My addiction was the monster under my bed. My depression was my dragon. I was running so hard for so many years. Almost 16 years ago... I found my peace. I was able to put that monster to bed and I have been in recovery since 8/13/2008. I still struggle with my mental health every day but I work with my peers and help them get to a better place if they are willing and able. This song was my life before I finally got clean. I always ran to the bad and ran from the good. I lost numerous years of my life even in recovery because of childhood trauma and the pain I caused myself. I tried to kill the pain with anything that would stop it. You name it.
