I'm not ashamed to say that I watched Jem & The Holograms as a kid. I still love it to this day at almost 50. Like A Dream is still my Favorite song of the entire series. RIP, Vickie Sue Robinson.

Very interesting. I didn’t know alot of those things and I am a HUGE Jem fan. I definitely didn’t know Jetta was originally supposed to be black! They already had Shana though and she was a nice girl and a badass fashion designer. That’s what’s I love about Jem-every little girl had someone they could identify with and look up to. Jem is just a fantastic cartoon period. It’s my favorite cartoon of all-time bar none. It taught kids morals, the oh so 80’s fashions were a blast, the music was fun (“Like a Dream” is my favorite Jem and the Holograms song, “Jack, take a hike” my favorite Misfits song), the characters were all interesting, and it was always exciting and had you on the edge of your seat! Even at 40, I can sit and watch Jem for hours without getting bored! A truly great cartoon in every sense of the word.

There were two reasons for significant sales drops. First was that Hasbro didn't introduce many new characters to the line. Once you had Jem and all the Holograms, there were no new heroes to ask for the next Christmas. Secondly, Mattel created the knockoff Barbie and the Rockers dolls. And due to FCC laws, Hasbro couldn't advertise Jem toys during their show but Mattel could so if a kid watched Jem, the only singer dolls they saw on TV were Barbies. Jem didn't have a companion show to be bundled with (as GI Joe was with Transformers), and there was no show to counter sell on (as the did with GoBots) so there was a limited chance to sell toys. Hasbro was financing a show and selling their competitors' product.

It's always upsetting Jem didn't have the best doll sales. I've never been interested in dolls, but I love the Jem line and I now collect them. It also sucks when you see the 1988 prototype dolls, but at least they done well in the beginning.

How do you miss the doll size? They never would have made it, the dolls were way too large, the boxes were way too large and the clothing wasn’t interchangeable with Barbie. That’s the real reason.

You do know that there was a special JoeCon G.I.Joe cover featuring Jem and the Holograms and Cold Slither (G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #212)? Though nothing about it inside, just an ordinary G.I.Joe story. But in another comic #206 we see Cobra Commander playing a Jem video. But a real story with the characters interacting would be so great! The fact that they did make those small crossovers may bring some hope for the future. I hope. And I hope to see 3 3/4 Jem action figures or Cold Slither dolls (or action figures since the Dreadnoks have never been sold as such).

Jem song was "Everybody wears a mask" the episode "Mardi Gras" (New Orleans all the way heh? ;) lol you ever wonder if that tale/legend of Jean LeFe'te and LILLY la Rose was true or not? I sure did back then. Be Truly Outrageous and Cool if was. G.I. Joe episode episode yea don't remind me. think it was even called Cold Slither lol. Back then when the song got stuck in my head felt like I was being brainwashed. like the characters in the show. couldnt remember anything i studied for school. Which is funny cause I used Jem show related music to help concentrate while studying definitely would of been Crazy Awesome if crossovers between our beloved 80's toons on character physical level would of be just that and not hard to imagine. both shows had time travel episodes. J&TH performed for the President so why not the some Government G.I. Joe base. music group has crazy adventures anyways. why not get Cobra forces mixed in with attackes. Riot miltary skills surely can help save the day. Synergy been took once by the U.S. government. I realize the prevailing idea with KZbin nowadays is that short form content is what works and this isn't bad but there really is room for more long form analysis content. considering the talent of some comics alliance writers I think its a shame this channel only really has stuff like this right now.

the movie cast a much younger Jericha, and she didn't inherit a supercomputer or an Artificial Intelligence just a rolling robot much like BB-8 that looked like he was ejaculating when he spit out a projection of a photograph or prerecorded video of her father, an afront to the idea Synergy. who was supposed to be a strong female character in the show and movie

Incorrect. Jetta was never meant to be black. Hasbro invented Jetta the way she came out. Christy Marx, who worked on the cartoon (not the doll line), simply asked if they could make her black, buy Hasbro wouldn't. Probably because they didn't want to create a black character that was a badguy.

Maxie had nothing special since she was an ordinary student with her friends, not the glamourous singer and her group against their rival music group. There was no story, or it was a really ordinary one for Maxie, no special looks or characters, no rivals... so not many were interested in that line. It was too blank and boring.

Nothing new and you mispronounced Rapture, then as the why jem really feel was the barbie and the rockers doll. Hasbro at that time also acquired the doll Sindy the doll that would be sold as maxie in the US. This acquisition and lawsuits from Mattel forced hasbro to choose Sindy the top selling doll of the UK market or continue to push jem. Not if the transformers movie & gi Joe movie would have done better the jem movie slotted for the end of 1988 would have happened and jem would have gotten the last of the 100 episodes that were planned
