For personal home use the pre built rack mounts cost about the same these days as the self build ones and comes with a 10 year warranty because of economies of scale. Unless you get these cells at a huge discounted price, else get a prebuilt, saves time as well. I have 30kwh system at my place for off grid solar power.

I think only reason to go with this is diy enjoyment and easier to support. Imagine you had to replace a cell in a prebuilt battery sealed plastic case. Would be pain to cut open and messy. I am like you though I think cost of DIY vs new prices on complete stuff. New stuff for me at a lower cost and done built for quick setup is way to go for me now. If I had play money and time I would mess with DIY stuff. I really his approach he works so hard to make DIY easy and to get supply to the people.
