I underwent my third knee surgery in June. After 2 previous ACL reconstructions, I was left with bad pains in my knee that doctors couldn't figure out. After 4 years of the pains, one finally found out that the hardware from my previous surgery was pinching my tendons when I moved and decided the best option was to remove it. This is my experience with that surgery and recovery.

Over forty years ago, I had arthroscopic surgery on my knee for a cracked meniscus due to a high school wrestling injury. Though I recovered early enough to catch the tail end of the season, I opted not to. I was diligent with the prescribed knee exercises the doctor advised me to do, and returned to sports later on. I don’t regret giving my knee that respite, because it’s been as good as the other knee in the long run. A decade after the incident, my knee did swell up when I twisted it while quickly switching from zone defense to man-to-man in basketball, but I think it was because my knee had been slightly out of whack up til then, and snapped back. Good thing, since I did lots of serious hiking after that, plus weights, martial arts, skiing, volleyball, mountain biking, etc. for decades. I inline skated marathon distances for decades, and now longboarding (the wheeled kind) is my favorite. I still do some gymnastics. Treat your body right, and there’s a good chance sports will continue to be fun, even daring, as you get older.

Glad the doctor found out the source of the mystery pain!!! I had a knee injury when I was a teenager, and it took me like 2 years to found out that my ACL was gone. I went to see a bunch of doctors, but they all told me, "oh, it's just a minor tear in cartilage, do rehab exercises and rest." I twisted my knee like 50 times until I found a doctor who specialized in knee and shoulder. He went, "yup, your ACL is gone." ACL surgery went good, but because I twisted my knee so many times, a good chunk of meniscus had to be removed. This knee can't handle high impact activities well, but at least I can still snowboard.

Thanks so much for posting this, girl! Could you maybe explain more about what it was like to get put to sleep? This is the part that freaks me out!! Like, what does it feel like? How do they do it? What does it feel like when they put the stuff in, like do you get sleepy or is more like wide awake to instantly out? Could you have stayed awake if you would have tried or is it impossible? Haha. Basically whatever you remember about that part would be helpful. Thanks so much!

This video was great! My mystery knee pain was also caused by my screw not laying flush with my tibia. I’m finally getting it removed though! Could you do a follow up video when you are back to 110% please? That would be incredibly helpful. Thanks!

You're lucky nothing worse happened, while you were misdiagnosed. My daughter has a rod in her back, and one of the screws didn't set properly. The screw ended up poking into her aorta, which actually created some scar tissue. She was hospitalized and had corrective surgery right away. We tried getting the screw, but the doctor said he forgot to keep it and they threw it away. We got exactly the same type of screw as a "souvenir", I guess you would call it. She's fine now, and everything healed up nicely, but what an emotional ride it was. I'm glad everything worked out OK for you, cheers.🍻

I have a k Pro in my left eye it’s a prosthetic cornea I recently had it replaced I fell on my skate bord and the graft shifted so they had to replace it they did that around the end of June . It’s still healing I went to my summer home in Wisconsin like the 17 of July and got a infection in my eye it got all blurry and I couldn’t see and had to go home they had to do surgery where they like go into my eye and remove fibers material they put me on a bunch of antibiotics steroids and antibiotic/steroid eyedrops I am doing a lot better now can see a lot better . Your surgery makes me think of what I have been going through. Hope I heal by this winter I want to go snowboarding Again I got to go last winter for the first time in like 11 years and I can’t wait to skate too .

Tear off the band-aid style. My only stories, so far, are dentist and some stitches here and there. My trajectory is probably going to require knee, back, hip and shoulder surgeries, just from work. Let alone fun. Please listen to the doctor, get range of motion back even if it hurts.

Good outcome; although the the number of consultations for the diagnosis reflects poorly on the medical profession. Interesting the arduous ordeal of an athlete and disclosure to their sponsors. Well done brave lady, lets go.... dumpster diving.lol.
