A lot of marriage therapists will use this method because they know if they take one or the others side too much they will walk away so they tend to act like they agree with both or there are good things about both parties behavior as not to piss off the other person even if they know that person is wrong. They will do this until said person is completely comfortable and feels it is a safe place and safe person to talk to.

I think Jenelle's issues run way deeper than her mom not saying she loves her (I think that's sort of a "chicken or the egg" situation). I think whatever happened between Barbara and Jenelle's father is what set her up for this screwed up life and attraction to shitty men. Grace report i know imma get hate for this but..having a narc mom myself I can see it break threw sometimes with babs...i still remember her constantly telling Jennelle that she wasn't doing anything right with jace...changing him, dressing him right after he was born and she didn't exactly try to teach her how to do it she just was like your not doing it right just let me do it..i kinda feel like that's how she looked on Jennelle as a mom period..just let me raise ur son you obviously arnt capable...not to excuse Jennelles drug use at all but if babs is a narc like I believe she was probably hella depressed and just trying to do things to make herself feel better, trying to get out of the house and away from the mental manipulation...jennelle was still a teen when she signed over her rights and very easily manipulated...she hasn't had the chance to really define who she was out side of who her mother told her she was...and as a narc parent abuse survivor i can a test to how much a child believes everything their parents tell them how they trust they have there best interest...and just how great at hiding their dark side narcs are...it took me leaving my parents and really learning who I was as an individual and then having my own child and knowing how much I unconditionally loved my child for me to even realize my mother was a narc...and it was still really hard for me to come to terms with and I was an adult how can anyone expect a teen to be able to do it... my experience makes me more understanding of Jennelle...we have seen babs poke her with words trying to provoke a reaction and I honestly don't think Jennelle even realizes that babs is a narc so how can she even begin to know how to deal with babs..and how can she herself see how everything she probably went threw shaped her behavior because we learn what we see as children Jennelle didn't just become this person over night she was shaped into this person by her parent that was supposed to love and nurture her and show her how to be a good person...babs never takes responsibility for anything and always blames Jennelle or jennelles boy toy at the time it's never her fault (narc trait) she has more obviously been using jace as a pawn (yes Jennelle has to but like I said if she hasn't opened her eyes to who babs really is and how that's shaped her how can she recognize it and fix it) and maybe jace does have problems but considering he's with babs more than he is with Jennelle why has no one considered it could be partly because of babs herself...or she could be manipulating jace into saying things and making him think he really is sick...my narc mother had all of her 3 children on meds at a young age because we all had something "wrong" with us...but to be honest looking back medicated children are much easier to "handle" and manipulate. Just something to consider..

I remember that reunion when Barb hesitated to say that Janelle was "loveable". I also remember watching those episodes of Janelle pushing and screaming hateful profanities at her mother. I agree with Barb, she's not loveable but that doesn't mean she didn't love her daughter. She said a million times she loves Janelle, why would she sacrifice so much for her and accept her back in the house so many times? I think that scene was an attempt to show pity for Janelle as the show always does. If I had done just some of the things Janelle did to my own mom, I wouldn't have to worry about cutting her off. She'd kick my ass and then never speak to me again. I don't see how much more love Janelle needs from Barb. Her actions show the most love I've seen a parent show in my whole life. That lady is a Saint, she's not perfect lol but damn it she's amazing and she deserves some respect for it. I hate that Dr Drew is such a Janelle sympathizer. No matter what Janelle goes through, her mom is always there to help her pick up the pieces. Nose is the corner is him facing the wall in a corner. But we know it's a lie because of that scene where David yanks him up. Before he even reaches Kaiser, his face is full of fear. If all he gets is basically a timeout, why would he be that scared and backing up? Was anyone else disturbed by David's fake creepy sweetness on their wedding day? When Kaiser got into Jenelle's makeup, David started to yell, then caught himself and slapped on this overly stepford like voice. It was disturbing like a split personality.

acesplace I can’t help but think they are so much shorter with Kaiser because he looks like Nathan that was why my dad’s father (refuse to call him a grandfather) always went after me because I looked like my dad who he hated. The moment Kaiser cries they scream and yell at him and if he’s mimicking David’s actions that’s even more alarming.

Agreed. This shit with abuse is so frustrating as a survivor of domestic violence - physical, gas lighting, mental and emotional I will say this is often how it goes. I have two children with this man and had to take out a restraining order, the family Court judge asked me why I kicked him out when the court private investigator said I needed help from the state financially. It was disgusting.

I think that jenelle was so “upset” about her mother not being at her wedding because she may have actually wanted her to be there, but I’m sure David wouldn’t let barb there because he hates her, and of course has to control everything. All signs are there that she’s definitely being abused by him. Hopefully in time she will be able to leave him, then we’ll hear about all of the bad things he’s done to her.
