A trip around the northeast of England on a cold day in December. I encounter a few problems when tipping and experience the Humber bridge for the first time

I had just watched a vid and I spotted your vid in the feed after, the headline got me as I thought "what the hell has she bought him"? I drove artics for 30 years so do occasionally watch driver video's to see what they are doing and how things have changed, I'm retired now. I can remember pulling up at the services on the M40 (years ago) watching some guy pull his hair out and noticed his tipper was at an angle that said "yeah, that's buggered". I thought "no tipper work for me" though I did it for a year from an open cast coal mine and hated every minute of it. I have worked with women HGV drivers before, but, they were only doing box or curtain sider work, you remind me of that women (forgot her name, was it Lisa) from "ice truckers" who got out there and got stuck in. I no longer miss getting somewhere to load only to be told "come back in the morning", sitting at borders for 4 days ( before the Eastern EU countries joined the EU) or someone being in a mood. I do miss the European trips seeing new places and the warm weather, being ripped off, people trying to break into the trailer and the police fining you for the slightest little thing, that was before they joined the EU. I will subscribe and follow you even though you have upset me, I could only dream of a cab microwave I had to make do with the gas burner for everything, no quick teas for me.

Hi Jemz💎, thanks for starting my weekend with a smile and a vid. Coal YUK! so transporting the black stuff, does that make you a...... '🎹 Coal Porter 🎹' 😂. Sorry, I'll get my coat. Have a great weekend. Take care, stay safe and safe driving.

Thank you for sharing the “what ifs”! That’s exactly how it goes. Even minor delays often lead to hours of delay down the road. Once I’ve suffered an unexpected delay it often seems to snowball. Some days I just roll with it, other times it’s frustrating. It makes one appreciate those times when things run smoothly.

Excellent video Jemma, that coal is dirty work, bad form they wouldn't load you, really screws up your day.
@Jayswarno10 ай бұрын
Mate, I feel your pain. Unless someone is doing this job directly, they have no idea the effect that half hour here, half hour there delay can affect your day. You were really pissed off towards the end of the video, and rightly so too! Have a great Christmas x

Hi Jemma, nice to be back with you again. I enjoy watching your videos very much and you are certainly working just as hard as before. I love the west country accents it reminds me of my holidays in Devon and Cornwall. We left England some 50 years ago but always went down to the west country on our Uk holidays. We were always going to retire down there but somehow ended up in Western Australia. Anyhow it’s nice and warm here which helps when you are getting on in years. Just been watching a Aus road train 50 mts long going across Australia and through the outback to Queensland. Thanks for the video and the memories. Jon 🇦🇺

Hi Jemma, that was a bit of a bum trip for you! Interested in your trip to Ashington as I live quite near. I was puzzled as to what your boyfriend could possibly want with 44T of coal dust, it was nowt like the coal I used to know. You did the right thing keeping over Humber Bridge, folk just have their own reasons for tipping or not, you can't expect to understand always. Have a great Christmas and take care of yourself in 2024.

I am surprised you have not been over the Humber Bridge before, Immingham/Grimsby is my neck of the woods, so i was interested to see how your delivery went in ming ming, (Immingham). The Humber Bridge does give you some nice views, I would not recommend breaking down on it though like i did once, stuck there for 4 hours. ^^ My wife always has two cups of tea in the morning also, is this a religion lol.

Hi Jemma, it's ironic to see you were up here, I live very close to Ashington, and as a fellow HGV driver depending on the time of day I would risk the delays on the A19 rather than go A1 as the roadworks up past Angel Of The North can be gridlock quite often. As for delays etc I'm trunking crisps to RDCs at the moment and the delays the last few days are horrendous. What should have been a 45min tip yesterday was over 4 hours. The joys of trucking at Christmas ha ha ha ha. Keep smiling, turn the tunes up on the motorway, and if it ain't in your mirrors it's gone so let it go. Have a great Xmas.

Hi Gemma. I'm new to tipper driving and your vids have really helped. I thought it was just me whose trailer got stuff stuck to it. Also, rapidly learning that literally everyday there's some kind of delay and things never go down how I thought they would. Hope you have a restful Christmas.

The construction of the Severn suspension bridge pioneered how all suspension bridges were built after 1966. It is a magnificent leap in engineering technology.
