Saw her on Adult Swim, she's very talented. I love how she uses dark comedy in a smart way by not being too edgy or redundant with the jokes. This helps her out with her political comedy in a bright method.

I remember my mother in her later years reading about a woman with both arms full of groceries trying to step up into a New York City bus. She fell backwards and dropped her bags of groceries then picked them up and bagged them three times. Anywhere else, the bus driver would have helped the woman, but the New York busdriver said, "Lady you don't need a bus, you need an ambulance." My mother, who had experienced some rude responses on visits to New York, laughed harder than than I ever saw her laugh at anything. She laughed till she cried.

God damn I don't know this show, this is the SECOND video i'm seeing of this lady (i liked a short i saw of her standup) but this content is brilliant and stood the test of time, this is very rational approach to free-comedy, let us all unite, we need more of this

I'm enjoying her newly released book, Not Funny. She does a great job explaining in this interview clip with another minority comic how the very people one might expect to be offended by a particular line most often laugh the hardest. It inspires any humane, honest, and smart person to actually study some cultural anthropology - what she has a degree in - within our increasingly culturally segregated society to de facto improve their funny. 🙂

Quick note. Women aren't a minority group. In fact, in America, they're the majority.

I’ve just discovered you as an entertainer, comedienne. I enjoy your particularly unique delivery of the topic you address in your stand up. You may be white female of privileged, but are a very socially conscious thought provoking humorist. If what ever you say is construed as racist. I’m trying to see where what you’re discussing point if origin. We all have our biases, and prejudices, but I want to understand why an individual thinks the way they do, because we all have our own filter on how we see the world. I didn’t not want to locked into any one in particular, so you have a way in your stand up to broaden that perspective. I kinda hoped your ideas for shows to be developed on Netflix, but I saw nothing as of yet. Your concepts are intriguing, and I’d be interested in viewing. I noticed you have something on Adult Swim. Is this where those ideas are becoming reality? I hope you are able to find your way to the Bay Area for a few nights of stand up.

@ 5:37-- wheelchair user's partner here (and former part-time chair user myself)-- if the joke is that the person could watch their stuff bc the place wasn't accessible, that's not offensive at all. if the idea is that the person couldn't dance, ppl do dance in wheelchairs, so that's misleading.

Oh man. A rather disillusioning interview. After watching her produce one of the best bits of stand ups I've seen (on Conan's show), this interview just has _way_ too many "likes" for my liking. Seems to me her prepared comedy can be very good and that she has what it takes be a good joke-writer (and playwright even), but there's no doubt that she's a _very_ poor extempore speaker. I couldn't finish the interview for all the "likes" in it. (There's definitely a "take a shot..." game to be played here.)
@georgedabrowski69005 ай бұрын
At some point, it behooves anyone who says "like" or "ya' know" too much to say, before an interview, the word or phrase about 200 times to themselves. Get it out of your system, or into your system to be at least aware of the word so the first time you use it as a throw away, might prepare you for that being the last time you use it. 🐸
