👋 Anyone reading the comments about to have their surgery … let me explain my experience. ( I got them out 5 hours ago ) I WAS A NERVOUS WRECK before hand watching every video possible reading all experiences on reddit and comments on these videos from the good ones to the bad ones. I’ve been nervous since they told me last year they were coming in. It was a peice of CAKE for the people like me who have severe anxiety about medical stuff you will be just fine! I wasn’t worried about the recovery more so the surgery itself, and a little stressed about the IV ( i was put to sleep with IV sedation ) the IV was NOTHING me and the assistant were giggling and I was asking if I should watch him put it in or look away and he promised me it was nothing and maybe id enjoy watching it go in.. I looked away 😭 but it barley felt like anything, like a poke a tiny little prick. they put the thing on to check my blood pressure every 5 minutes and the thing on ur thumb along with some like patches they put on my lower side and chest. Sat there for about 30 minutes with the IV in my arm until the doctor was ready. He came in asked how I was lowered the chair down and put this thing on my neck to monitor my breathing I think he said,, and then he released THE GOOD ( the fluids into the IV ) it was a crazy experience.. like i was out but wasn’t ? all i last remember is seeing is the light and then within seconds it was done. I was so stressed for NOTHING. so glad I went with IV sedation because I didn’t feel a darn thing! 😂 and the loopyness afterwards ain’t all that bad either. I would definitely do it over again and take away all the stress from before because it was nothing.

@@lovemeyouall hi! so with my iv sedation they numbed me up after I was “asleep” so I have no recollection of getting numbed. In most cases I’m sure they numb you after you’re “asleep”. I’ve had a tooth removed without sedation and just numbing and it was completely fine! you’re still able to breathe. just after the fact the side that you’re getting the tooth worked on will be numb so say you got your left bottom molar your left cheek and that half of your chin will be numb to the touch. that side of your tongue will most likely be as well, but it isn’t bad at all! it wears off and you’ll be fine :) your throat isn’t effected my the numbing at all so breathing will be completely normal.

I am had bad experience with dentist over 20 years ago, and I never went back again due to anxiety, till last month I cracked my tooth. I was so scared from the date I made the appt, research everything online. My dentist gave me a crushed pill, and within 20 mins I feel sleepy, and I saw she gave my 10 shots in my mouth, but by then, all I remember was like‘ whatever’. And three hours felt like 10 mins, and everything was like twilight.. now I’m not afraid of going back lol. If I can go through it, anyone could.

I’ve had two wisdom teeth removed last year . I was a wreck with anxiety, I cried through everything , so the surgeon recommended IV sedation. I freaked out more because I’m not good with needles , nor am I fond of being in a twilight zone . But it was a little pinch on the back of my hand , and seriously I was out not even a min later . I don’t remember a thing . Now I have to remove 01 and 32 and I’m getting afraid again . This video calms me a bit but I know I’ll be a wreck once more . Oh and when I work up I wasn’t disoriented like I see some ppl on here . I was just very somber and hungry . Lol

I need my upper wisdom teeth extracted but have agonizing dental anxiety and you have helped me make clear in my mind the best option for me. I have not been sedated before and I do not intend to find out if I have a high tolerance to oral sedation as I'm going in for my wisdom tooth extraction. I will definitely make sure my regular dentist refers me to a clinic that can provide me with IV sedation. Thank you again Dr. Choi :)

Had my impacted wisdom teeth removed very recently. I'm not sure without all being explained, but they had to repair something in the tissue along with the extraction. They gave me general anesthesia. My doctor gave something before that made me very comfortable through an IV, and when gave me the final dose I remember waking up after it was done. I'm 24 years old, and much too late on getting them removed. As a result of them not being removed sooner, I've created a lot of issues in my mouth I still need to get fixed. A lot of oral surgeon's are specialized in sedation. The worst of the pain came after the medicine wore off about 5 hours later. The procedure itself isn't bad. Take care of yourselves, and be healthy! Get those impacted wisdoms out!

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed when I was younger. I was IV sedated, but was able to subconsciously answer to commands. I wasn't fully under, but don't remember much. I'm terrified of needles in my arm, and started hyperventilating at first. Someone rushed in with an oxygen mask, then a few minutes later I was out. I think it's called twilight sedation. Last week, I got my second molar extracted. They just numbed my mouth with two shots. I didn't feel any pain afterwards, but it was an uncomfortable experience. I could hear my tooth cracking and being pulled out. I just kind of zoned out during the procedure because the sounds and pressure made me very uncomfortable. I know everyones experience is different, though. Mine was a molar, which has 3 roots. Not to mention, the tooth was severely infected and had a huge cavity, all the way below the gum line.

Sorry this is long but I haven't been to the dentist in a few years because once I became an adult do to my terminal illness my health has really started going down the drain. I am going to be scheduling an appointment once this craziness from this virus is over. We finally got my health stable but not going back up. Now I do require a 24/7 nurse to be with me at all time because my health problems can flare up at any given time. And it's especially best that she's with me when I am receiving IV therapy I get IV therapy every day. I'm on a 24/7 feeding pump so she manages that along with my IV machine by making the feeding go in faster and slower as needed I'm on a continuous oxygen monitor so that way if my oxygen does drop she can help Me by getting my oxygen concentrator on me and going . and I am a fall risk so when I walk she is my support. But anyways this probably depends on the particular dental office and the provider but will the hygienist and the dentist allow my nurse to be right by me the entire time during my dental appointment and if I do have to have a procedure done that requires some form of sedation? Because if I need some help she has to be there to help me out. She even needs to help me get up and lay down on the chair because I lost a lot of strength. And if the oxygen monitor slows down on the beeping she has to be able to be right by me to get my oxygen concentrator on me and started. I'm a bit nervous to go because one haven't been in a couple years two it's the first time that I will be going with all these changes such as all the equipment and me needing my nurse / caregiver by me at all times I know that whenever I do have to go under sedation I wouldn't be on my feeding but when it comes to just regular exams and cleanings I would be on my continuous feeding. And another thing since my nurse has to stick me with an IV every time she gives some of my Iv treatments she knows how my veins work the best and the best ways to start one on me. I also have what's called a mediport and that always has an IV in it to give me continuous IV medications the peripheral IV is just for medications given certain times throughout the day. Due to the surgeries that I had where I required a ventilator and due to the liquid iron I was taking at the time I do know that when I do go I'm going to need a little bit of dental work done.

I’m having a semi impacted wisdom tooth removed next week. My current dentist refuses to sedate me even though I’ve had a medical emergency there before due to the adrenaline in the local anesthetic (I have high blood pressure). Last time I had impacted wisdom teeth removed I was fully IV sedated with Ketamine and the procedure was a breeze and I came out of the clinic very happy. So, this time I’ve taken things into my own hands as I need this wisdom tooth out urgently. I’ll be taking Xanax before the procedure to maintain my sanity and keep my blood pressure down. I rarely take it, so I’m used to the effects of a lower dose. I’m just going to double my dose on the day. I feel that impacted wisdom tooth removal on a patient without sedation that previously had to have an ambulance called due to a huge adrenaline spike (felt like a heart attack) from the numbing injections is absolutely barbaric.

I'm going in for my third consultation on a full upper zirconia implant. I have no fear of dentists whatsoever, I have no fear of Novocaine or Lidocaine, although Lidocaine did make me dizzy. That being said, a needle in my arm is a deal breaker. I rather go through the rest of my life with no teeth then take a needle in my arm. I understand it's safe and the preferred method of sedation for longer surgery, but I would only consider it if they knocked me out first with pills. I have an uncanny fear of needles outside my mouth for whatever reason. Why Novocaine never bothered me, I don't know, but it simply doesn't, but stretch out my arm and start looking for that vein and I would simply pass out cold. I did that during a blood test, I simply fell out. I had a panic attack before the needle even went into my arm! I've gone through braces as a kid, then veneers, then crowns, root canals, and I don't bat an eyelash, no fear at all, and now I need a full upper implant and really, I don't know how to handle this fear other then simply not having it done, period. My third consultation is the end of March and that's when they'll explain the sedation. Hopefully there are other options, if not, I'm out that door.

It's kinda crazy you have seen that many specialist & ALL of em are giving different feedbacks & treatment options. Would drive me absolutely BONKRS! Did you want removable over dentures? Have you looked @ 3 on 6 (instead of being a whole unit denture(upper or lower) and covering alot of your pallet still. The 3 on 6 is essentially (3) bridges, each bridge is connected by two implants. It's much more natural than implants with regards to how you actually can floss/bruss in between teeth and gums clean, doesn't interrupt pallet & taste, also does have the calling between your OG guns & the artificial dentures via implants. I had my upper wisdom teeth removed with zero sedation or nitrous oxide. They just numbed me and jerked them out. That was not a fun experience and I was hurting pretty bad right after. Then I had a root canal on an abscessed tooth under nitrous and it was a WORLD of difference. When the nitrous kicks in you literally will not have a care in the world while they work on you. You are aware of what is going on, but you are numb and you just won't give one single crap about anything (but in a good way). Seriously, don't even worry about it. I was terrified because I had heard horror stories about root canals all my life and it was NOTHING. I can tell you that an abscessed tooth is 1000x worse than a root canal, so if you need one, get one. Next week I am having an impacted wisdom tooth removed while under IV sedation, so that will be a new experience.

I do have some degree of anxiety when it comes to the dentist. For the most part, going to the dentist is fine. Yes, every now and then something will happen. However when it comes to extractions, I had nothing but bad experiences. I have two upcoming extractions and I asked a new dentist about oral sedation. It all seems fine on paper, but I do have one concern. I take a very low dose of alprazolam for general anxiety. I have been taking this drug for about 10 years and it usually takes about 2 hours to kick in. I saw the other oral drug available but they all seem to part of the benzo family. My worry is that my tolerance to alprazolam will hinder the sedative of the other benzos? I will consult with my dentist and voice my concerns. I don’t mind root canals, dental fillings, etc. Only extractions I have a big fear of.

I’m getting two wisdom teeth extracted tomorrow, one broke during summer and the patch recently failed, the other apparently looks like it’s gonna break soon, the specialist told me it would be IV sedation and I freaked out and froze, sent an email after explaining what happened and how I don’t want IV sedation so they said not a problem we can do it with just local freezing so that’s what I’m gonna do, I might in the future need my other two out too they said but I wasn’t ready to do all four right now cause it’s only the one that’s caused me problems and I like having them but maybe in the future I’ll consider accepting the sedation, the thought of sedation terrifies me but at the same time after they changed it for me I started wondering why they didn’t offer just local in the first place if it’s possible to do it that way, is IV sedation really the best for extracting wisdom teeth, should I have just sucked it up and went along with it, and that’s how I’ve now landed on a video about sedation, thank you Edit to add, my fear of the sedation isn’t because of needles but rather because I experience psychosis and currently not in an episode so I’m scared of loosing reality with sedation (as I’ve heard that’s what happens, like when you wake up you’re awake but out of it still for a while) and it triggering an episode when it wears off, and although I’ve asked other with psychosis and they said my fears make sense but it it’s not what happened for them/it actually felt nice for them to be out for a while and whatnot I still can’t help but worry it would trigger an episode and I’m quite happy not being in psychosis right now and for the last year, lol

Removing a bad wisdom tooth this weekend and my surgeon quoted me $575 for the removal and $600 for 4 units of deep IV sedation. The tooth is fully erupted and not impacted. I was told the procedure will take around 15 minutes. I feel like $600 for sedation is ridiculous given the fact that the procedure will only take 15 minutes. Not sure what to do :/

IV sedation aggravated my arrhythmia. I was awakened/reversed and after about 30 minutes they performed the extraction with novocaine only, for safety's sake. Except for a couple of needle pricks for the novocaine it was painless. IV sedation is not for everyone.

SMOKERS AND VAPERS!: Ive smoked my entire adult life. Do NOT do it for the first 2-3 days. Its VERY difficult, yes. There are many videos showing the "ways to smoke after extraction" - those folks are playing with fire. Nicotine isnt ideal for healing, but the smoking part is what will rip your clots out. Use a tiny nicotine pouch- i use ONN brand i think its called. Any gas station sells them cheap. No, its not the same but its far better than trying cold turkey through this recovery, which is already a shtty situation at times. Vapes are worse with the suction required. Joints/blunts are no better. Just hang on. It SUCKS but if you roll the dice you may wish you had not.
