It amazes me that you made a rather simple boss theme but made a full fledged song out of it. This is the best remix of the final Robotnik battle in Sonic 1 I have ever heard and the use of the electronic instruments fit with the whole industrial factory setting the battle takes place in.

3 years late, but I might as well reply anyway for useless lore trivia. In the original Japanese manual it's more than strongly implied that Sonic & Eggman had fought prior to Sonic 1's events. However, it's likely the first time Eggman turned an entire island of Sonic's friends against him through Badniks. Part of my probably poor translation attempt (as in I used translation apps since I'm Japanese illiterate) below if anyone's interested [Note: Pretty much a slight variation of Windii's translation since I used it as a guideline for DeepL's translation suggestions]: "Dr. Eggman, the evil genius and scientist, has started to embark on another evil scheme. 「Sonic ......, that annoying, smart-willed hedgehog. He's the one who's always ruining my grand schemes and master plans. This time, I will crush him with the power of my science and technology! Hmmm... ......」 Here on South Island, there is a treasure trove of ancient ruins and relics scattered throughout the land. It is also said to be the island where the miraculous "Chaos Emeralds" lay dormant, hidden away in the depths of obscurity. The Chaos Emeralds are a super-elemental substance that gives energy to all living things. However, no one knows how to obtain them. Furthermore, it can be used to create nuclear weapons and laser weapons through the use of science and technology. This is because South Island is an island that moves around on its own, and the Chaos Emeralds exist in the distortions created by the island. One day, a crisis occurred at the island. Dr. Eggman and his army of eggheads had invaded the island. 「"Hmmph. . . Even if I have to dig up the entire island to do it, I'll make certain that I get my hands on the Chaos Emeralds!”」 Dr. Eggman built a massive fortress at the corner of the island and started his search for the Chaos Emeralds──. 「You' ve gone and done it now, Eggman. You still haven't had enough!?」 Sonic heard the rumors and came running. Dr. Eggman's antics were nothing new to Sonic. So far, Sonic had been able to successfully fend him off each and every time. Dr. Eggman seems to think of Sonic as something of an arch-enemy, but to Sonic he's never been a match for him at all. But this time, however, ...... there was something strange about his appearance. 「Sonic, did you happen to take notice!? This time around, things will be quite different. I've turned the animals of the island into robots!」 「Hey... you guys! 」 「All of them do exactly what I tell them to do. In other words, the whole island is your enemy. to be title specific 'Sonic the Hedgehog 2' the melody of influence comes from the boss music at the end of each zone. Sonic Generations contains three remixes from sonic 2. 2 for chemical plant acts 1 and 2 and 1 for the actual final boss.
