the concept of the Trinity. They expect every verse to explicitly mention the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit together; otherwise, they argue that the Trinity must be false. When we speak about the Spirit, they interpret it as referring to Jehovah alone. If we point to verses showing the unity of Jesus and Jehovah, they counter by citing Jesus' statement that "the Father is greater than him." Even more troubling is when they claim that the early Church corrupted the Bible, altering verses to support the "false doctrine of the Trinity." It’s so sad to hear such claims. I feel so sorry for them.

@timothytakang5407 What's your argument really? Are you saying 1John 5:7 in the King James: "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one," is not a spurious insertion? Also, the Bible never said: " God the father, God the son and God the holy spirit." The idea of creating a triune God didn't come about until hundreds of years after the death of the apostles. If it was so important and we should believe it then why wasn't it explained by Jesus and his apostles? Why centuries later by the creeds and councils of men?

So would it not be analogous to say that claiming to get a message from God and claiming to get a message from the Holy Spirit as literally meaning the same thing, even if the words are different? 2. So this Video points to the Holy Spirit as having personified traits, but couldn't the Holy Spirit just be God's messenger? Or in other words, just a servant of God?

If you deny the Holy Spirit until your death, that's blasphemy as you are denying the spirit of truth. 3, If you come to the full knowledge of the truth of God, similar to how the pharisees knew of Jesus from Scripture before his coming, yet say that the Holy Spirit was not the one that filled Jesus, in fact, it was the devil. I personally believe its both 2 and 3.

@@tjpg25yeah thats likely the case imo. Many Muslims genuinely don't fully understand Christianity and get a lot of the theology wrong as their own religion teaches a faulty interpretation of what Christians believe. So if they convert they should be fine.

It's crazy how people believe paranormal activity by demons without question but when it's from God they fire up their skepticism to the max. If a witch says she got teleported somewhere nobody thinks she's lying, if a CHRISTIAN says he was being attacked or something and God teleported him somewhere IMMEDIATELY people find it hard to believe. @TestifyApologetics I recently discovered this while reading Hebrews 3:7-11. The only reference that I've found that identifies the Holy Spirit as Jehovah. I'm sure you know the many OT verses that are used about Jesus and when you look them up, they're referring to Jehovah/YHVH, but this was the first one I have discovered that says the Holy Spirit says something that is an OT reference and the reference is referring to Jehovah. Anyway I was super excited and had no one to tell except the JW's who were visiting, but they dismissed it just like the OT quotes about Jesus identifying Jesus as Jehovah as well.

@Daniel_Godismyjudge--Isah33.22 You know... I think I had my chapter incorrect. The one you mentioned is the one I incorrectly stated. I have been searching for the clearest Bible verses about the Holy Spirit being God. I had the one from Acts 5, where Peter uses the Holy Spirit and God interchangeable and then I recently found the one you correctly stated in Hebrews 10, showing the Jehovah is the name of the Triune God and not just God the Father... and I also believe the reference in Isaiah doubly called the Holy Spirit Jehovah and God during the passage. That's so exciting!! Do you know of any other passages where it clearly shows the Holy Spirit being referenced to as God or Jehovah (YHWH)?
@@Daniel_Godismyjudge--Isah33.22 You've made my Thanksgiving! That's so amazing! AND the reference you shared with me from Acts 28 that clearly shows that Holy Spirit is Jehovah! WOW! How precious and delightful is God's Word! Thank you for commenting and sharing what you've learned with me. I wasn't excited to study about other worldviews. I began to do it because I'm working on a book I've been writing for 10 years on the topic of indoctrination... because the word gets thrown around so much and I had noticed the subtle and not subtle changes in culture during my lifetime. It took years before the Lord helped me to flesh out the topic and really be able to understand it and then another few years before I was able to articulate what I had learned. Anyway, eventually I began to hope to plumb the depths of various indoctrinations from different sources so I can present a well rounded and hopefully interesting plethora of examples for each of the various indoctrinations. Eventually I began reading about various worldviews and when I began getting to the cults of Christianity, it was honestly intimidating. However, I never dreamed it would lead me into such a rich and deep dive into so many scriptures, since the JW's, Mormons, Islam really twist the Bible. It's just brought God's Word to life for me, in a new and deeper way than it has before. It's made me actually think and research the doctrines that I had taken for granted. God's Word is so inexhaustible! And Mesmerizing! I am just in awe of Him. Thank you for sharing some more of the deep treasures of His Word with me. I very much appreciate it.

If there is a third divine person - the Holy Spirit - then he would have to be created as the second Son of God after the Logos, because the Logos was created first. But nowhere in Scripture is there any such evidence that such a being was created, called the holy spirit. He pours out his spirit, anoints with the Holy Spirit, etc. (Acts 2:17,33; 10:45; 10:38). Thus, this is the activity of God Himself, not a third divine person, and not *electricity*. It is impossible to achieve salvation without the work of the Holy Spirit. If this activity is performed by the third person of the Trinity, then there is a second intermediary needed for salvation, and this does not agree with the infallible teaching of the apostles and our Lord about the only name of Jesus, through whom salvation is possible. Jesus said to the disciples: “He who sees me sees Father” (John 14:9). The apostle teaches that Jesus is “For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in the Son” (Col. 1:19, 2:9). It seems that for theologians however, this simple teaching was not enough, and this teaching of Holy Spirit being a person was introduced in 3rd century - and from these three persons they formed the concept of one God.

@@uli6996 Great, I'm glad you asked for one. Let me show you why the Holy Spirit is NOT a Person and why Jehovah's Witnesses are correct: Both the Hebrew and Greek words for “spirit” are the same words that are translated “WIND.” Like wind, holy spirit cannot be seen; but still it is a force that can produce effects. Its referred to as the “Spirit of God” or the “Spirit of the LORD” which is evidence that it is an instrument of God.-Gen. 1:2; Judg. 15:14 At Matthew 11:19 Jesus personified “WISDOM” and depicted it as having “works” or “children.” Yet “wisdom” is not a person with an individual existence. Also, Romans 5:14, 21 personalizes “death” and “sin” as reigning kings. But we know for a fact they are not living persons. Jesus did the same in regard to the spirit; he personalized something that was actually not a person, just like he did with Wisdom. Another example we can use is the sun. The sun might be personified as a “helper,” just as the holy spirit was personified as being, since the SUN itself helps and is responsible for giving us light and brings warmth and flourishes life on Earth. Also (in case you throw this argument), what is recorded in John chapters 14 through 16 about the pa·raʹkle·tos (Paraclete, Comforter or helper) harmonizes with what the rest of the Bible says about the holy spirit. The LORD (Jehovah) through Jesus Christ USED the holy spirit to help Christians in the first century C.E. By means of it as a “helper” they gained INCREASED UNDERSTANDING of God’s purposes and prophetic Word. (Acts 2:33; 1 Cor. 2:10-16; Heb. 9:8-10) Men miraculously AIDED by the spirit spoke in foreign languages, explained God’s will and prophesied.

To add on, we the believers are likened unto empty vessels (I believe this assertion is made in Galatians, but I don't remember if I'm right), which alludes to the fact that we ourselves are temples unto the living God. As God the Father is up in Heaven doing his thing, and Jesus the Son is at his right hand constantly interceding for us, the Holy Spirit dwells on this earth. More specifically, this is the part of God that dwells within us. There's a lot more I could potentially go on about, but I am not particularly well-versed and am at fault for getting something wrong. I'd rather tie the whole temple comment at the end to this little tidbit.

@@trentitybrehm5105 excellent!💯 Thank you so much for sharing! I think I'd like to record all the passages in separate lists for easy reference. I'm sure such a list exists but I don't have it yet. I'll have to recheck my book from Ron Rhodes. It'd be great to have one list of the clearest passages that identify the Holy Spirit as God (like the very you sent from Acts) Another regarding the Holy Spirit or Jesus represented most clearly in the OT, and the one you sent from Samuel may be the best I've ever heard regarding Holy Spirit! Thank you! And I have 3 or 4 now from the NT talking about the Holy Spirit that reference the OT talking about Jehovah/Yahweh! I'm finishing up a book about the divinity of Jesus, because I took it for granted for so many years, until confronted with the lies and twisting the scriptures of the Jehovah's Witnesses and Islam. I've just got to write those passages down in various lists (Jesus being directly called God, Jesus being worshipped, OT passages referenced in the NT that show Jesus is Jehovah/Yahweh as well, etc.) The only list I have compiled right now is one showing the Holy Spirit is a Person and not just the force of God, as the JW's choose to believe. So I have about 5 pages of verses so far (still adding!) with the Holy Spirit referenced with personal pronouns, speaking directly to people several times, having a mind, will and emotions and even preferences, and many other kinds of things like that. I'm falling in love with God's Word all over again and so excited. Thank you so much for the passages you've sent! I'll add them to the one list that I do have and sit down and create the other lists, and use the other verses you sent. Create... one for the Holy Spirit being God and another one for the Holy Spirit being Jehovah... which will show quite clearly that Jehovah or Yahweh is the name of the Triune God and not the personal name just for the Father. The Jehovah's Witnesses made a big deal about knowing the personal name of God, which they meant the Father... and part of their denial that the Holy Spirit is even a Person. I tried to gently show the 5 pages worth of the Holy Spirit being a person. They had one canned response. "Oh that's just personification, like wisdom in the book of Proverbs".... It's really sad how much satan can blind us, even when they claim to get their beliefs from the Bible, but shown overwhelming evidence from the Bible itself, they disregard... If you don't mind would you say a prayer for Jonathan, Mr. Brewster, Mr. Louis, and a Mr. Spurgeon. Anyway thank you very much for the additional supporting Scriptures. God's Word is so amazing!

Some of these are weak in spite of the fact I agree. The spirit distributes spiritual gifts as He wills. "He" in this context could be the father. I'm not letting a trinitarian get away with saying the bible never uses "He" to say the father. A sign is a non living object that tells you where to go. So is a telephone if someone is speaking from the other side. Electricity searches for the lowest resistance path, also knowing could be in reference to the spirit being the only one doing the will of god. "my calendar testifies that I was not there on that date". People lie to objects all the time like mirrors for example.

Due to the Greek, the referrent to "He" can only be the Spirit. The verse does not contain a separate word for "he" there, and the immediate antecedent is the spirit, which forces us to conclude that it is the Spirit that does these things. In Greeks verbs are conjugated and do not need a separate pronoun to indicate the actor, rather the action of the verb is implied to be the one of whom the passage discusses, that being the Spirit.

I think portraying the spirit as a sort of "messenger," "arbiter," or "personal essence" of God seems to be most accurate. It's not as though the Spirit behaves independantly from God, but rather seems to be the literal "Spirit" of Christ / The Father. The Living Will as it were.
@patrick95326 күн бұрын
The spirit has a mind and intercedes with the father, hence it is it's own person.
@mateofamate138726 күн бұрын
@@patrick953 Yes, I suppose in the same sense as Christ being His own person from The Father, but in a much more abstract or spiritual sense. Romans 8:9 is partly what I mean by this: "You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ." and Galatians 4:6 "Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, ‘Abba, Father.’" Both passages refer to The Holy Spirit as "The Spirt of God", "The Spirit of Christ" or "The Spirit of His Son." So it's not as though Christ's spiritual form is a different thing from The Holy Spirit, but rather, spiritualism itself is a little unconventional, so Christ can be separate from His own Spirit as though they are two persons, because they are. In a similar sense, people often refer to their own Spirit as being separate from their Ego(self), so I believe this is the same as that.

There are many scriptures where the Holy Spirit is made out to be a thing. Such as when Holy Spirit is “poured out” , being given as a gift, and using it to baptise people. John the Baptist says he will baptise with water but Jesus will baptise with Holy Spirit and fire. John 4:24 says God is a spirit. So there are many scriptures when talking about the spirit where it is referring to the God as a person, there is a clear distinction within that scripture between the spirit god, and the spirit as a concept/force. Also, the scriptures personify lots of things that clearly aren’t persons. Such as discernment, sin, death, and undeserved kindness. Are these all part of a holy group as well? Are these people? And finally God demands exclusive devotion. Just rest the Hebrew Scriptures to see how he feels about polytheism. It clearly states Jesus is not God in John 17:3. So where does that leave the Holy Spirit as a member of the trinity?

Peace be with you Friend ❤️ Personification is used when a Passage abcribes a Personal Characteristics or Action to a thing that cannot be interpreted literally. For Example: Rivers cannot clap their hands(Psalm 98:8). So it is using Personification. However, for the Holy Spirit, there is Nothing in His Descriptions that cannot be True of an Actual Spiritual being.

There's another passage which proves the Holy Spirit is Divine and nobody thinks about it. It's Hebrews 10: 15-16 : "The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says: “This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts" The Holy Spirit *testifies* and *says* then follows a verse from Jeremiah 31 and it's written *says* *the* *Lord* ! So WHO says this verse ? The Holy Spirit who is God. In the passage of Jeremiah it's the tetragrammaton.

@2:53 So doesn't your assertion here actually contradict the Trinity? If Jesus and the Holy Spirit are both God, why can one speak against Jesus and be forgiven but not the Holy Spirit? How do you reconcile that using arguments derived from Scripture that are also consistent with every other verse? Speaking against Jesus should be the same as speaking against God or the Holy Spirit, no? Further, it is suspect that the author doesn't mention "speaking against" God himself. If one were to start from your belief in the same Trinity that the writer of this Scripture also allegedly believed in, it seems logical that they would mention the status of "forigivability" when speaking against God, if only because they also mentioned the other two parts of the Trinity and the difference in "forgivability" for speaking against either. The fact that they did NOT suggests that there is a relationship between the two (God and the Holy Spirit) such that mentioning both is unnecessary but it DOES require a distinction from the Son.

Peace be with you Friend ❤️ The Holy Spirit comes from the Father through the Son.

Yes. As to the Sacred Scripture, the inspired writers call the Holy Ghost the Spirit of the Son(Galatians 4:6), the Spirit of Christ (Romans 8:9), the Spirit of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:19), just as they call Him the Spirit of the Father (Matthew 10:20) and the Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 2:11). Hence they attribute to the Holy Ghost the same relation to the Son as to the Father. Again, according to Sacred Scripture, the Son sends the Holy Ghost (Luke 24:49; John 15:26; 16:7; 20:22; Acts 2:33; Titus 3:6), just as the Father sends the Son (Romans 3:3; etc.), and as the Father sends the Holy Ghost (John 14:26). Now the "mission" or "sending" of one Divine Person by another does not mean merely that the Person said to be sent assumes a particular character, at the suggestion of Himself in the character of Sender, as the Sabellians maintained; nor does it imply any inferiority in the Person sent, as the Arians taught; but it denotes, according to the teaching of the weightier theologians and Fathers, the Procession of the Person sent from the Person Who sends. Sacred Scripture never presents the Father as being sent by the Son, nor the Son as being sent by the Holy Ghost. The very idea of the term "mission" implies that the person sent goes forth for a certain purpose by the power of the sender, a power exerted on the person sent by way of a physical impulse, or of a command, or of prayer, or finally of production; now, Procession, the analogy of production, is the only manner admissible in God. It follows that the inspired writers present the Holy Ghost as proceeding from the Son, since they present Him as sent by the Son. Finally, St. John (16:13-15) gives the words of Christ: "What things soever he [the Spirit] shall hear, he shall speak; ...he shall receive of mine, and shew it to you. All things whatsoever the Father hath, are mine." Here a double consideration is in place. First, the Son has all things that the Father hath, so that He must resemble the Father in being the Principle from which the Holy Ghost proceeds. Secondly, the Holy Ghost shall receive "of mine" according to the words of the Son; but Procession is the only conceivable way of receiving which does not imply dependence or inferiority. In other words, the Holy Ghost proceeds from the Son.
