THis is a bigger than milestone than learning early tricks, IMO. You get such a huge sense of freedom from being confident that you can ollie up and down curbs with no worries about bailing.
@Jeffrey_Tyler2 жыл бұрын
%100. Learning kickflips and shove-it's is really fun but once you learn to Ollie onto stuff it opens up the freedom of just cruising and not being afraid of curbs or cracks or sticks or whatever. It really is the most freeing trick to learn.

It's amazing how hard skateboarding tricks are until they aren't lol. I get mental block every time I'm trying to commit to something new, you're like "I'm never going to be able to learn this" and then all of a sudden you do. Fun to watch others go through the learning process. I prefer it to the "How to" video done by someone who is already an expert. It's better to watch the expert teach someone else.

So I've been building up to exactly this over the last few days, everything I want to do next has ollie foundation so I've mostly been practicing them in my sessions. This video has shown me that full sending with the speed is what I need, where similarly to what she said my natural response to struggling on a trick is to slow it down and overthink the technicalities... I'm landing an ollie onto pad tomorrow 👌

The scariest thing is when you get so comfortable doing a little pop up small curbs and then every once in a while your trying to just pop up a little curb and your not even thinking about it cause you've done it 1000 times and your back truck hangs up and you go flying unexpectedly.

Crazy that she could do moving kick flips before ollie-ing up things 🤯 I’ve been skating for over 20 years and first thing I learned was Ollie’s. Took months to get over a 2x4 plank but after that I was able to go up curbs and eventually 2-3 stairs! However I still have NEVER been able to land a kick flip 🛹 but I have landed a couple heel flips when I was like 13-14

@SkateGirlAndrea2 жыл бұрын
I'm the same way, I can ollie nice and high rolling in flat or transition. But when I go for the curb same prob, back trucks hit. Thinking about lifting my back foot higher seems to help get up a curb or ledge. Also when I get up and clear it I sometimes slip out backwards cause I'm leaning back and my back wheels land first. That is so frustrating.
