Good explanation. It is good to get the word out that RV adapters will not work for EV charging. The problem with these EV adapters is that when you plug into a 14-50 outlet your car might draw up to 40 Amps. The TT-30 outlets have 30 Amp breakers and can only support up to 24 Amp EV charging. Instead of using one of these adapters, I made a TT-30 to 14-30 adapter. The 14-30 plug automatically limits my car to 24 Amps max.

So end of the day, will this adaptor basically make it work, but you end up charging at the same speed as plugging into a 110? If so, not worth it. Might as well just use the 110 that most campgrounds have in the same outlet as this. I’ve always just paid extra to rent a 50A RV spot for car camping when I do mountain bike races and those spots work just fine with the 240 plug my car came with.

While you will still be charging at 120v, you should be able to charge at 24 amps, which is about twice as fast as a standard 110 receptacle.

I have a 30 amp on my house that was installed to run a RV. Id like to install a level 2 EV charger and use the parkworld adapter. Would it be ok to leave the charger and adapter always plugged in?

If the TT-30P socket has L1 and L2 120VAC you can get the 240VAC between L1 - L2, BUT if both the 120V connections are from the same phase then there will be NO 240VAC.

New project idea 💡 Hybrid electric generator system where an RV owner could pair a battery bank with gasoline generator and charge a recharge a battery bank + inverter. Examples for use: - A small 800W generator (1000W Peak) has enough power to run a refrigerator but doesn’t have enough power to start a refrigerator motor. Connecting the generator to a power bank with a 2000W pure sine inverter would allow an undersized generator to start the refrigerator. - A larger generator with electric start could be modified to run intermittently like the Start/Stop in hybrid car to maintain the battery charge between 20% and 80% this would save fuel and allow for silent operation when electricity draw is low.

Because it expects 220V, so it only uses the pins that are normally the 2 hots in a 220V plug. At the same time, it's auto ranging, so it will take 120V across those same 2 pins. Just like an auto ranging computer power supply or power brick - it uses the same plug on the device, and you can either feed it 120V or 220V and it works with either. You just use whatever cable you need that plugs into the outlets you have, and the power supply figures out the rest.

Pretty rare to have 30amp 120v residential. More common to have 30amp 240

THE SMALLER PIN IS ALWAYS THE HOT. STOP TELLING PEOPLE WRONG. WHAT WE REALLY NEED IS A J1772 TO A 110V AND OR 220V CONNECTOR.
