Funny fact: In the book, Hyde and Jekyll are not different personalities, Hyde is basically the form that Jekyll takes to be able to release his unclean and insane desires (no idea what they were) while his normal side, Dr. Jekyll, conceals to Hyde. The problem comes when little by little it becomes Hyde meaningless, sleeps like Jekyll and dawns like Hyde, the potion he used ran out and the last time he used Hyde was not controlled and killed someone. In the end he knew that the next transformation would be the last and it was not decided whether to be the kind but imprisoned Jekyll or the informal but dangerous Mr. Hyde, because little by little they are distinguished as two different people. Why I put this? Because this song it's the perfect example of that.

Yes, I do like this version of Hyde. He does start out seemingly normal, but feels more free and alive. But since Hyde is pure, concentrated evil, there are no morals that stop his evil from going to insanity. It just goes to show that anyone can end up like Hyde if they feel that they don’t have to follow or listen to that moral compass.

Well, he is outright evil. I think you're thinking along the lines of the book, where Hyde is described as seeming to have some disformity that instantly makes you hate him, but you can't figure out what it is. Personally, I think that's a reference to how evil is undefined beyond being bad, and that's why no one can agree on what Hyde looks like: evil is constantly changing

Very nice animation! For a couple days now, I have been absolutely obsessed with this song, and its all thanks to your wonderful animation! I love how it captures Hyde's emotions perfectly! I also love how he looks like a wolf; his hair, to me, makes him look like one. Also, I have a question. In the beginning, there is a portrait that we see a glimpse of that shows a short haired, dignified looking man. Is that your interpretation of Jekyll, while the long haired one is Hyde? We also see that same short haired person in the credits, looking up at Hyde as he is hanging down. So is the short haired one what Jekyll is supposed to look like?

Truth be told...In the book Hyde was not an alternate personality embodying Jekyll's evils but an alter ego Jekyll used to hide his evils. Jekyll was in full control of his actions and the potion was a transformation one and would change him back to Hyde when he did evil deeds. If the Musical really wanted to go full book accurate we could have Jekyll simply wanting to have a night of fun which slowly turns him more and more evil as time moves on eventually he realizes just how monstrous he becomes and he could either turn himself in...or just accept his dark nature but I'm just a weirdo. I love your animatic.

Yess I love seeing comments like this because I also think deeply about the relationship between jekyll and hyde and how its much more different in modern adaptations. They are much less intertwined and can even interact as if they were simply two seperate people in one body, whereas in the book it is much more complicated

To be honest I think it is the former because despite whatever image he made for himself to be a good guy was gone when he became Hyde. Like I imagine real people going on an adventure and meeting Dr. Jekyll thinking Hyde is a split personality but the reality is not as black and white and such.

It does paint him in a more negative light when you think about the fact that he only really starts to want to seperate from hyde once he loses control or goes too far, and even then he wishes there was a way he could keep hyde around.
