Second how can I have true free will when the all knowing all powerful being KNEW before creation everything that would happen to me in my life including all my decisions AND has the power to have changed it before during or after creation to have things turn out otherwise? Everything will happen as he PREDETERMINED it would, I have only the illusion of choice if I can't change what he saw before it all began.

@Wolf-dog Cat-dog 2.0 _"Especially since God created the serpent and taught it to lie..."_ Now, hold on a second there! I don't necessarily disagree with it, but here are a couple of points: - God taught everyone to lie by setting it as an example. - The snake didn't lie. - The snake encouraged Eve to think critically. - Before meeting the snake Eve had never had a critical thought. - God discouraged critical thinking and expected everyone to take his word for everything, like all narcissists do. - Adam is an idiot. - Based on all the stories in the bible, all of the characteristics that god has are narcissistic and he has no individuality, only symptoms. Given all of these verifiable facts we can conclude that god probably lied about creating and being able to do things, abducted Adam and Eve instead of creating them (which would explain why despite Eve supposedly being a clone, she is a million times smarter than Adam and she isn't male), the snake is the best character and the first one in the bible to risk something real (the wrath of the narcissist and its own life in the process) to help two brainwashed characters, Eve learned to think critically and used it to do an act of kindness for her stupid friend, Adam. Pretending it's all according to plan is just another symptom of god's narcissism. You see it in all narcissists and narcissistic systems around the world, throughout time. You can just look at current world leaders and regimes and political parties for evidence of that. I would love to go along with the fanfic scenario where it _was_ actually all planned, but nothing in the bible supports that. Just look at the gospels for instance. They don't agree with each other that Jesus' death was planned, or if Jesus knew about it or was okay with it. He was born in different times and killed on different days to pretend it was to fulfill different prophecies that weren't about him. In some stories Jesus made all kinds of promises, none of which turned out to be true, and the list goes on and on. The whole bible shows an extremely abusive narcissistic "god" who says he can do a lot and hasn't been shown to actually do those things. Everything he supposedly did was only for his own gratification and for no one's benefit. Every writer did their best to ad hoc make things seem like they had meaning or that they worked out well and none of it did. God is as good of a planner as Trump is - both require gullible idiots who make claims about plans. They never succeeded at anything beneficial on purpose and they both require gullible idiots to pretend that the claims the narcissists make are true without verifying it. Especially if you take the bible's word for things, you can't pretend that god planned anything; that inevitably leads to contradictions, like lying snakes that tell the truth and a lying god that can't lie. All those contradictory claims come from narcissism enablers or from god himself who evidently is a narcissist because all he is can be summed up with narcissism.

My aunt & uncle rented an apartment building in the 1980's to trans men, and they were some of the funniest & most respectful people I ever met. They were bankers and engineers during the day, but happy and fun people at night. Not one of them ever forced their issue on anyone else. They had their little community there and were happy. They would welcome you into their homes and treat you with respect. If people got to see that side, like I did, they might respect their views. My eyes and mind and heart were open to a lifestyle I was told was wrong and terrible, but they showed more Christian traits than most JW's I knew at the time.

After being a JW for 36 years I was disfellowshiped for calling out the elders in my congregation for their inaction when it comes to child abuse. My mom and I had told them about my stepfather abusing me and my sister. They said they would report him (we are in California which makes them mandated reporters) they did nothing. So I asked them why. Their response was. "We spoke to Bethel's lawyers and they said we shouldn't do anything because it would tarnish the image of the organization." They waited for my reaction, they got none so they continued. "You wouldn't want to make God look bad for something that happened a long time ago would you?" I told them. "So, the shepherds won't save the sheep from the wolves because they might get dirty? You are supposed to be here to protect God's heard but instead you allow wolves to prey on the most vulnerable sheep, THE CHILDREN! and why? Because the shepherds might get dirty so much for gifts in men." They didn't like that very much. They went from kind and understanding to nasty. They, out of nowhere said "How many men have you been sleeping with?" What positions have you done it in? Have you...with your mouth? You know that is also sex right?" I denied the accusations. They said "We know what's going on here, these questions must be answered" I continued to deny everything they said. They continued. "We have to talk to Bethel about this we will get back to you about their decision" well their decision was that i should be disfellowshiped for some fabricated Sin to shut me up. My step father is still a Jehovah's witness. He didn't get any punishment not even a talking. No "come with us to the back room" talk. Nothing. What annoys me the most about this whole thing is that they used sexual immorality as the reason to disfellowship me when that was the sin that was committed against me. Yet the real perpetrator got nothing. What a corrupt organization.

My mum went round to talk to this woman but she came back really mad and frustrated and said I don't like her much and told me to now stay away from that girl in the future. . Once a person "learns" to hate a sexual minority, the chance to ever unlearn that hate is kinda 0. Thus, sexual minorities are the best target a cunning leader can present. I'm not gay, but I do know that if you are gay, then you are. You can't wish it away, pray it away, deny it away or frick it away. About all religion says you can do is pretend you're not or never have sex. But you're still gay and nothing is going to change that. So I think it's better, if you have the strength, to be gay and happy rather than miserable and religious. But I know that may call for a strength of characther some people simply don't have. And i feel great sorrow for them.

Children trying to convert other children is true, in third grade I had a classmate that was a jw and she would take her book to school and ask the teacher if she could read it to the class 💀 (the teacher was lazy and was always looking for an excuse to don't give us class, there was a point where she was "predicating" to us three times a week 💀💀) I remember this one time she was reading about how Jesus died for us or w/e and the bunch of us were from Catholic families so many children questioned her about the cross and she went on a rant about how worshipping the cross was actually a sin, and that Jesus didn't die on the cross and that even if he had died we shouldn't pay respect to it and I quote "if your uncle died on a car accident you dont held a funeral for the car! You held a funeral for you uncle!" 💀💀 It was very weird, in the end I think she stopped because some parents complained to the principal and since my country has a policy that public schools are laic... Anyways the teacher was lucky he kept his job lol and the girl kept reading her book to some children during recess tho

Is this in the Philippines? I remember even in Private School, these missionaries would talk in class during homeroom period; and this teacher who happened to also be a jw member, out of nowhere, spouted about her religious views about hell and eternity and that there is no middle place. Now looking back, I now think this is really inappropriate. The audacity of her to insert her beliefs when she should focus on teaching her own subject.

The Greek word "Arsenokoitai," which is often translated to "homosexual," could also be translated to refer to men that engaged in sexual relations with boys. That was a common practice in Greece when the New Testament was written, and this translation is more consistent with the command to "love thy neighbor."

I was raised JW. God, it was a miserable life, every time there was a thunderstorm I thought it was Armageddon. You live your life in survival mode, with really high levels of anxiety. Oh, and yes, I couldn't wear pants to Kingdom Hall, I had to wear skirts. I got out by reading a set of books called Kingdom Rising by H M Sealey - in that there's this cult "The called and chosen" and its exactly the JWs 100% they're sort of Christian, but they kind of stripped all the religion away and made me realise the crap I'd been learning. I'd have been disfellowshipped for reading them if my parents had known what they were. I'm still Christian now I read theology and philosophy at Oxford university and so much makes sense when you don't think through the JW lens. It was an amazing sense of relief not to be trapped in this narrow little box. It's what people who don't understand any theological opinions at all make of a belief system they don't understand but want to. The Trinity? Damn, no, far too complex, let's simplify that a bit. Everything's made ugly and simple.

Right now, they're trying a balancing game between the older hardline members and the younger generations who all have one foot out the door already.
