Every other intarsia tutorial on youtube uses such simple patterns, I feel like they are not actually relevant to knitting a full intarsia project! This has got to be the most helpful video out there. Thank you so much!

Very helpful thank you, especially since this is the year I intend to knit an intarsia pattern I purchased at the end of the 1980's!

what about when you have to move yarn the other way? that is, when you need the strand further along on the next row than where it was left in the previous?

I have never done any Intarsia knitting before but am about to start the Kites Throw from Modern Daily Knitting . Unfortunately my wool took forever to get to Canada and the knit along is over and I need help right off the mark. Do you have a video on how you start the first row when you add all the new colours for the triangles. I was sure I watched one that showed it but now can’t find it. Also I am not understanding when I would use the spit splicing method as it seems I would start new lengths of yarn after each triangle since none of the colours line up..I appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks Kath

Hi Kath! And welcome to the fun of intarsia knitting! The section of our videos where I show introducing a new colour is a chapter in this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6W6aWVqjtOqpcU I hope that will help to get you started! Splicing is the method you would use to increase the length of a piece of yarn. So if you are working one of your triangles and it turns out that you didn't leave enough yarn, you can then splice in an extra length. I hope that makes sense! Jen

Hi Jen, Thank you so much for the information and for getting back to me so quickly as I intend to start tonight and this helps me a lot😁

what if your stitch count would leave yarn up v down, would that change anything?
@ACTechniques2 жыл бұрын
The yarn will just bend to the next stitch where it is required, so it doesn’t matter. I hope that helps. 👍🏻

Can you do this on the purl side of the work?
@ACTechniques3 жыл бұрын
Yes, absolutely. Just weave the yarn you want to move, over and under, until it is where you need it. 👍🏻
