Please, more Seinfeld. Season 1 and 2 have some good episodes but they haven’t quite gotten on to the Seinfeld formula all way at that point. Season 3 they really start to nail it and then season 4-7 are stellar with season 4 being, imo, the closest any sitcom has come to perfection with only 2 episodes that aren’t an A yet still funny.

Something to keep in mind is that “Season 1” actually comprised a pilot episode aired in summer 1989 that didn’t get picked up, then four more episodes that aired in summer 1990 that finally sold the show, which is why Elaine wasn’t in the pilot episode, and Jerry’s father was played by a different actor. The first actual season, “Season 2,” began in January 1991.

@wanderingidle48486 ай бұрын
That's true for so many things, but particularly with a lot of comedy (and romantic comedy) in the 80's and 90's, where the humor revolves around missed connections or an inability to communicate, or a message somehow getting lost along the way. On a different note, I've always kind of thought that Goldeneye should have been the final James Bond film. Aside from the fall of the Soviet Union, James Bond just doesn't really work in the age of smart phones and the internet, which is why they had to reimagine him in the Daniel Craig era as more of a Jason Bourne type action hero. Having to bring a bunch of cool spy gadgets to exotic locations to do spy stuff just doesn't make sense anymore when an iPhone can do half the stuff his gadgets can, and basically all information is online anyway and can be accessed from anywhere on the planet.

2 big differences: (1) Kramer was called “Kessler” in the pilot, and (2) originally, the idea was that Kramer never left the apartment building, but they abandoned that idea after the first 4 or 5 episodes and started including him in plot lines outside of the building.
@lebojay15 күн бұрын
Another tidbit: In “The Suicide”, Newman is voiced by Larry David. At that time, it was planned to never show Newman. When they changed their minds about that, they dubbed Wayne Knight over LD in that episode for the reruns. In the version Jen watches, it’s still LD’s voice in that episode. LD is also the voice of Steinbrenner, he’s the “flaming globes of Sigmund” guy, and he’s Frank Costanza’s lawyer who wears a cape (why a cape?).

Yes, I agree with you, many TV shows evolve away from their original pilots. For example, Bewitched, Samantha and Darrin had a menorah at the beginning, and it disappeared later. With Seinfeld, what I noticed was Kramer became less odd, and more smooth and friendly. Plus he developed his unique way of entering Jerry's apartment. As for George, I think he seems to be channeling Woody Allen in the first few episodes, but later he looses Woody, and he channels Larry David, the producer/writer of many episodes.

Hey, Jen! Important to note that _Seinfeld_ was created by Larry David and Jerry. But it was really Larry David who was the creative genius behind the show, not so much Jerry. Larry was the showrunner and head writer (basically the equivalent of a film director, but for a TV show). So, after _Seinfeld,_ you NEED to watch _Curb Your Enthusiasm_ next, which was also created by Larry David and it also stars Larry as himself. _Curb_ is basically just rated-R _Seinfeld._ And also since George from _Seinfeld_ is based on Larry David's personality, _Curb_ is pretty much George Costanza the TV show. Larry is a comedy legend (more so than Jerry). But also, it'd be great if you watched some clips of Larry David now (and get to know his iconic voice) because Larry makes many, many cameos on _Seinfeld_ (either on screen or just his voice) and it would be really fun for us _Seinfeld_ fans if you were able to recognize Larry's cameos as the show progresses. Just a suggestion.🙂

That comic was Paul Reiser and he got Mad About You with Helen Hunt. The other comic was going to come but I got a call from his manager and had to send it up to our general manager. That comic got a pilot and had them reschedule to later in the year. That show got cancelled as well when the show got picked up and Seinfeld was born. Jerry: I'm a little nervous. George: Yeah, me too... Jerry: If I see her, what do I say that I'm doing here in the building? George: You came to see me; I work in the building. Jerry: What do you do? George: I'm an *architect*. Jerry: You're an *architect*? George: I'm not? Jerry: I don't see architecture comin from you... George: I suppose *you* could be an architect... Jerry: I never said that I was the architect. Just somethin' else... George: Alright, she's not even gonna ask, if we *see* her, which is remote. Jerry: Well what'dya want me to say, that I just wandered in here?! George: We're having lunch with a friend-- he works in the building. Jerry: What is *his* name? George: Bert... Har... bin... son. Bert Har-bin-son. Jerry: Bert Harbinson? It sounds made up. George: No good? Alright, how about Art... Corr..... Jerry: Art Corr... George: ...velay... Jerry: Corvelay? George: Yeah, right. Jerry: Well, what does *he* do? George: He's an importer. Jerry: Just imports, no exports? George: He's an importer/exporter, okay? George: Say, did Elaine ever call you back? Jerry: No, I guess she's still mad. George: I don't understand, you never talk to her about other women? Jerry: Never. Jerry: Wait a second... That's her... on the right. George: I forgot who I am! Who am I?! Jerry: You're you. We're having lunch with Art Corvelay. George: Vandelay! Jerry: Corvelay! George: Let me be the architect, I can do it! And people say the 1st season isn't good.... 🙄
