@@rando_girl_2430 okay, the original myth is that Eurydice dies on the day they get married, Orpheus goes to the underworld to find her, so Hades gives him a chance to have her back. In one condition, as Orpheus climbs up the underworld back to the mortal world, he is not allowed to look back for Eurydice, and trust that she followed. But because he loved Eurydice more than anything, he looked back. Eurydice was gone forever, and all Orpheus had to do now was wait until he entered the underworld too.

I think if Hadestown should be a movie musical, it should be made into a 2D animation, like one of the classic disney movies.
@megareavermickeybot79852 жыл бұрын
I totally Agree! This is the kind of stuff that would be Iconic in a classic Hand drawn film. Something like what we see with this animatic. It's 2 much of a master piece to need cgi or live action. This would truly fit best with that Hand Drawn organic feel. This musical already feels nostalgic with it's music and story telling style. So Hand drawn to look like it feels like it could be long to the Golden age would hit home. I don't want Disney involved though. I think Disney back then could do better than to say but I feel this needs a non Disney asthetic. Like it looking as good as if it was Disney but by some one else instead. Besides Disney might try to insert another Hades into this and I feel those 2 Should remain separate. They are both really good interation of Hades in general but we don't need two inerationa of Disney Hades. Descendants already did that. Disney gave us 3 different Mallefecents by now too. Time for Someone else to shine.

I legitimately think you are a big reason why a lot of people found this show before the Broadway release… I remember telling all my friends about this little Indie show called Hadestown after I learned about it from this video, and watching the show explode in popularity was amazing. I was finally able to see it in person with the touring company last week - and hearing Wait For Me live brought me back to this video… the one that brought this incredible show to my ears those few years ago. Thank you so much for this!

I have never listened to this musical and haven't even heard of it (I figured from the description that it's something about Orpheus and Eurydice?) but freaking hell, the facial expressions and the voice of Orpheus are literally breaking my heart and he is so well drawn (like EVERYTHING in this) and the man with hat (Hermes? From what I figured from the comments) is just SO AWESOME with his all-raspy voice and accent and this laid-backness, I don't know the character but judging from the voice I think you captured all his traits perfectly. He reminds me of Sans from game Undertale. And that expression of him when he says "but I guess you weren't listenin'", like some kind of a ironic but somewhat sad and symphatizing smile and how HEARTBROKEN and weak Orpheus sounds when he says "with all my heart" and how desperate he looks and how everything is dark and eerie when he sneaks into the Hadestown, it's such a scary and haunting mood in that scene and how beautiful Orpheus sing this "waaaait for me", I just can't put this into words, it's perfect and his voice is so mesmerizing and everything!! And I LOVE how the man with hat later appears in front of Orpheus, warning him with that stern and ominous look on his face and the scenes with Orpheus' memories with him and Eurydice and how he's losing his mind are plainly heartbreaking, thank you so much for sharing this, you're awesome and I'll go listen to the rest of soundtrack now.

I love the portray of Hermes in this. He's got this old school con-artist vibe to him. He comes off like he's working some kind of an angle, and yet the whole way he's helping Orpheus along, keeping the kid on his toes. Also, the portrayal of Asphodel as this endless field of souls wandering to and from the mines of Hades is just...absolutely horrifying. Bravo.

@peridotchild4576 жыл бұрын
Rockinashy It is!😄 I was introduced to the musical by this animation and loved the song so much that I looked up the plot and everything so I could know what was going on. Apparently it’s a Depression Era version of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, and Hades is the owner of a huge underground mine+factory+city, also known as Hadestown (I’m not quite sure about the factory part but they was what I gathered based off the lyrics in other songs).

This is the video that got me in to Hadestown. A year and a half later and I can't believe how much the show has grown. I remember searching high and low for any footage of the show, then I got to see it in London at Christmas, now it's just swept at the Tony's. I'm so proud ❤

This is wonderful! Your Hermes and your Orpheus are perfect and the way you illustrate the journey with a mix of the modern and the mythical - the cameras, the coin! And the fact that Orpheus was bringing Eurydice flowers -- that's lovely and so appropriate considering her later song.

This is so phenomenally beautiful. The visuals are absolutely stunning, and the detail knocked the breath right out of my lungs. I adore your art style and how you visualized each scene; the entire animatic is rich with life and effort, and there's not a second where I felt disinterested or had to wait for the visuals to grab my attention. This is so well-done and I really hope you're proud of it, because it's made my day and, as it seems, a lot of other people's too. The work you put into this is outstanding!

oh BOY this is good. i love hadestown and you really went above and beyond with this song. i love all the little details too-- like the added blinks during the scenes with orpheus and hermes. it really gives that lifelike-animated touch! and the scene with orpheus walking down the train tracks with nothing but a bucket of paint, a coin, and his guitar getting ready to tear down the boards of the blocked entrance was really something. please keep up the storyboarding!!
@fiteclub19996 жыл бұрын
This was one if my favorite myths. Eurydice died in her sleep while Orpheus was out.and when Orpheus came back her body was gone so he went to tell the townspeople what happended,and since he was famous for his amazing fiddle play in skills,an old lady told him that the only way to see his dear eurydice was to go down into the golden gates.so the old lady led him to the grave yard.he listened to her and eventually he was brought down to the gates.once he was there an angel asked him his purpose and he told her about his dear love.when she refused he bribed her with his fiddle skills.when he played it she cried so she let him see his beautiful eurydice. But the only rule was that he couldn't look at her on his way back or eurydice couldn't go back to the surface with him.he did as he was told,until they were at the entrance.eight before they could exit Orpheus couldn't take it anymore and he turned around and looked at her.she wasn't behind him,because he didn't do as he was told.the entrance sealed and he was stuck,6 feet under.so,now Orpheus walked along the tunnel for the rest of his life until he was a ghost and played his sorrow fiddle.on some nights,on eurydice death day,you can hear his soft fiddle.
