Corporations want to be called "Citizens" to allow them unlimited "donations" to their favorite politicians but then they do NOT want to be considered Citizens when it comes to taxes. They should NOT have it both ways!! In fact, "Citizens" also pay social security and medicare payments - why not have corporations pay that also? If they benefit from our society, the infrastructure, the laws and the freedoms, then they should pay for that like everyone else.
@InvestingForTomorrow243 жыл бұрын
It's tradition, Tom. Since Buckley v Valeo in '76, money is considered a form of speech. In 1978 Belotti v FNB Boston decreed that corporations are given this form of "speech". Both long before 'Citizens' v FEC gave birth to more human attributes for corporations. Consider it to be Nixon's curse, since Tricky appointed 4 of the SCOTUS judges on the bench at that time, especially former tobacco attorney Lewis Powell, author of the infamous Powell Memorandum calling on corporate America to rebel against such jaded idealism as seat belts in cars, a ban on DDT, the establishment of the EPA, and much else threatening shareholders values.

@@joseholguin3085 Actually that is just propaganda put out by the Republicans. Corporate taxes are the lowest now since WWII. Corporations had their greatest growth back when corporate taxes were much higher than now. Remember, 54 of the top 100 corporations paid NO TAXES for the past decade and most pay less than their employees pay. That whole idea of trickle-down economics has been shown to be just another scam. Rich people and tax-free corporations do NOT create more jobs but that IS why we have such a huge wealth gap in the US.
@meehd013 жыл бұрын
Fact: when taxes are the lowest companies don't spend on infrastructure or employees, they buy back stock and just make the stockholders richer. In turn the employees lose out big time. It may just be that she is thinking through her response, rather than having preplanned, prepared responses. There is no way, of course, for us to know for sure, but I can't knock someone for something I do myself. I also consider the fact that every single word she utters is scrutinized, (which it should be!) and therefore can be used either for or against her. Most companies pass tax burdens on to their shareholders. LLC corps pass all their taxes through to the shareholders and C corps are taxed both on their profit and their shareholders are taxed again on disbursements. @myguitardetective59613 жыл бұрын
@@michaelmegale1589 She did answer the question. Trump's claim that raising taxes will spur Corporate flight is a lot of Hooey. Trump's foolish Corporate Tax Cuts led to more outsourcing than we'd seen since the "W" Presidency. During Trump's term, Labor Department certified 1,996 petitions related to companies shifting work overseas. Those petitions covered 184,888 jobs in fields ranging from manufacturing to back-office functions for financial services companies. In other words, offshoring didn’t stop in the Trump administration. In fact, it accelerated. For the equivalent period of President Barack Obama’s second term, the Labor Department actually certified fewer petitions covering fewer jobs. (1,811 petitions affecting 172,336 jobs). That means 12,552 more jobs left the U.S. in the first three-and-a-half years of the Trump presidency than did in the equivalent period of the presidential term of Barack Obama. Trump was never an "America First" guy...that was a sales pitch designed to appeal to the rubes...He always had a "touching regard" for the uneducated. He still does....
