Congratulations to her and her time........but I will never understand how national time records are determined in cross country when they are run on different courses with different degrees of difficulty......if the national race was run on the same course every year then it would make more sense to me.

The more sweeping corners you have is also advantageous for setting records...You run corner to corner, depending on the length of the race, you can easily cut off 25m on this race.

Agree it does look awkward. I’ve not seen her before but she has only moderate hamstring contraction, versus Katelyn Tuohy, who is practically kicking her own butt with every step, particularly across mile/2-mile/3k/5k track distances. I would expect this to shorten her stride but it’s not slowing her down one bit. I’d be interested to see her doing some shorter track work to see whether she has the ability to toe-off stronger and open her gait up and see if that makes a difference when she kicks.

I was at the race. There was one tough hill but the footing was hard packed. I also saw her race at ASICS which was a slow course and she ran low 16 something. It would have been be so much fun watching her race NIKE NXS if they would have had it this year.

Katelyn Tuohy has a huge stride, great running form, ripped arms, but is short. Jenna barely moves her arms, and has a tiny stride. I don't get how she is so fast here. Well- it was her last great race. Didn't run again in race until Sept. 2022 at BYU and almost came in last at Cowboy Jamboree. Her running career is done, and she made a horrible mistake by going to BYU.

Yeah I mean it’s a constant downhill and the surface is essentially a grass track. That’s why the only thing you need to pay attention to is placement. After a bit you really start to realize ranking and things like that don’t matter and it comes down to how you do 1v1 same course same humidity.

Seriously, its no surprise the time was under 16 minutes. PERFECT conditions, footing and weather. That turf looks like a perfect fairway/putting green. Short little rolling hills take nothing out of you if you train anything more than flat. Great race, but come on, this proves nothing in a comparison to Touhey.
@freshappleseed6966

Firstly, I don't know why everyone is so hard pressed to compare her with Katelyn. Sure, it makes sense to weigh their performances next to each other considering that they're both in a league of their own and the fastest in hs girl history, but there's more to their races than just that. It doesn't matter how you slice it, Jenna just ran the fastest xc 5k time for hs girls in history. Flat course or not, this has never been done before and clearly marks her as one of the fastest females in high school to run the 5k. Makes her a lot faster than a lot of high school boys in the nation too tbh.

Let’s be kinder to the camera crew for this video. It was excellent coverage. They obviously were not in the official camera cart and were blocked from staying at the front through the finish line. You can see in the video they had to pull off just before the finish. Unfortunately they lost the ability to keep the camera on Jenna. Kudos to the makers of this video. You need to go to the official coverage by hitting the link that they provided.

Well.... we have the mentality here that there's equality, in "coverage" of the race being for the leader to be forced to be right behind a motorized pacer... and zero coverage of the other 200 women. And to have unskilled verbal coverage try to compare times of entirely different courses.

We are so glad FT is posting this historical and exciting video! Jenna Hutchins’ run as well as Parker Wolfe’s at the RLNXC was mesmerizing.. Although we do know FloSports owns MileSplit, we were really hoping to see the coverage on both platforms. It is now obvious that these talented kids are more interested in the competition and less about who the national sponsor is. The National sponsors flat out failed them all as well as the sport of XC this year. Has anyone even tried to buy a pair of running shoes inside a Foot Locker recently? You can’t find a decent pair of running shoes there and finding spikes is out of the question and we are not exaggerating. Although we’re sure backpacks and corporate sponsorships will eventually come to Huntsville, it was nice to see the raw power of a from the ground up start up idea catch fire to fill a void in a matter of weeks that resulted into a full-blown championship in a matter of weeks. There were so many kids that were robbed and disappointed when Nike and Foot Looker had to make a political statement by canceling their events. They could just as well have moved it out of the states that were restricted the event to another state. Congrats to @RunningLane and we wish them all the success for a continued success in hosting “THE” XC high school national championship in the future. We also loved the Silver Race opportunity that brought 290 additional runners to the venue. The 300 runners in the Gold Race was so exciting vs. the Balboa Park 40 only pack chess match for both the girls and the boys championship races. A true cross country race, in our opinion, should resemble the battlefield from Braveheart and that’s exactly what we witnessed in Huntsville last Saturday. Thank you to @MileSplit also for simulcasting the event LIVE for members. (although the Silver Race camera work was subpar) If you’re not a member of @MileSplit, you should consider it. No, we’re not affiliated with them, we just want them to get better and more local state subscribers will help .@canopybreezes

This race is going to be super popular in the future. Everybody can go get a PR and be at an enjoyable park. And not so cold in the late fall. it's going to skew the all time records like crazy though. The boys race was a mockery. But, like the NFL, more offense= more eyeballs. I could se this course taking over for footlocker someday. once they get the camera guys an electric cart it''ll be good to go.

Her stride reminds me of Oakley. Given the injury history not sure that is a good thing. The Ocean State course was harder. Lots of sand, sharp hill 800 feet from finish.
