My local anaesthetic wears off super quickly and sometimes doesn't work. Last root canal, I cried. Getting sedated in a couple of weeks to finish treatment

i just did this and ITS FINE TRUST ME. The scariest part is the sedation part and a needle is 10x more intimidating then actually getting a small prick with it. After that its like the weirdest dream/sleep you've ever had

I’m glad their are dentist like you. I go to one who will put you to sleep too. It has made all the difference in the world for me.

What is your experience like?

I’m terrified of the sight and smell of the dentist office but nitrous oxide made not care about anything even though I didn’t like the smell and the side effect of dizziness, some vertigo, and feeling “out of it/weirdness.” I’m also terrified of being sedated especially with heavy sedatives (general anesthetics) so it’s a lose-lose situation for me. As a child, I didn’t have a choice but to be brave for the nitrous oxide but isn’t looking forward to having nitrous oxide again.

I have no fear at all of dentists, no fear at all of Novocaine either, but just mention IV sedation and I will have a panic attack. I have to have bone grafts before having a Zirconia arch implant and they want to do IV sedation, and frankly I rather be face to face with a Cobra or in a tank with a Great White shark. I can't stand to see a stranger get a needle in the arm. I have no idea how I'm going to handle this at all, period, short of just out and out cancelling the whole procedure. I've never taken any meds my entire life and my fear is that I'll have an allergic reaction and not be able to breathe. They give you a list of meds and ask you if you're allergic. How would I know, I've never had anything but a low dose aspirin my entire life on this earth.

If I was a patient at calcaterra family dental center I would recommend special needs care if they find a filling I would recommend IV sedation because I’m a. Special needs patient
