Lucy was ALWAYS done dirty in this series.Whether it was getting knocked out by bullshit, getting just beat the hell up, or getting kidnapped and being a damsel in distress, or just existing only for fan service and comedy scenes it always felt like any strong scene they gave her they had to immediately undermine it, she would constantly get sidelined and treated as weak when she is quite strong. She was so head strong and had a heart of gold, the guild owes so much to her efforts including it's reforming after being disbanded in the first place. She put so much effort into the things she does and it really felt like she constantly got robbed of the payoff of her efforts because "someone always had to come save her or protect her."

Magic Games is arguably the most infamous for how badly Lucy's character was handled. Even the Lucy Stands can agree this Arc wasn't really her best bc of how poorly she was handled especially during the fight with Flare and they REALLY did Jellel so dirty in this arc which is why he's one of the most wasted characters ever.

The point of the first half of the tournament was to show FT losing. To show them getting humiliated. That's why in the later half of the tournament, the FT team popped off.

This whole arc is one big farce. It's not even funny to look at how badly the author failed to cope with his own characters. Fairy Tail was my first anime that I followed for ten years and what a garbage it is. Even if the author gives the characters interesting powers or arranges a fight between characters with interesting powers, it is always the same. He can't handle it and either shoves Natsu or Erza in there, or turns the fight into a complete farce. And the anime adaptation is just a shame, even worse than the original. One of the most disappointing is Jellal, who should have been the coolest, but how bad he is always with his powers. Disgusting inability to write battles, a terrible production that can only boast of fanservice and sickening treatment of its own characters. Very bad. What’s even worse is that I still can’t wrap my head around how this arc exists and why FT allowed two groups at the same time, all of this is already becoming a farce from now on
