When my daughter was 10 years old her fiddle group from Canada went on “tour” to Scotland. They were so very warmly and when they had played everything in their set they stood there not quite knowing what to do next. So they played Scotland the Brave. The audience went wild, their teacher cried and my daughter said “Mum, I have never heard such loud clapping.” Every kid on that stage could have sprouted wings to soar at that very moment. None of them (or their parents) will ever forget that moment. The Scottish people were so generous and welcoming and happy to share a wee bit of their culture with a group of elementary school kids. It was awesome!

@Roy Dunn You can watch my KZbin channel. Scots play the Great Highland Pipes. The player of the bagpipes plays the pipes in a standing position by blowing into the mouthpiece. This type of bagpipe is generally played in Scotland. This type of bagpipe is usually played outdoors due to their loud, somewhat high-pitched sound. Uilleann (Irish) pipes are made up of a bag, bellows, chanter, three drones, and three regulators. The player of these pipes is seated when playing. The elbow is used to pump air into the billows. These pipes are usually played indoors. They have a quieter, softer sound than other bagpipes.

I lived in Alabama for a little while on top of a mountain with a community of maybe 20-30 people spread Wayfarer I hooked up every speaker I could find in my house which is about 20 of them and on Sundays I would play Scottish bagpipe music and this was the first song in my set I had recorded the music from the old records that my parents had and I would turn these things up full blast the echoed all over the countryside I did it Sunday afternoons an out of everywhere trees down the road people would come and tell me how they could hear the bagpipes and it stirs their blood and I would get thank yous the bagpipes does something to our ancestors no matter how far we're spread the bagpipe calls all Kinfolk together whether it be a time of Peace and celebration or a call to Arms

As a Scot the Great Pipes give me goose bumps, sends shivers down my spine, bring tears to my eyes and make me proud. Scots went into battle to the pipes and the opposing side pee'd their drawers at the drone of the pipes and the sight of men wearing the great Highland kilt.

Remember when I was 17 (my first job) in Belgravia, London, and the Scottish pipers used to march to Buckingham Palace, no how much you tried, you could not help but walking in time with them. Have loved the pipes ever since. (65 now!)

@@stringer-ik1pc look what you said is absolute false. All Europeans like Scotland and British, but you got brexit now and this is not a good thing. If Scotland with the PM Surgeon can get the Independence than all Scottish can get a new chance to come back and I for me I cam say : WELCOME. The same for the others if they change idea they are welcome too. I really do not understand why brexit? Nobody thougt about the situation of thousand and thousand of the British that are living in Europe and the problems they got now. No one of your leader thougt about the conseguences oh this choice.

@@adrianobonaldo8941 sturgeon is not a primeminister, Boris Johnson is the prime minister of Scotland and the Queen is the Head of state Scotland doesn't even meet the constitutional requirements to even call itself a separate country. The English people fund the country and the biggest employer in Scotland is an English supermarket and then the British Ministry of defence I'm afraid what you think about Scotland is not true They are ruled by the English and have Bern for 300 years The English conquered them and bailed them out when they were bankrupt stupid.

When I was young, my father took me to anywhere anyone was playing the pipes. Now that I’m older it reminds me of times spent with my father now that he has been gone 40 years. When my son was in high school, he would drive into the school parking lot with the bagpipes blasting out of his car stereo.
